Prologue:
The First Step
To everypony else it was a usual day in Equestria the sun was shining and the sky was clear. That is everyone except one pony named Sky Rhythm. She was stuck inside her house hoping to one day be out there with everypony else. Everyday she would sit at her window and stare at the other fillies playing. She swore that one day she would stand up to her father once and for all. She would tell him that the way that he treated her was not right, but that day wasn't today or was it? This is her story.
“Sky get down here right now!” the familiar voice of my father yelling rang through the house.
‘What did I do now?” I thought as I turned away from the only light in my room. My door opened suddenly and my brother walked in.
“I don’t know if you did anything or if he is just looking for a fight, but I’ll protect you.” he said. His amber eyes met with my cyan blue eyes and I could tell he wasn't lying. I walked up to him and wrapped my hooves around him.
“Promise?” I whispered into his ear.
He returned the hug and replied “I promise that I’ll always be there for you no matter what.”
I let go of him and walked out of my room into the hallway. I glanced at the walls to look at the pictures, but with no light it was hard to see them. I got to the top of the stairs and paused to look behind me, and sure enough my big brother was right behind me.
“I’m right behind you don’t worry.” he mouthed.
I stepped on the top step ‘This is my first step to freedom and with my brother behind me this cannot fail.’ I thought to myself.
