//------------------------------// // The Meeting // Story: Canterlot High School Tales - A Secret Friendship // by UnknownCutieMarkCrusader //------------------------------// “Hello?” Silver Spoon said into her cell phone. “Silver! Thank Celestia you picked up,” Sweetie said letting out a sigh of relief. “How are you doing? Why didn’t you pick up before?” “Sorry,” Silver said “Diamond was here with me for most of the day and I don’t think she would have liked me answering the phone if you were the one calling.” “She still angry?” Sweetie asked knowing full well what the answer was. “Yeah, my injuries are minor. Just a few cuts on my face but Diamond is pretty mad at you guys,” Silver sighed. “I tried to explain to her that it was an accident but you know how stubborn she is.” “I know, my friends are the same way,” Sweetie rolled over on her bed and looked at a picture on her mantle. In the picture stood herself and Silver holding hands in front of the town fountain. It was one of the few times both of them were truly happy, a time away from all the fighting. Sweetie and Silver both longed for more times like that one. “Silver...this has to stop. The secret I mean. Our friends deserve to know what is going on.” “I agree,” Silver said. “Right now does not seem like the best time though. How about if we wait a bit for our friends to cool down from todays accident? I think if we tell them now it will only result in more fighting.” “Alright,” Sweetie agreed. “Hey, remember when we first became friends?” “On that rainy day? Yeah, I remember,” Silver Spoon smiled as the memory came back to her. Sweetie remembered how she felt when she was with Silver and remembered how earlier that day she was in her arms. Sweetie had never felt such bliss. “Silver….I miss you so much,” Sweetie said her eyes starting to water. “We have only been apart for a few hours.” Silver started before Sweetie interrupted. “That’s not what I mean. I miss being with you, the real you. I want to hang out with you in public again. I want us to have no worries. I just want to….be with you.” “I feel the same way,” Silver said her own voice trembling. Silver could hear the sorrow in her friends voice and fought against her own tears. “Let’s set up a time just for us. How about we set aside a few minutes before our class.” “Ok, and how about we meet under that big tree on the side of the school,” Sweetie said. “It’s a date,” Silver said making both of them blush. The next day Sweetie Belle made her way to the big tree where she and Silver agreed to meet. It had rained a few hours ago, the air was muggy and the ground was muddy but she walked with a spring in her step as she arrived at the school. “I’m coming Silvy,” Sweetie said to herself with glee. She walked over to the side of the school until the big old tree came into view. Silver Spoon was there leaning against the tree, waiting for her. “Silvy!” Sweetie called running toward her. “Hi Sweetie Be...WHOAH!” Silver yelled as Sweetie Belle jumped on her. “I missed you,” Sweetie said wrapping her arms and legs around Silver. “Sweetie, I can’t hold you...ahh!” Silver fell backwards plunging both of them into a big mud puddle. “Sweetie get off!” Silver yelled. “No!” Sweetie said squeezing her friend. “Sweetie, I can’t breath,” Silver wheezed. She turned over so Sweetie would be on the bottom but Sweetie still held on. After a minute of holding her friend Sweetie finally let go. “Sorry, I couldn’t control myself,” Sweetie said as she sat up. “You got us all filthy!” Silver said angrily as she stood up and tried to wring the muddy water out of her skirt. Sweetie smiled as she continued to sit in the puddle. “Why are you smiling?” Silver asked in an annoyed tone. “I think this is the first time you are actually angry with me,” Sweetie said happily. “It’s kinda cute.” Silver blushed although Sweetie couldn’t tell due to Silver’s face being covered in mud. Silver took off her slightly mud stained glasses and looked for something to wipe them off on. “You wouldn’t happen to have a clean towel or something on you would you Sweetie?” “Nope,” Sweetie said happily splashing around in the puddle. Silver couldn’t help but smile as she watched her friend splash around like a little kid. This was a side of Sweetie Belle few ever saw. The happy child like aura that surrounded her was infectious and Silver found herself kneeling down in the puddle in front of Sweetie Belle. “Boop,” Silver said as she poked Sweetie’s nose. Sweetie Belle let out a small squeak before retaliating. “Boop,” Sweetie said as she poked Silvers nose. Both girls started laughing. Neither one thought in a million years that they would be so happy sitting in a mud puddle with someone they once considered their enemy. The school bell rang as the girls quickly stood up. “We are going to be late!” Silver cried. The pair ran through the school, the sound of their wet shoes echoed throughout the hallway until they finally reached the classroom. “We made it!” Sweetie said as she opened the door causing their classmates to look in their direction. A silence spread across the room as the students looked at the two wet, mud covered girls. “Um….we can explain,” Sweetie started. “.....No we can’t,” Silver said as she hid behind Sweetie Belle.
