Chapter One

Twilight sat in the castle. It was quiet. Rainy, but quiet. She had insisted that she should go to the castle, wanting to catch up on her studies before the next day. Twilight thought of her friends, realizing with a pang how worried they might be.

"Twilight, are you sure you want to go? The pegasi are setting up a storm."

"I'll be fine, Spike, it's not like I'll get hurt. After all, I have my magic."

"Yeah, but-"

"Don't worry Spike, I promise I'll be fine.

Twilight winced when she thought of how worried the baby dragon got. Sighing, she used her magic to get a next book. Might as well do something.

"Twilight? Twilight Sparkle?" Twilight moaned. Did she fall asleep? The drool on her book answered. Looking around, expecting to see her friends, Twilight looked for whoever called her name. To her surprise, no one was there.

"Hello?" She called, "Anypony there?" No answer.

"Must have been my imagination." She chuckled.

"Over here, Twilight." She jumped. looking around, she looked for the source. Her eyes widened when she saw a cat. It was slightly glowing. It's eyes were blank and wide, likely blind.

"Fluttershy?" She called out, hoping to see the yellow pegasus. No answer. "What in the name of Celestia is going on..."

Suddenly, the cat ran off.

"Wait! Where are you going?" She galloped after the cat, wondering what spooked it. Echoes of her hoof steps were everywhere. After galloping, with no end, she stopped. Panting, she looked around, hoping to find the mysterious cat. Finally, she found the blank eyes. Her heart leaping, she trotted closer. Thankfully, it didn't move.

"Are you lost," she asked looking around,"Or are you trying to show me something." To Twilight's shock, the cat nodded. Then, with a wave of it's paw, her gaze darkened.

A cat twitched his ear, awaking from his doze in a jump. The golden tabby looked over to him for a minute, before finally asking, "Is something wrong? What happened?"

The gray tabby let out a hiss, "Of course something happened! When I see Rock, I'm gonna-"

"You'll what? Kill me again?" The cat hissed at the newcomer, Rock.

"Are you flea brained?! She can't be here, she's the whole reason that...that this will happen!" The tom snarled angrily, letting out all his anger on Rock. The hairless cat simply sighed.

"You can't prevent a prophecy, Jayfeather. You should know that."

"Still! This could mean the end for the clans! She may not even succeed!"

"You don't know that," Rock answer, obviously not caring much for the conversation, "If I could, I wouldn't have brought her here, you know. But we can't avoid this."

"You just don't care!" Growled the tom, "You never cared!"

"Jayfeather...calm down-" The golden tabby tried to calm down his brother, but was interrupted by his snarl.

"I can't calm down, Lionblaze!" After glaring at his brother for a while, he turned away, turning his glare to Rock.

"You're right. I never cared." After hearing a snort of contempt from Jayfeather, he continued, "But that gives you no excuse to be right. If I didn't bring her here, the disaster would not be avoided. The clans would have no hope, not in anyway." He let that sink into Jayfeather. Then, he turned away.

"The clans will need help, Jayfeather. The will doubt this newcomer, but in the end, they need to trust her, they need her friendship." And, he walked away.
