//------------------------------// // A Small Spark(le) A Big Fire // Story: Pieces of Discord // by 4428Gamer //------------------------------// “Where is he?!” I shouted out into the ceiling of the foyer. “It’s been thirteen minutes now!” A sigh came from behind me. “Twilight, did you really expect him to get here on time?” Spike asked from the staircase that he was sitting on. “I mean, this is Discord we’re talking about here.” “I know, that’s why I planned ahead.” I shook my head with a frown. “Planned?...Planned how?” “Well,” I stopped pacing back and forth around the room and turned towards Spike. “I knew that he wouldn’t want to be here on time so I tricked him into thinking that I wanted him to come earlier.” “How early?” Spike pressed on. “Forty-seven minutes ago,” I answered. He chuckled. “Why forty-seven?” “I figured that if I used reverse psychology than it might have caught Discord off guard. After all, it wouldn’t be a bad place to start with my lessons.” I told him with a nod. In fact, lessons were the very reason why I was waiting so ‘patiently’ right now. Today was supposed to be the day that I began to branch out to learning other fields of magic. Now that all the damage thanks to Tirek was mostly repaired and Spike and I had settled into this large castle, I needed to move onto something else. I wasn’t Princess Celestia’s student anymore so I didn’t have any lesson plans to follow anymore. So I figured that it was time to try my hoof at practicing any subject that I chose. This lesson with Discord was going to be the first and that resulted in making some of the others suspicious. Regardless, I made my choice. “You’re trying to throw Discord, the all-powerful and amazing God of Chaos, off his guard?” Spike burst out laughing. “Wow, are you so sure that’s a good idea?!” “W-What’s wrong with that idea?” I straightened out my form. “Let’s say that you were Discord. Would you really expect me to see it coming?” “Ahehehe...I think if I was Discord, then you would’ve just told me.” I just rolled my eyes as he went on chuckling. “Besides, what makes you so sure that Discord didn’t already see your plan coming?” “That’s just it Spike. He wouldn’t and doesn’t have a reason to see it coming.” Just then, there was a knock at the door. So once I calmed my frustration well enough, I began walking over towards doors to answer. “And since when does Discord need a reason?” Spike rose an eyebrow. “Well…” I stopped just before the door. “...Okay, I suppose you have a point. Still, even somepony like Discord isn’t entirely unpredictable. Which means that he should’ve gotten here by now.” “Uh-huh.” Spike rolled his eyes, not ready to believe me. Still, I ignored him for now as I opened both doors with my magic. I looked up to try and spot Discord’s sickly sweet grin that he always wore. Instead, I didn’t see anything or anypony ahead. “Hey, thanks Twilight.” Spike gave me a small wave as he started coming inside. “I was hoping you heard me knocking.” “Wai-What?!” I watched wide-eyed as he walked past me nonchalantly. “Bu-I tho-you were...Huh?” “Woah, nice mirror.” As Spike walked into the foyer, he noticed a mirror that was now positioned directly in between the front doors and the stairs. “What’s it doing in the middle of the room?” Spike stopped in front of the mirror just as his reflection had done. He then started admiring himself in the mirror as I silently closed the door behind me with my magic. My jaw still licking the carpet below me, but Spike didn’t notice. “So where’d you get it?” When he turned towards me, his reflection instead grinned at me with a large, cheeky smile. I didn’t give him an answer and instead just started to glare at his reflection. “You’ve been here the whole time, haven’t you?” I deadpanned. “Uh, woah, Twilight, What I do?” Spike backed up a bit and looked at me with confusion. He thought I was glaring at him all of a sudden. “No, not you Spike, the Other Spike.” I gritted my teeth, still glaring at the reflection in the mirror. No way was I about to break contact with him. The reflection started to crack up and nearly collapsed to the ground. Only he was staying silent so that Spike couldn’t notice him. “What other,” Spike turned back around and just barely missed his ‘reflection’ acting on its own. “Spike? All I see is my reflection in the mirror.” He gestured to what I knew was Discord, but Discord copied Spike’s moves perfectly. This made Spike none the wiser as he watched it carefully. “Well I didn’t put the mirror there.” I shook my head. My frown didn’t faltar either. No way was I letting Discord let my guard down too. “Then who did?” Spike turned back towards me and didn’t notice as the reflection started to do the Shuffle as the mirror started flashing with colors as if he were at a party. “Did Discord get here yet?” “He’s right behind you!” I pointed my hoof at the reflection with a growl. “Where?!” Spike turned around again and, lo and behold, Discord cut out his dancing and the lights just in time for Spike not to notice. “All that’s here is the mirror.” He kept staring at it and even tried to fake out the reflection for my sake, but Discord followed his moves perfectly. However, Spike decided to give it one more shot in order to give me the benefit of the doubt. He rose his claws up and watched carefully as his reflection did the same. He then started patting his stomach like a bongo drum, playing the tune of the birthday song. When he saw that the reflection had did the same perfectly, he sighed and turned towards me. “Twilight...It’s a reflection.” Spike concluded. I placed my hoof into my muzzle. “Okay. Fine. Whatever,” I knew I wasn’t crazy, but it was pointless to prove it to Spike. Discord was obviously not going to lose this fight. “So where were you anyway?” I ignored his reflection mutely dancing with maracas in both claws. “I told you yesterday. I went over to see if Rarity needed help with any of the orders everypony’s been putting in.” Oh that’s right, Rarity was telling me about that. Because there was so much damage in Ponyville thanks to Tirek, and me too I suppose, a ton of ponies were calling in orders to help with replacing some dresses, curtains, and other fabric stuff that Rarity could’ve made. Reflection Spike then threw his maracas off to the side and spun in place. Once he stopped spinning, he was in a tuxedo and straightening out his little purple bowtie. “So she didn’t need your help I’m guessing?” I asked him as I used my magic to start levitating something that was inside a tool bag from the side of the room. A hammer. “Kinda,” Spike scratched the side of his head as I brought the hammer above the mirror with Discord stuck his tongue out at me. He saw the hammer and mocked his surprise as he reached for something that was off to the side of the mirror. I couldn’t tell what but it didn’t really matter to me at this point. I was about to end this prank in my own way. “You see, I went to the Boutique, but Rarity wasn’t there.” He explained to me. That’s when Discord pulled what he was reaching for in view. A horribly confused white baby dragon with purple scales. He then started to dance with her as she tried to figure out just what was going on. I had already wound up the hammer to smash the mirror, but it now fell lifelessly to the ground as my jaw dropped for the second time today. “What in the…” “Twilight, are okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Spike hadn’t noticed any of it though and just saw my awestruck look staring at the mirror. “He-the mir-Dis-Spike he’s-” I kept stuttering on uselessly. My emotions kept jumping around between confused, angry, stupefied, upset, hysterical, and as much as I hated to admit it...Amused. Eventually, however, I managed to scream out the most important word of them all. “RARITY!” I brought my hoof forwards with fury being the one feeling I stuck with in the end. “What, where?!” That word got Spike’s full attention as he turned on his heels and spotted the mirror. “Huh?” He paused to look at the mirror, trying to figure out just what he was witnessing before him. Discord was twirling Rarity in place as he started to laugh. Not only could we hear his voice this time, but that’s when the music for Hoofloose started to actually play in the background as he and Rarity kept dancing to the beat of the song. “Oh, so that’s what you were talking about before.” Spike nodded, somehow sounding perfectly calm about all of this. “Hey Discord. Hey Rarity.” “Hey Spike!” They both cheered as they kept dancing. “Wai-wha-Spike?! How’s come you’re so relaxed about this?!” I asked as I tried my best to keep my eyes from falling out of my head. “Oh please Twilight Sparkle,” Discord left Rarity to twirl in place as he snapped his claws while he stayed looking like Spike. The tuxedo he was wearing, the mirror, and the baby dragon Rarity all disappeared. This left only the three of us standing in the middle of the room as the music somehow kept on playing. “Did you really think that you were going to trick me?” “I...Well, I-” “Exactly. You can’t.” Discord interrupted, nodding as Spike’s double. “That’s why I had your little assistant here help me.” He jerked a thumb towards Spike as the two of them stood side-by-side. “Bu-Bu-” I shook my head and put myself back together. “But what about Rarity. How’d you turn her into a-” “Oh please, do you really think that your ‘fashionista’ friend of yours could pull off such a performance?” Discord disappeared in a flash and appeared off to the side back as his normal self. He then created and opened up a window beside him and gestured us towards what was on the other side. It showed Rarity waking up back in her boutique with her head resting on her workstation and some drool on the corner of her lips. “I simply borrowed her for a few minutes. She’ll just think it was all a dream.” The window slammed closed and faded away with a poof. “Although she may have some...Heartburn! Bwahahahaha!-” He started to spin around in mid-air, laughing at his own joke. “...Spike, how could you?” Choosing to leave Discord with his horrible choice of words, I turned towards Spike. I wasn’t too upset that he actually tried to join in with a prank like this. Still, that didn’t mean I was okay with it. “I thought that Rarity was actually in trouble for a second.” “I’m sorry Twilight, but Discord said it was to help with your magic,” Spike gave me an apologetic smile. “But, come on, you gotta admit it was pretty funny.” I rolled my eyes, but couldn’t help but have a small smirk creep up onto my face. “Okay, I guess it was a little,” I turned over to Discord as he wrote down something in a gold-colored book titled Jokes. “But was that really necessary?” “Actually, it was,” After he finished writing, he closed his book and poofed it away with a snap of his fingers. “You see, if you really want to learn about Chaos Magic so badly, then I can’t let you be so calm and relaxed. It’s called CHAOS magic for a reason, you know.” I sighed. “Well, it makes sense anyway.” I grumbled to myself. I knew that Chaos Magic wasn’t going to be an easy thing to learn, but I had already made up my mind. Besides, I wasn’t about to back down now that I had decided on going through with this plan. If I was going to learn as many different types of magic as I could then that meant that I had to learn all types of it eventually. So, with Discord around for the moment, I figured why not try to understand the basics of Chaos Magic first? “Wait, I thought that you didn’t like to make sense.” Spike looked over towards him. “Ah, glad you brought that up my pupil’s pupil,” Discord snapped his fingers and both me and Spike had found ourselves sitting in school desks. The tables were painted green and yellow with the chairs actually being bean bags, but they were set up all the same. “Now,” Discord stood beside a teacher’s desk with a pointer in his lion paw and an apple with a green worm in his other claw. Behind him was a chalkboard floating in the air with a few pictures on it. On the left was a detailed picture of Discord looking content in a throne made out of a hedge. On the right were stick-figure drawn pictures of the two Princesses that weren’t as flattering as his own picture. They both had dunce caps and had their tongues sticking out as if they were idiots. Spike allowed himself to snicker at the picture, however, I didn’t find them all that hilarious. “Discord,” I warned him with a sideways glance. His smile dropped as he changed the pictures to make their pictures just as detailed as his own. “Killjoy.” he spat. “Anyway, your dragon has a good question,” Discord went on. “I see no fun in making sense with chaos because that’s not what chaos is about,” He snapped his fingers and his picture conjured a cup of chocolate milk. To which the picture then took a bite of both the cup and the milk as if the entire thing was a piece of jello. “But here’s the thing: You can’t make sense if there is no sense to begin with.” “...I don’t get it.” Spike shook his head hopelessly. “I think I do,” I spoke up. “You’re saying that without sense and harmony, there can’t be chaos. Right?” A graduation cap fell on my head while a dunce cap fell on Spike’s. “Correct! And, what does this also mean?” Discord held up the apple to try and eat it only for the worm inside to somehow smack him across the face. I thought it over for a few seconds. “Is it that; you actually rely on Harmony? Ow!” The tassel on my hat reached down and flicked my nose before flying away. I rubbed my nose before looking back up at Discord who looked as if he was trying to hold back his anger. “Spike, would you care to give it a try?” He looked over towards him, tossing the apple and worm into one of the drawers in his desk. The drawer closed and a second later I heard a faint explosion come from inside. “Uh...Well, if there has to be harmony for chaos to happen, then...does that mean harmony needs chaos to happen?” The grad cap I had flew onto his head with the tassel holding out an emerald for him. Spike’s face lit up at the sight of it and ate it happily. I, however, didn’t share the same enjoyment. The dunce cap literally screwing on top of my head wasn’t helping either. “Looks like the assistant is the real star-student.” Discord smirked at me in amusement. “Correct,” He snapped his fingers and the pictures of the two Princesses came to life. They looked displeased and apparently asked Chalk Discord a question. Except neither him nor I could hear anything from it. So I went ahead and assumed that whatever they were asking  was within reason. Chalk Discord didn’t seem to happy about it though and snapped his fingers in response. That’s when a cotton candy cloud formed above the princesses and started pouring chocolate milk down towards them. Chalk Luna quickly used her magic to conjure a barrier to keep the chocolate milk off of the both of them. Chalk Celestia then followed it up by firing a magical blast of water at Chalk Discord as if to give him a warning to stop. Chalk Discord stayed one step above however, as a pile of apples rolled into view. They all then joined together and and created some sort of monster. I guessed it was probably the same kind of monster that Applejack had told me about from the hedge maze. It stood in the way and took the water Chalk Celestia fired and began to grow like one of those carnival games. Once Chalk Celestia stopped, both her and Chalk Luna stared at the giant Apple Creature as it spit the tidal wave of water back at them. It wiped them out of view as Chalk Discord kept laughing at his throne. “You see, both Harmony and Chaos work against each other. And while I wouldn’t mind chaos coming out on top, none of you ponies don’t quite feel the same way, now do you?” Discord asked. I turned towards Spike to see if he was following, but he was too entranced with the fight that was going on between the chalk drawings on the board. The view of the board zoomed out as the princesses watched as the tidal wave came barreling towards a medieval looking village. Acting quickly, they carved out a moat-like hole around the village to keep the ponies from getting flooded. They looked slightly relieved until they noticed dozens of large cotton candy clouds flying over the towns and putting the townsfolk into a confused frenzy. They looked towards each other and used their magic to gather up the branches and leaves from the forest. With them, they made these somewhat primitive-looking umbrellas for the ponies not able to fit into the few houses. The ponies gladly accepted them and bared the clouds as they quickly began to make more roofs and buildings to go into. Spike kept on watching this in awe while I only shook my head at the sight. I knew that I was the only one actually paying attention. So as I tossed the dunce cap away with my magic, I frowned at Discord. “No, we don’t appreciate it.” “Ah, but that’s where you’re wrong little Miss Friendship Princess.” Discord smiled floating off to the side. “Take a closer look,” He told me as the chalkboard zoomed in towards the houses. The amount of them had doubled now and was more than enough for the population of the village. I then witnessed as only a few ponies came out of the houses with their slightly more advanced umbrellas. Except by ‘more advanced’ I mean that it wasn’t only the leaves and sticks that the princesses had cobbled together in three seconds. Instead some were made of clot and random scraps that they had gathered together. Some were made of probably blankets and tattered dresses and the handles were table legs or broomsticks. They also brought with them bowls and cups to which they held out in order to catching the falling chocolate milk. Once all of them filled up the cups or bowls they proceeded to bring them inside with them. “Some of them look...Happy.” I blinked. “Yes,” A piece of crystal rose out of the ground beside me and formed into a throne. Almost identical to the thrones that the rest of us had in the Meeting Room. As Discord sat in it, he took an obnoxious sip of chocolate milk from a straw. “Something that neither the princesses or that Alicorn Potion you had never told you was that chaos isn’t necessarily evil. “In fact if I remember right, I heard a few ponies back in those days say that they didn’t mind some of my chaos wandering around Equestria.” Discord sat back in his throne and watched as the ponies brought the chocolate milk into the houses and passed it around for everypony to try. “Really?” I rose an eyebrow in disbelief. “Yes, really.” He gave a short nod with a relaxed smile. “Of course, I didn’t really care what any of them thought. All I was concerned about was me. And could you blame me? I mean, the two ‘leaders’ of these ponies tried to tell me what do from the moment they met me.” He had two quotation marks literally appear beside him as he mentioned the princesses. Once he finished his thoughts, the two pieces of punctuation started to walk away as if each quotation mark were a pair of legs. “Wait, so what you’re showing here is what actually happened?” I looked back at the picture and saw as the princesses and Chalk Discord kept going back and forth. Each time they tried to overcome the other one’s plan, it got more elaborate, strategic, and powerful. “Loosely. I’m only showing the highlights, not the play-by-play.” He said as he suddenly had on a referee outfit on. He then blew a whistle towards the princesses as they were talking to a few drawings that looked like griffons. “Hey, hey! No outside help!” Chalk Discord stood up from his throne, picked up what I guessed was a Changeling, rolled it into the shape of a ball and threw it towards the Griffon Kingdom like a fastball. Chalk Celestia caught it with her magic and chucked it southwards, earning a thankful look from the griffons before they flew back home. “Wait a second, the Pony-Griffon Peace Pact. It happened some time before you were imprisoned,” I pieced it all together. “Did you do that on purpose?” “No, not really,” He waved the thought away. “I only tried putting them in Griffon Territory because A; I didn’t want those bird-heads getting in my way and B; the Changelings were bothering me as well. Turns out Queen Buggy annoys us all,” He muttered more towards himself than to me. “Why are you showing me all this?” I gave him a suspicious glance. “What are you getting from me knowing about it all?” “For once? Nothing.” He snapped his fingers as the chalkboard finally got to the point where the princesses were confronting him with the elements while he was spreading those seeds. Before it could show anything else, the chalkboard disappeared along with the desks and Discord’s throne. Both me and Spike were still in our bean bag chairs while Discord floated back to where he was. “Aw, I was still watching that!” Spike complained. But after he did so, a comic book had landed in front of him. On the front it had a picture of Discord relaxing in his throne with the princesses looking at him with an unsure frown. Spike’s face lit up once more as he started reading it excitedly. “You said that you wanted to learn about Chaos Magic. I hope you realize that you weren’t fooling me when you said that you were ‘looking forward to it.’” He shook his head at me. “I mean, please. Even I’d have my doubts if I were you.” He smiled conceitedly. “Or Spike, as the case may be.” For what had to be the tenth time now, I rolled my eyes. “Besides, I wouldn’t mind trying to clear the good name of Chaos. I have a lot of that to do thanks to that old goat tricking me into helping him! I swear, I never thought I would almost help train my own executioner!” He clenched his fists as he made a Chalk Tirek appear beside him in his larger form. Chalk Tirek smiled confidently as it turned to face me as if it was about to fight. Although once it noticed Discord hold up an eraser, Chalk Tirek tried running in fear. Discord had no trouble catching him though and gladly erased it out of existence. As he smiled at his work, three mares appeared in chalk-form just like everything before them. The three of them I identified pretty quickly too. Rose, Lily, and Daisy. All of them were looking pretty content with just being chalk drawings. That is until they turned around and spotted Discord’s bored look. That’s when all Tartarus broke loose. “A monster!” Rose yelped in a high-pitched, squeaky voice. “A villain!” Lily joined in with a voice just as high-pitched and squeaky. I heard Spike snickering to himself in the background. “A horribly evil, yet incredibly handsome, God of Chaos!” Daisy acknowledged, earning deadpanned looks from me and even the other two chalk-drawn mares. Chalk Daisy noticed all of us and started to blush. “Oh. Um...I mean, AH! Run for your cute and adorable chipmunk-voiced lives!” That snapped the other two out of it as they all started screaming and ran as far away from Discord as they could. “Really?” I asked him. “She said it, not me.” Discord gave off an innocent shrug. “Anyway, that’s exactly what I mean. I was thinking that if you ponies saw that you were using magic that the evil ol’ Discord taught you, then it might help shush those rumors for good. Maybe then they’ll be like those ponies long ago that appreciated my chaos.” He chucked the eraser behind him where it bounced out of view like a rubber toy. “Well then, where do we start?” I smiled at him. All of us already knew about how Discord felt about the whole thing. Fluttershy made sure of that whether we listened to him or not. It may have taken a few days, but soon enough even Applejack and Rainbow Dash forgave him. The rest of Equestria wasn’t so forgiving though. Especially since he practically gift wrapped most of their magic for Tirek personally. It wasn’t like he could spend every day going door to door apologizing for that. He snapped his fingers and the three of us were teleported to one of the other rooms of the castle. The Training Room. Since this castle had so many rooms, I had plenty of the side rooms turned into whatever me or Spike wanted. We did try asking our friends for advice, but after Pinkie just kept asking for Party Rooms, Ballrooms, and Cake Rooms, that idea didn’t last for long. So while this room sat between two Ballrooms, it didn’t have too much to it. There were mostly just a few chairs for others to sit, some mats in the middle of the room, and a first aid kit. that last part was something that we all suggested since we’ve all had our fair share of incidents from new tricks or spells. Like the Want It, Need It spell that Spike had so kindly reminded me of. “Woah, what’s going on?” And speaking of Spike, he had finally looked up from his new comic. “When did we get here?” “Five hours ago,” Discord lied. “Now, if you’re really so sure of trying this out then I’ll help. But remember that it’ll take a day or so to get used to this kind of magic. So keep in mind that it’s not like you can try it and then take a tea break with Fluttershy. I mean, I can of course, but not you.” “I know. Princess Celestia warned me in advance. She said that the magic would take a week at the least to adjust to.” I informed him with an accomplished smile. “Well, in that case, Sun Butt has no idea what she’s saying.” Discord facepalmed as I could only look at him confusedly. “You don’t ‘adjust’ to chaos. It’s not that simple,” he shook his head and held up his eagle claw. Which was now holding my- “What the-” I threw my hooves to my head and desperately tried to find my horn. Long story short, it wasn’t there anymore. “Discord!” “Oh calm your Cutie Marks, I’ll give it back.” He said with a mocking tone of voice. My tone of voice to be more precise. “Besides, it’s proving my point,” He held up his right lion paw. “One does not simply adjust to chaos magic,” He said with a different voice that didn’t sound like his own at all. “Chaos magic, for you, works more like a switch.” He turned my horn and showed the side of it to me. He ignored my glare as I spotted an actual light switch on the side of it. “If you’re going to use chaos magic, you need to learn to turn it on and off at will. But here’s your biggest problem,” He threw my horn towards me as if it was a football. I closed my eyes at how it was flying towards me point-first, but it landed perfectly back into place painlessly. “Whereas your magic comes from your horn, chaos magic comes from itself. Since I am chaos, that’s not a problem for me. But in order for you to use it, you need a...Spark. So to speak.” “Well, okay, but where do I get a spark?” After making sure my horn was okay, and checking to see if the switch on the side of it was gone, I refocused my attention. “From me.” He concluded. “You see, this is probably one of the only times that me and Princess Sunny C up there agree on something. This kind of magic’s unpredictable. Even I don’t know what’s going to happen. And I’m the all-knowing Draconequus for Pete’s Sake!” “So...you’re saying that it may be dangerous?” I looked over towards Spike. He may have helped me with my magic before but now I was starting to have second doubts. “Nope. I’m saying that it is going to be dangerous.” He gave a shrug, making me shuffle around a bit nervously. “Whatever chaos comes from this is out of my mismatched hands. You could end up making clouds out of whatever you touch, have the power to make kittens out of thin air, shuffle around everypony in Equestria. Heck, you just might have the power to turn everypony into Alicorns. And we all know how ‘fun’ it is to read stories about overpowered Alicorns.” “...That all?” I asked, practically shaking by this point. “Well, that’s only some of it. You could just end up making an ugly looking plant sprout out of the ground. Oh. Wait. You’ve already done that.” He knocked on the wall of the room. I blinked a few more times and used Cadance’s breathing technique before finally answering. “Well, I guess we’ll just have to see what happens.” Now it was Discord’s turn to blink. “That works much too well.” He frowned. “So much for getting a laugh out of this.” I could only smile. “Sorry, but I don’t plan on letting you get the best of me that easily.” “Oh! Well then, aren’t you the brave little pony? Fine. If you’re so set on getting started then how about,” He pointed two of his fingers at me and held his thumb upwards. “This.” He made a shooting motion with his hand and fired a small little burst of magic at me. The magic itself looked like a dark unmanageable ball of chaos. Similar to the magic Tirek had absorbed from Discord. Before I could even try and get out of the way of it though, it struck the end of my horn where I couldn’t see it. Almost immediately the chaos magic started to take effect. It was hard to explain how it all felt as it was entirely new. The only way I really could describe it was as if I could tell that my magic was...Going dormant in a way. It wasn’t gone completely so I knew it was still there. Almost like my magic was moving off to the side and making way for something else. Something...Well, chaotic. “Now let me see if I’m getting this right,” With a snap of my fingers, I was sitting on one of those tables that you found in a doctor’s office. Discord then came over with a doctor’s jacket and a stethoscope in around his neck. “What should be happening is that the new magic’s taking your normal magic’s place. Is that right Ms…” He held up a small clipboard and looked between a few papers that was on it. “Sparkly?” Smiling at his joke, I nodded. “That’s exactly what it feels like. Is that normal Doc or do I only have twenty-four hours to live?” I asked, chuckling a little too much at the act. “Probably not. Except I’m a God, not a Doctor.” Discord shrugged. “But you may start acting a little chaotic there, patient.” He snickered a little as I frowned. “Wait, are you saying that I’m gonna start acting like you?” That wasn’t something I was prepared for. In fact, that was something I really wasn’t prepared for. “Well, that hurt. Now I need a doctor,” He threw the clipboard off to the side. “It won’t happen too often. As long as you watch what you say then you’ll be fine. It’ll get easier as you get used to the chaos.” “Thank Celestia,” I sighed in relief. “I thought I was going to go as cuckoo for Coco Puffs as Pink...Wait, what the hay are Coco Puffs?” I tried to think of just what I had said. I somehow knew that Coco Puffs were an object and not just a saying, but as for just what Coco Puffs were I couldn’t put my hoof on that. Weird... “Welcome to the club! We have matching jackets.” Discord said casually as he handed me a jacket my size. It was all black with a picture of an orange bipedal bird eating cereal on the back of it. “Now for the next part.” “There’s a next part?” I asked as I tried putting on the… I slowly put the jacket on the ground and stepped away from it. “That’s going to be harder to control than I thought.” What was worse was that I really wanted to wear that jacket right now. “Since the chaos magic’s in your mind, it’ll try to put thoughts in your head. That’s as bad as it gets though, so not much to worry about.” Discord snapped his fingers and a jacket of the same design appeared on him. “Either way, it’s just a jacket.” “Well, I’m not going to wear it.” I shook my head as I put one hoof through the first sleeve of the… “Ugh!” I tossed the jacket away from me, accidentally knocking Spike out of his chair in the process. “Oops, sorry Spike.” I said before I started giggling. I really did mean it, but I found that funny for some reason. “Yeah, sure sounds like it.” He said sarcastically as he got up from the ground. and picked up his comic. “Great, I lost my place.” And sadly, I snickered a little more at that. “Sorry! Sorry!” I yelled out as he started glaring at me. “You know, this might just be more interesting than I thought.” Discord said to himself as he sat back in the air. “Oh ha ha,” This time I wasn’t actually laughing. “So, what’s the next step?” “Easy. Cast a spell.” Discord nodded. “Okay. What kind of spell?” “It doesn’t really matter.” Discord told me as he started to swim in the air as if he were in a pool. “Just use some magic. It’s only so you know how it works, so have at it.” “Well should I use a weaker spell or something more advanced?” I asked confusedly. At least my thoughts were at least centered on this for now. So that meant that at least I wasn’t about to wear the—Not thinking about it! “Oh for love of Me,” Discord disappeared in a flash of light and—”BOO!” “AH!” I jumped back and fired a small burst of magic in front of me. I had my eyes closed so I didn’t see what happened next. However I could hear all of what happened and it didn’t sound too well either. First thing I heard was the magic blast itself. After that was a surprised yell from just ahead of me. Which was quickly silenced almost immediately. Almost tempted to keep them closed, I hesitantly opened one eye to look at what happened ahead of me. From just above my eye I could tell that my magic had at least stopped. So there was that. “Uh, Twilight?” From behind me I could hear Spike now looking up towards me. “What happened to Discord?”
