Fire Upon Strings

Seven: Winter Wrap Up, Persona Style! Pt.1

I yawned. Twilight had just flipped on the light.

"Twwwiiiliiight..." I groan, covering my eyes.

"Come on! Today's Winter Wrap up!"

My eyes snap open.

"Oh god no" I mutter, sitting up.

"What's that?" Adrian yawns.

I watch as twilight pulls over her snow gear.

"Today is when everypony in ponyville helps clean up after winter since tomorrow is the first day of spring!" She squeals, leaping into her boots.

"Ugh... We're not exactly ponies if you didn't notice..." I mutter.

"But still, As long as you're living under this roof and in this town you are supposed to help." She lectured.

"Ugh.. Clean up winter? Who cleans up winter? Don't they use magic to change the seasons like we do in canterlot?" Spike groans.

"No spike, ponyville was started by earth ponies, so for hundreds of years, they've never used magic to clean up winter. That means no fire spells Orpheus." She says, struggling to get a saddle on.

"It's traditional!" She says, standing up with the saddle on right.

It then slips of and lands on the floor with rattle.

"It's ridiculous... No magic. Peh." Spike said, hiding under the covers.

She then tightens the saddle and wraps a scarf around her neck. She levitates a list off of a hook.

"Ok, Let's see. Scarf, Check. Saddle, Check, Boots, Check. Spike refusing to get up and going back to sleep, check. Orpheus and Thanatos being lazy, Check." She proclaims.

She puts the list back.

"Good thing I'm so organized! I'm ready!" She yells, opening the door and stepping outside.

"Bright and early!" She yells.

"It's night still isn't it!" Adrian shouts.

She comes back in and takes off all her gear.

"Ugh.. Fine... You can go back to sleep."

I'm out as soon as my head hits the pillow.

"Nooo!" Adrian groans.

"Are you sure you don't need help?" Twilight asks.

I tug again on one of Adrian's coffins.

"I'm fine." I tell her.

"Well.. ok. Meet us at the town square to get a job." She says, running off with spike on her back.

"NOOOO!" Adrian groans again.

"Fine..." I says, letting go and taking off my harp.

"AGI!" I shout, sending a fireball his way.

"HOT! HOT! HOT!"

He runs past me and starts to roll in some snow. I close the door behind him.

"Jerk." He says.

I roll my eyes. He stands up and groans.

"Lets go..." He moans.

"First." I interrupt.

"I've totally forgot but you need a token." I tell him.

"A what?" He deadpans.

"Something to have other Displaced call apon you. Like that thing that we found." I tell him.

"You mean the scythe?" He asks.

I take Pecila's key out of the small leather pouch that rarity sewed for me.

"I've still got it..." I say, slowly Inching Pecila's token near the lock of twilight's door.

"NO!" He shouts.

I laugh and place it back.

"O-ok... I'll make one." He moans.

"Ok, First find something to use."

He looks around after setting on his belt buckle. He rips it off and with a flash a new one pops into existence.

"Cool, Magic belt buckles." He jokes.

"Now put some of your raw energy into it." I instruct.

He puts both hands on it.

"Think of a phrase or something. Oh, Include instructions on how to summon you." I say.

He waits for a second before tossing the buckle at me.

I am Thanatos, The avatar of Death. Smash the buckle and I shall come if your cause is great enough. or you just want to talk. I'm down for that too.

I toss it back.

"Now throw it." I tell him.

He prepares to throw it before I stop him.

"Not at me you idiot." I deadpan.

"Fine." He mutters.

He tosses it at twilight's door and watches at it vanishes into a dark void.

"Oh cool." He simply says.

"Come on." I usher.

When we get there the meeting has just about started.

"We need everypony's help to wrap up winter and bring in spring." The mayor states.

The crowd cheers.

"Now all of you have your vests and have been assigned to your teams, so let's do even better than last year and have the quickest winter wrap up ever." She states again.

The crowd erupts into cheers again.

"All right everypony, Find your team leader, and lets get galloping!" She cheers.

The crowd disperses, leaving only me, Adrian and Twilight without a job. Music begins to randomly start up.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Adrian yells.

I gain a wicked glint in my eye as I prepared myself for a song.

Three months of winter coolness and awesome holidays...

We've kept our hoofsies warm at home, time off from work to play

But the food we've stored is running out, and we can't grow in this cold

And even though I love my boots, this fashion's getting old

The time has come to welcome Spring
And all things warm and green,

I join in, much to my brother's annoyance.

it's also time to say goodbye:
It's Winter we must clean.

How can I help? I'm new, you see.
What does everypony do?
How do I fit in without magic?
I haven't got a clue!

Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
Let's finish our holiday cheer
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!

'Cause tomorrow Spring is here!
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here!

Bringing home the southern birds,
A pegasus' job begins
In clearing all the gloomy skies

To let the sun shine in!

We move the clouds and we melt the white snow;

When the sun comes up, it's warmth and beauty will glow!

Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
Let's finish our holiday cheer
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!

'Cause tomorrow Spring is here

Winter Wrap-Up Winter Wrap-Up!

'Cause tomorrow Spring is here

Adrian sighs and butts in.

'Cause tomorrow Spring is here!'

Little critters hibernate
Under the snow and ice.

We wake up all the sleepyheads
So quietly and nice!

We help them gather up their food,
Fix their homes below;

We welcome back the Southern birds

So their families can grow!

Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
Let's finish our holiday cheer
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!

'Cause tomorrow Spring is here

'Cause tomorrow Spring is here!

No easy task to clear the ground,
Plant our tiny seeds.

With proper care and sunshine,
Everyone it feeds.

Apples, carrots, celery stalks
Colorful flowers, too!

We must work so very hard,

It's just so much to do!

Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
Let's finish our holiday cheer
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here!
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here!

Now that I know what they all do,
I have to find my place
And help with all of my heart,
Tough task ahead I face.
How will I do without my magic,
Help the earth pony way?
I wanna belong, so I must
Do my best today
Do your best today

Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
Let's finish our holiday cheer
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here
Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up!

'Cause tomorrow Spring is here
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here
'Cause tomorrow Spring is here!

"Orphey!" Dinky shouted, bouncing into my arms as soon as the song ended.

"Hey. I didn't see you this morning." I tell her.

"I went out with twilight." She admitted.

"Alright. I'll be helping Flutters with the animals. You go do whatever you were told to do ok? If something happens come straight to me." I tell her.

She nods and bounces off.

"You did good." I said, patting Adrian on the back.

"I didn't think there's a song in every episode!" He said.

"Meh. Get used to it." I tell him, heading over to Fluttershy's area.

I gently shook the bell as a bunch small bat family yawned in a tree hole.

"It's time to wake up." I try to gently tell them.

Yeah, I'm not so good but Adrian is better at the whole working the plow thing.

The bats yawn and fly out. I wave to them and go over to the next hole.

"Hello?" I call.

I ring the bell a few times. A hedgehog family rolls out.

"I hope you had pleasant dreams..." I tell them.

I look over at fluttershy. She had a found another hedgehog family as well. Twilight was just over there as well. I walk over.

"Aww... How cute." She said.

"Aren't they? This is my favorite task of the whole season." Fluttershy replied.

"Same. Even though I'm not as good... Nearly frightened a skunk on my first try." I said.

Spike rubs his temple.

"Uh... What's hibernation."

"In basic terms, Spike, its when animals go to sleep for the winter." I explain.

"Sleep? For the winter?" Spike asks.

I nod. Fluttershy walks over to a hole and rings the bell. I walk of to some of the more bigger animals that the ponies can't do without difficulty.

"Wakey-wakey!" I whisper into a large cave.

I ring the bell, hearing it echo. Soon a large bear comes lumbering out. He yawns and lies down.

"I know how you feel but spring is coming. You don't want to miss out on the first berries of the season do you?" I ask him slyly.

He gets up, licking his lips.

"That's what I thought." I laugh.

Soon a scream penetrates the area.

"Twilight?" I turn around to see many animals chasing after twilight.

I sigh and facepalm.

(Adrian's POV)

I sigh as I push the plow from the outside. My new strength was certainly helping but even so, It had it's disadvantages. Such as steering. I had to comepletely turn around before I could even start in a different direction.

"Ngh..." I mutter, pushing it up the snow covered hill.

Applejack was just sittin' up there on the hill.

"I don't understand why she doesn't come do some work..." I mutter.

I look over at the hill where Applejack is and see twilight talking with her.

"Don't tell me..." I facepalm.

I look behind her. Jake was following her. I watch as twilight hops in one of the plows. She tries a few times to push it before stopping. It soon lights up with a purple aura and starts to move.

"What?! She's totally ignoring the lecture she gave us before!" I shout.

I watch her for a bit until she makes a massive snowball. It scoops up Applejack and Spike while Jake keeps running.

I start to run over before I hear

"AGILAO!"

With a massive flare the ball of snow and most of the snow around the area is melted. Jake is standing there, panting until he collapses.

"JAKE!"

I quickly run over, ignoring the ponies protest. The massive fire blast had also loosened up a bunch of the snow above the cliff they were at, making a giant flood of snow. I run over and start to dig him out. I eventually find him, unconscious.

"Must have used up his energy." I sigh.

"Twilight, Applejack, I'm going to take a quick break and head back to the library. I need to get Jake some food." I tell her.

Applejack waves a dismissive hoof and starts to lecture twilight again.
