Thunderbolts and Lightning, Very Very Frightning

"Who would attack the train? it doesn't make sense!" Twilight shouted, using her magic to close the door behind her. All 10 riders went to the next car in, and were not pleased with the attack.
"Especially in broad daylight. It isn't as dramatic." Pinkie pointed out.
Blizle sparked up. "Ponyta, head into the engine and flare it up. We need the speed. Fluttershy, make sure every pony gets into the farthest car up. Sableye, hold on." When she climbed on, he opened the door back to the previous car and runs out of it, leaping out of the train and running next to it. "Sableye, you're my spare eyes. Tell me what you see behind me. Especially attacks or other Pokemon."
Rarity opened a window and stuck her head out. "I know you want to have a look around, but that's insane. Why don't you just come back into the train and not put yourself and Sableye in more danger?"
"Because, mi amiga, he's had a death wish for three and a half years," A male voice said. "If you and your friends don't have such, blast him away with magic."
Rarity gasped and ducked back into the car. Blitzle saw a sight he was hoping never to see again: a Raichu that was larger than normal, and was wearing a hat similar to Applejack's. "You little- Go back to your gang and leave us alone."
Raichu looked amused by the prospect. "And give up? Not a chance, runt. Here, I'm more powerful than before, and my accuracy has skyrocketed. As a demonstration... THUNDER!" Raichu launched a large bolt of electricity up, which then came down farther up the train, severing the cars from the engine.
"NO!" Sableye yelled. They had been mere feet from crossing into Canterlot through the barrier, but the explosion halted their progress. She knew that Blitzle could get to the barrier, and she could dig there if needed, but the others were stuck in the train.
"You slimy piece of Grimer! I'll knock you out for that!" Blitzle said. "Sableye, go to the others. I'll handle the rat."
"Oh no, Speed. You and your friends aren't going anywhere." A deeper voice said from behind. "You're all going to surrender or be destroyed."
Blitzle turned. "Great. You brought the inner circle with you. Electivire, Eelektross, and Lanturn."
Raichu laughed. "That's not all. Galvantula and the Joltik have already infiltrated the train to apprehend your friends. Any second now, there will be an web of-" He stopped when the train car he was on shook and the side blasted open, revealing Ponyta having sent a blast of fire that sent all the spiders through the wall.
"Not. On. My. Watch." Ponyta said. "Hey guys, we got help coming."
Blitle ran over to the train car and jumped in. "Help or no help, we need to get through that barrier somehow. I don't think us three Pokemon can hold them back for more than a short while, so I hope help comes fast or you guys learn to fight."
"Don't let any of them leave that car!" Roared Raichu, leaping down to his fellow electric types.
"GO AWAY!" A wave of pure darkness sweeps across the area from Canterlot's direction. "DARK PULSE!"
"Oh dear. This is dangerous. We should go now." Fluttershy said, hiding behind Applejack. Suddenly, the whole train car was lifted up, causing every pony to fall.
"Nice going Twilight! They can't get us if you put in the barrier!" Applejack said.
"I'm not the one doing this." Twilight said, sounding nervous. "I don't know what is."
"Whatever it is, it has lots of magic. Look!" Rainbow said, pointing through the window. Upon looking through it, the group saw that all of the train cars were floating along with them. They passed through the barrier around the city and the cars were put on the track carefully. They saw an Alakazam standing there.
"Did you all make it?" A surprisingly high-pitched voice asked.
"Yeah, thank you Alakazam." Ponyta said.
"Alakazam? Oh, I'm an Alakazam right now, am I? Hmm, not a bad choice, self. I'd better go help Darkrai now." Alakazam turned pure white and changed shape. It became bigger, rounder, and began to float. When the color returned, Alakazam had transformed into Claydol.
"Ground beats electric. Have at thee, cowards!" Claydol floated through the barrier and used Earthquake.
One look at the senario told Raichu everything. "Fall back! The whole gang will be back on Tuesday, and we will win the fight, legends or no legends." The electric types scattered, and Darkrai floated back into the barrier with Claydol.
"Mew, replenish your shields and head to the castle." Darkrai said. "I'll get them there."
"That's the plan! See you in a bit!" Claydol transformed into the legendary Mew, and began using protective moves. "Barrier. Reflect. Safeguard. Protect. King's Shield. Spiky Shield..."
"Come with me, all of you. I assume you can guess the reason that your meeting was made early?" Darkrai asked, leading the group through the city and netting some very strange looks. Noticing them, he sighed. "First time I've been out of the castle in public in my true form rather than as a shadow, and every single one of them is scared of me, I can sense it, I will be in their nightmares for a while. I recall being asked why I isolate myself while at the campfire. It is because where I'm known I am hated and feared, and where I'm not I am feared nonetheless."
"I don't hate you or think you're scary, Mr. Darkrai." Fluttershy said. "You look kind of scary, but you're really nice."
"Thank you for your words. Your princesses are in the throne room, waiting for your arrival. Tell them I will be there soon. I have one to check on." Darkrai said, melting into shadow and disappearing into the castle.

-----------------------------------------------------

Darkrai floated to a bedroom in the castle, where the previously nightmare consumed Earth Pony was staying until she was all better.
"How are feeling?" Darkrai asked the young filly.
"Much better. Thanks for getting rid of that mouse thing." She rubbed her mane, straightening it out.
"Good. Finish your Oran juice, it will make you feel better. How's your roommate?" Darkrai motioned towards the other bed.
"He hasn't moved since you brought him here. Are you sure he's alright?" She asked.
Darkrai chuckled. "He just needs time to recover, that's all. I'm glad you're alright."
"Who is he, anyway?" She asked. "I've never seen a pony like him before."
"No, I suppose you haven't." Dakrai mused, floating towards the door. "From what I understand, he is the best guard any being could hope for, and the greatest friend to have. Let me know when you're feeling all better, and I'll take you home. If he wakes up, don't let him leave. Tell him Mew will be with him when he is awake."
