A Valentine's Catastrophe

by friedchicken96

The Worst Date Ever

“Please sto-” I yelled, cut off by a red sauce hitting me in the face. The substance got into my mouth and eyes, leaving a sensation of burning. I coughed, unable to get the burning sensation out of my throat. I couldn’t open my eyes either because they felt like they being roasted by a thousand suns.

I tried to get away from the fight, but I tripped and landed in water. I must be in the fountain, I thought. The water helped clean the sauce off of my face, so I emerged and opened my eyes.

Though they still felt like they were on fire, I could see clearly. The fighting stopped, as the girls noticed me sitting in the fountain. However, Blueblood being the diva that he is was still throwing food around.

Twilight helped me out of the fountain, “Are you okay?”

“Yeah.” I choked out, I guess my throat was still on fire too.

Suddenly the manager stormed in with a couple of police officers, and I knew we were toast.

My name is Sunset Shimmer, and well… this is how I’m spending my Valentines Day. It didn't start out like this, oh no. It started out much more innocently. It all began a few days ago in English class.

Mr. Thesis meant well, but his lectures were extraordinarily boring. Nearly half the class was falling asleep, or playing games on their phones.
I decided to write a letter to someone I consider a dear friend of mine. Though for awhile I've been wondering if I feel something a little more towards her, something stronger than just friendship.

        Dear Twilight Sparkle,

I scratched my head wondering what to write, I just wanted to talk to her because well… I missed her. It’d been about two months since the incident with the Dazzlings, and though we’d kept in touch though writing, I really wanted to see her again. We really bonded last time she was here, and I realized that she and I have a lot more in common than I ever thought.

That night at Pinkie’s house… That’s when I first started to feel this way. Now just the thought of her brings a smile to my face, and makes my heart beat a little faster.

Here in the human world we have a holiday coming up called Valentine’s Day. It’s pretty similar to Hearts and Hooves day back in Equestria.

I know I must seem hopeless, but that was all I could think to write. I guess my feelings for her were all I could think of.

The girls and I will probably be hanging out ourselves because I don’t believe any of them have a special somepony er, person. Rarity has been talking about one guy she’s hoping will get the nerves to ask her out, I think his name was Blueblood? But I kinda doubt he will because he seems like kind of a snob.

And then I got an idea: maybe I could invite Twilight to come to this world for Valentine’s Day. It would be so nice to see her again!

Anyways, if you don’t have anything to do for Hearts and Hooves Day, would you like to come over and hang out? It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you, and I miss you. We all miss you. Maybe we can sleep over at Pinkie’s again or something.

                                                                         Your friend, Sunset Shimmer.

I closed the book and hoped that she’d reply soon. I looked up at the clock, ten minutes until class ends and then its lunch time. I sighed, reminded of the small ache in my stomach. I looked back up and watched the clock again, each minute moved by slowly, and waiting for Twilight to respond was agony.

Finally the bell rang, and my book vibrated in unison. It managed to fall off my desk and open to the page where Twilight had responded. Flash Sentry picked it up, and I watched in horror as his eyes scanned the page, taking in its contents.

“You can write to Twilight in this book? Does this mean she’s really coming over for Valentines Day?”

Damn it Flash, don’t you know it’s rude to read someone’s journal without permission? I took the book from his hands and held it to my chest. “Um, yeah I can write to Twilight with this book… I guess she’ll be coming here…”

He looked amazed. “Why didn’t you tell me about this before? I’ve been wanting to talk to her since the competition. Hey, do you think I can ask her on a date for Valentine’s Day? Oh this is perfect! Hand me that book so I can ask her.”

I grit my teeth, how dare he! He can’t just expect me to let him write to Twilight using my journal just cause he wants to ask her on a date. “No Flash, I am not letting you write in my book. And next time, don’t read someone’s personal journal without asking them.”

“Jeez what’s your deal? You don’t have to be so selfish. It’s like you haven’t changed at all.” He pouted and stormed off.

Praise Celestia that he didn’t stay, because I’m not sure I would have been able to stop myself from slapping him. What in the world does Twilight see in that jerk?

It wasn’t hard for the girls to tell something was wrong when I sat down at the lunch table.

Pinkie Pie glanced up at me with a frown, no longer playing with her food. “Sunset you look like you got bit by a snake, or something else that’d make you really angry!”

Rarity nodded her head in agreement, “I don’t know about getting bit by a snake, but you do seem to be a bit on edge. Whatever is the matter dear?”

I sighed. “Flash found out my journal can communicate with Twilight, and now he wants to use it to ask her on a date. I told him no and he said I was acting just like my mean old self would.”

Fluttershy put her hand on mine trying to comfort me. “That was rather mean of him.”

Rainbow Dash spoke between mouthfuls of food, “Well, why didn’t you let him ask Twilight out? They both like each other and I’m sure Twilight would appreciate you setting up a date with him for her.”

I had to stop myself from cringing, I guess that would be a good question considering I hadn’t really told the girls how I felt for Twilight. “I… I don’t know. I guess it just doesn’t sit right with me letting him use my book. I invited Twilight over for Valentine’s Day to hang out with just us girls, and I didn’t even get to read her response before the book fell on the floor and Flash picked it up.”

Applejack perked up, “It sure would be nice to see Twilight again, why not you go ahead and read her response since ya haven’t yet.”
I brought the book out of my bag and read its newest entry aloud.

        Dear Sunset Shimmer,
That sounds like a wonderful idea! I would love to see you girls again, and I don’t really have anything planned for Hearts and Hooves Day. I’ll let everyone here know I’ll be leaving and will get ready for the trip. When would be the best time for me to come over?
                                                                         Your friend Twilight Sparkle.

Pinkie Pie threw her hands in the air and squealed, “Yay! This is going to be the best Valentine’s Day ever! Oh, I’ll have to plan a super fun party for us! I’m so excited!”

Rarity grinned, “Well a party would be nice, but some of us might have dates.”

Rainbow scoffed, “Yeah, cause some of us want to date snooty rich boys with fancy hair.”

“He’s not snooty! Besides I was speaking for Twilight as well, it seems like Flash may get the chance to ask her on a date after all when she comes over.” Rarity grinned.

I felt my stomach churn at the thought, and suddenly I didn't want to eat anymore. I didn't know what to do. Could I really ask Twilight to be my Valentine? I don’t even know if she likes girls, and I know for a fact that she likes Flash Sentry.

“Sunset darling you’ve been spacing out for awhile, is everything okay?”

“I’m okay Rarity, I just feel a little sick is all. I guess I ate something bad.”

Rarity pouted, and I could tell she didn’t believe a word I said. “Are you… jealous?”

Oh Celestia, did she really figure it out that easily? “W-what are you talking about? Why would I be jealous?”

“Oh I don’t know… maybe because you and a certain boy who Twilight likes used to date?”

Phew, I guess she really had no idea after all. I swear I would laugh if not for the fact my secret was on the line. I guess it’s weird to for me
keep this from them though, after all I know they’re accepting of people like me, but I was too embarrassed to admit it. “Rarity, I told you awhile ago that I’m not jealous at all and Twilight can have Flash if she wants him. After all, I was only dating him to become popular. Flash can ask Twilight out if he wants to, and I have no reason to care.”

“Anyways,” I said, desperately trying to change the subject, “What time should I tell Twilight to come over?”

Pinkie answered, “Well Friday after school should be good so we can have a sleepover for all of us to hang out before Valentine’s Day, and maybe she can even stay with us the whole weekend!”

“Good idea Pinkie.” I said, and wrote a response in my journal telling Twilight of Pinkie’s plans.
The bell rang, promptly ending our lunch period. I was grateful that I wouldn't have to endure anymore of Rarity’s questions for now.

After school, Pinkie Pie confronted me at my locker. “Hey Sunset, why are you keeping your crush on Twilight a secret?”

If I had been drinking a glass of water, I would have been doing one of those spit takes like on TV.  “How did you find out?!”

She grinned as cheerful as ever, “It was easy silly! Obviously since you don’t want Flash and Twilight to date, and you don’t like Flash, that means you like Twilight!”

I sighed, I guess it was kind of obvious. “Do you think the other girls figured it out too?”

“Maybe, but I don’t know for sure. Why’d you keep it a secret anyway? You know we would all support you regardless right?”

“Of course I do Pinkie. I guess I’m just a little embarrassed, and I’m probably not going to tell Twilight how I feel anyway.”

Pinkie gasped in a dramatic kind of way that only she could pull off. “But why not? If you don’t tell her how you feel you’ll never know if she feels the same way!”

I sighed, closing my locker and leaning against it. “I know she doesn’t feel the same way because she already likes Flash. There’s no point in telling her how I feel.”

Pinkie grabbed my shoulders staring into my eyes with determination, “No, I won’t let you give up like that! You can’t just let Flash steal your waifu like that! If you try I bet you can steal her heart easy!”

I noticed a few people starting to stare at us. “Not so loud Pinkie! Also what the heck is a waifu?”

“A waifu is what Twilight will be once you confess to her! So don’t give up, okay? I believe in you!” With that said she gave me a quick hug and took off running, shouting something about ships.

The next day at lunch I decided it was time to tell all the girls about my feelings for Twilight. Despite the fact that they’re my friends, I still had butterflies in my stomach.

I picked at my food, not really feeling that hungry. I decided to stall, “So how has class been today?” I asked them.

“It was good.” Fluttershy said with a smile. “My essay on animal rights got an A+.”

“That’s great Fluttershy.” I answered. Of course she’d get a good grade, she’s quite passionate on the topic even though she’s a bit outspoken.

“My classes have been kinda boring,” Rainbow said, “history in particular. I just really don’t care! Why do we even have to learn this stuff? I want to be an athlete, not a historian.”

“No offense sugarcube, but it is pretty important to learn our history. It’s important to avoid making the same mistakes as people did in the past.” Applejack explained.

“Well, I’m not being a politician either. I honestly couldn't care less about stupid, boring, dumb history! Ugh!” Rainbow groaned.

“I actually kinda like history class,” I admitted. “It’s pretty interesting learning the differences between this world’s history and Equestrian history.” And honestly, human history was pretty violent.

“Pfft, you don’t get to talk ‘Miss Sunset all A’s Shimmer’.” Rainbow sighed, “I just don’t understand how all of these subjects are so easy for you.”

“Well, I did go to an advanced school back home. I even got to study under Princess Celestia herself. She taught me everything I needed to know about magic, and you’d be surprised how much math goes into advanced spells. In fact, I spent most of my days in the library studying.” I really miss magic, why does this world have to be so empty of it?

“You know, Sunset, I never would have guessed you were such a nerdy egghead.”

I laughed, “Yeah, I guess I kind of am.”

“So I decided to go ahead and ask Blueblood on a date for Valentine’s Day.” Rarity spoke with a look of pride on her face. “And he said yes!” She squealed.

“Isn’t it a little strange for a girl to ask a guy out?” Applejack asked.

“Well, it’s not the most typical thing, but I couldn’t wait for him to ask me any longer. Besides, the end result will be the same no matter who asks whom. I’ve liked him for much too long to be able to wait for him to ask me. ” Rarity grinned.

“Speaking of crushes…” Pinkie said looking directly at me.

Damn it Pinkie, she knew I was avoiding this.

“Oh? Little miss egghead has a crush? Fess up!” Rainbow said with a laugh.

I sighed, “Yeah I kind of do.” I felt my cheeks grow hot.

Rarity raised her eyebrow, and I had a feeling she already knew who it was. “Do tell darling, I think we’d all like to know. I promise I won’t judge.”

“I…” I swallowed, fighting against my nerves. “I like Twilight.” I finally said.

I looked down at my food, unable to look any of them in the eyes. “I guess I should have said something sooner, but it just felt kind of embarrassing. Also I’ve always kind of liked girls better than boys, and I know that kind of freaks some people out.”

“Hey, chin up.” Rainbow said. I looked at her, and she was smiling. “To be honest, I like girls too. I even used to date a girl named Gilda a couple years ago. We went to soccer camp together.” She blushed.

I smiled. “Thanks Rainbow.”

“You don’t have to worry Sunset, none of us will think of you any differently.” Fluttershy said with a smile.

“I guess I had nothing to worry about after all. Thanks girls, it means a lot.”

“Well,” Rarity started. “Are you going to tell her when she comes?”

“I probably should.” I said, “Especially if Flash wants to ask her on a date. I can’t let him beat me to it.”

“Well what can we do to help sugarcube?” Applejack asked.

“We need to get to the portal right after school on Friday to make sure that she doesn’t wander around the school and see Flash.” I explained.

“But what do we do if Flash sees us waiting at the portal, and decides to wait with us?” Rainbow asked.

“I guess we’d need someone to distract him to make sure he leaves.”

“That sounds like a good plan to me!” Pinkie exclaimed.

Friday afternoon came quickly, and I sat in my last class staring at the clock with anticipation, both excited and nervous for Twilight’s arrival. When the bell finally rang I jumped out of my seat causing the teacher to glare. “Get back in your seat Ms. Shimmer, just because the bell has rung does not mean class is dismissed. I have one more announcement before I can let you all go.”

Are you kidding me?! I heard a few students groan and we all sat back down. Damn this teacher, doesn’t she understand we have things to do after class? It took an extra five minutes for her to finish talking and finally let us out of class.

Finally free, I jumped out of my seat and ran out the door, I just had to get to the statue before she arrived. The hallway turned into an obstacle course as I had to dodge groups of people coming and going.

I was nearly to the front of the school before I crashed into someone who’d just walked out of a class room. “Oh gosh I’m so sorry I-”
“Sunset?” I looked down at Flash Sentry who I’d manage to fall on top of.

“Here,” I said offering him my hand to help him up. Just because I don’t like him doesn’t mean I shouldn’t act civil. “I’m sorry for knocking you down.”

“It’s okay,” He said letting me pull him up. “What’s the hurry though?”

I racked my brain trying to think of an excuse, “Um, I-”

“Hi Sunset, hi Flash!” I froze. That voice… no please no!

Twilight smiled at the two of us, “I got here a little early, so I figured I’d come inside and find everyone.”

I was mentally screaming when I saw Flash take Twilight’s hands and she blushed. “Twilight, it’s really good to see you again. I was wondering if maybe you’d like to go out to dinner with me on Valentine’s Day?”

No! This can’t be happening… What do I do now?! I stared at Twilight in horror waiting for her answer. Will she say yes? Is there some chance… any chance that she’ll say no?

“Okay, that sounds like a fun! I’d love to.”

Of course she said yes, why would I expect anything different? I think something in me died a little bit at those words. Twilight and Flash were going on a date for Valentine’s Day. I could just picture it, the two of them eating together, laughing together and then kissing under a brightly lit moon. I wanted to scream and throw up at the same time. Just the thought of them together …kissing… It made my stomach churn.
But Twilight really liked him and I wanted her to be happy even if that meant letting Flash have her. I guess it was pointless to hope that I’d even have a chance.

“Sunset, you there?” I was brought out of my trance by Twilight looking at me with her eye brows wrinkled in concern. I hadn’t even noticed that Flash left.

“Oh, yeah sorry. I just spaced out for a minute. Let’s go find the other girls, I’m sure they’ll be happy to see you too.” She still seemed a little worried but didn’t say anything else.

The other girls were waiting at the front of the school like we’d planned, and were surprised to see me walking up to them with Twilight already here.

“Oh hello darling!” Rarity greeted with a wary smile. “It sure is nice to see you again, though I thought you’d be here ten minutes from now.”

“Well I got here a bit early. I thought Spike would be coming along, but it turns out he managed to get a date for Hearts and Hooves day at the last minute and wanted to stay.”

“That’s wonderful, good for him! I didn’t know that dogs go on dates.” Rarity smiled sheepishly, obviously confused on the matter.

“Well he’s a dragon over there, so he’s not treated like a pet. Which means he can get a date with a pony.” She explained.

Fluttershy looked up in confusion, “But if a dragon becomes a dog, and a pony becomes a human, wouldn’t that be bestiality?”

I stopped paying attention at that point, I guess you could say I was sulking as we walked to Pinkie Pie’s house.

Applejack nudged me with her elbow and whispered to me while the others were distracted, “Did she meet up with Flash after all?”

I nodded, “Yep and they’re going to dinner tomorrow night too.”

She put her hand on my shoulder and whispered, “I’m so sorry sugarcube.”

“Pizza’s here!” Pinkie shouted bringing two large boxes into her bedroom, and everyone grabbed a slice. We all sat on Pinkie’s bed munching on our own slices.

“So what do you girls wanna do tomorrow?” Pinkie asked, “I know Rarity has a date, but we can schedule fun around that.”

“Actually, I have a date too.” Twilight said, and I noticed a few of the girls eyes go wide. “Flash asked me to dinner tomorrow night.” She blushed and brushed her fingers through her hair. It’s not fair that she can act so cute thinking about Flash. He sure is lucky to have a girl like Twilight fawning over him.

“Hey I have a super exciting game for us to play!” Pinkie squealed, “Twilight, go find Maud’s pet Boulder and feed him exactly fifteen gallons of whipped cream!”

“What-”

“No time for questions! You have exactly five minutes to do it or you’ll lose! The game starts now!” Pinkie said pushing Twilight up.

“But Pink-”

“Clock is ticking Twilight, clock is ticking!”

“Ugh, fine!” Twilight said hurrying out the door.

“Okay we have five minutes till Twilight comes back so we gotta make a new plan! Operation Sunlight!” Pinkie cried jumping on her bed.

“Pinkie I don’t think there’s anything we can do at this point.” I said with a sigh.

“No way I’m not letting you give up! There’s gotta be something we can do, come on people think!” Pinkie shouted.

“Well, maybe we could have a double date. That way Blueblood and I could keep an eye on them.”

“That’s a good start Rarity, but we need something bigger something better! Something that will guarantee that Sunset will get a chance to confess her feelings to Twilight!”

“Pinkie that really isn’t necessary,” I began. “Flash makes Twilight smile and blush, and I can’t do that. She deserves someone who will make her happy.”

“Sugarcube, Flash and Twilight barely even know each other. It’s just a crush and Twilight could figure out that she likes someone else more.”

“I don’t know…” I sighed tracing the pattern on Pinkie’s blanket with my finger. “I guess it’s possible but what if Twilight has so much fun on her date that she decides she wants to keep dating him forever?”

“Well we could make sure that she has a bad date!” Pinkie exclaimed.

“Wouldn’t that be kinda mean?” I asked.

“Maybe a little, but it depends on how we do it. Rarity what kind of costumes do you have?” Pinkie asked.

“Hold on, what would we need costumes for?” Rainbow asked.

“Disguises, duh! We’re going to disguise ourselves and follow Twilight around on her date. We can interrupt them if things get too romantic.” Pinkies smiled, “Operation Sunlight will be a total success!”

“I’m not so sure about this Pinkie, don’t you think it’d be a little silly to dress up and follow her around like that?”

Before anyone could answer my question, Twilight burst through the door covered in whipped cream and holding a rock. “I… I did it!” She
panted, before Maud came up behind her and tackled her to the ground taking Boulder from her hands.

“Boulder doesn’t like to be held by strange people. Don’t do this again.” She said walking out calmly and closing the door.

“I… I think we should play a different game.” Twilight said trying to catch her breath.

“Good job Twilight! You won, which means you get to have the first shower tonight, and I think you need it.” Pinkie giggled and picked some whipped cream off of Twilight’s head and stuck it in her mouth. “Tasty.”

At around midnight the girls decided it was time to go to sleep. However, I couldn’t seem to fall asleep. I stared up at the ceiling, hearing the clock tick and Rainbow’s snore. I glanced at the clock. It read 2:45. I sighed and got up, careful not to wake the others as I left the room.

I went to the kitchen, got a glass of water, and sat at the counter. I took a sip, and then watched the ice spin around in the cup when I set it back down.

I couldn’t stop thinking about how terribly things were going. Twilight and Flash would be going on a fancy dinner date tomorrow and I couldn’t stop it. I knew that Pinkie was planning to ruin their date, but that didn’t make me feel any better. I’d rather just accept my loss and let them enjoy their date.

The moment kept playing over and over in my head, it all happened so fast. I wondered if I’d just managed to say something that maybe I could have changed things. It would have been even better if I hadn’t run into Flash, maybe then I would have met up with Twilight instead before she could talk to him.

I was interrupted from my thoughts by the sound of footsteps heading towards the kitchen. Twilight entered with a yawn and got herself a cup of water as well.

“Sorry if I woke you up.” I said.

“It’s okay.” She responded, rubbing the sleep from her eyes, and taking a seat next to me.

“I’m actually kind of glad that we get to talk like this again, especially since we didn’t get much time to talk one on one earlier today.” She said taking a sip of her water.

I smiled, “Yeah, I’ve been wondering how things are going back home in Equestria.”

“It’s actually been kind of boring. I’ve mostly been getting things moved into my new castle. Honestly it’s still pretty weird that I live in a castle.” She sighed.

“Not so easy being a princess is it?”

“I wouldn’t say that. Though I do have some new responsibilities as the Princess of Friendship, sometimes it just feels like a fancy title. Celestia raises the sun, Luna raises the moon, and Cadence runs the Crystal Empire, but what do I do? Make friends? I barely even managed to help you guys defeat the Dazzlings.”

I couldn’t believe that she felt so down on herself. I put my hand on my shoulder and she looked up at me. “You really shouldn’t sell yourself short! You’ve done lots of great things. You reformed Nightmare Moon, Discord, and me too. I’m so grateful to you that you helped me change. I don’t even know who I was back then, but I never want to be like her again. So thank you Twilight Sparkle.”

Twilight had a look of surprise on her face. “Wow, I guess I never really thought about it like that. You know, I’m really glad that we met. Even if it wasn’t under the best circumstances, I’ve learned so much just from being in this world, and I’m sure there’s even more left for me to learn. Not to mention I’m really glad that we’ve become friends, so thank you too, Sunset Shimmer.”

Her smile was so bright, so genuine, that my heart rate quickened and I felt my cheeks redden. I looked back down at my drink hoping she wouldn’t notice. “It makes me really happy to hear you say that.” I finally answered.

“Well I think we should both try and get some sleep. It is pretty late after all.” Twilight said.

“Yeah.” I agreed. Talking to Twilight helped me feel a little bit better, and I had no more trouble trying to fall asleep.

The next day was Valentine’s Day, and we all went over to Rarity’s house so the two could get dressed for their dates and the rest of us could get some disguises.

“I still can’t believe we’re doing this, I feel like this is a bad idea.”

“Don’t worry Sunset, we’ve got this! What’s the worst thing that could happen?” Pinkie asked going through Rarity’s closet.

“Well Twilight could see through our disguises, and get mad at us for trying to ruin her date.” I began, “or the restaurant staff could remember that they never hired a mariachi band and we could get kicked out. There, that’s two things.”

“Oh Sunset don’t be silly, everything will be fine!” Pinkie said, putting a sombrero on my head.

“I don’t know Sugarcube, I think Sunset might be right. There are plenty of ways this could go wrong. Besides we don’t even know any Spanish songs.” Applejack said.

“Well do you guys have any better ideas?” Pinkie asked.

“We could just leave them alone and let them have their date,” I suggested.

“That doesn’t count as a better idea! If we just let them date, then Flash could steal her heart away for good, and you’ll never get your chance!”

I sighed, “And that’s okay Pinkie. I think it’s really sweet of you for trying to help me like this but maybe it’s just not meant to be. Besides, I don’t think dressing up as a mariachi band is going to help us much.”

Pinkie frowned. “No Sunset, please don’t give up like that. Ever since Flash found out about your journal your smile vanished. Now all I see from you are fake smiles, and I can’t just sit around doing nothing when someone has taken my friend’s smile away!”

Wow, how can I say no to something that sweet?

“Pinkie’s right,” Rainbow said. “I mean this does seem kinda like a crazy plan and all, but you can’t give up! Sometimes you have to think of your own happiness, and if you never tell Twilight how you feel just cause you want her to be happy then you’re just gonna be sad.”

I smiled, what did I do to deserve friends like them? “You guys are right, I guess I do deserve a chance. Still, I think we should rethink our plan. I don’t think being in a mariachi band will help me confess to Twilight.”

Pinkie grinned, “Anything to keep you smiling! Do you have anything in mind?”

“Hm,” I thought, “Couldn’t we just watch them from a few tables over? We could even tell Twilight that we just want to have a girls date. That way we won’t have any secrets or disguises, just honesty.”

“That sounds good to me!” Applejack chuckled.

Pinkie tapped her chin in thought, “So we can spy on them, but what do we do if they start getting all romantic? We can’t let the date go that well.”

“I know!” Rainbow answered, “We can be sneaky and mess up their orders and stuff. I have plenty of ideas for things we can do.”

I feel kind of bad about messing up their date but, this may be the only chance I have. “Alright,” I say, “If we’re going on a girls date we might as well dress up too right? I think looking for dresses will be more fun than looking for costumes has been. I’m pretty sure Rarity makes more dresses than costumes anyway.

“Ugh I hate getting dressed up,” Rainbow complained. “It’s too much work.”

“But Rainbow you have to wear something nice on a diner date, especially if it’s at a fancy restaurant.” Fluttershy spoke.

“Yeah,” Pinkie exclaimed, “And we gotta make sure Sunset looks extra pretty so that way she can really impress Twilight! I guess Rarity would know best what would work, we should get her help.”

We then left the costume closet and entered Rarity’s studio where she was finishing doing Twilight's hair. They were both dressed up nicely, Rarity wearing a sparkly blue gown, and Twilight wearing a green dress that looked to be styled from the 1950s. She looked absolutely stunning.

I felt my cheeks grow hot when she turned to me and smiled. I swear that girl’s smile could kill me.

Rarity turned Twilight’s head back to the mirror, interrupting me from my thoughts. “Now Twilight dear, you must keep your head still while I’m curling your hair. Oh hello girls!” She said finally noticing us. “Do you need something?”

Pinkie answered, “We were thinking, and decided it’s not fair that both of you have dates and none of us do, so we’re going to have a girls date! Can we borrow your dresses?”

Rarity beamed, “Well that sounds like a lovely idea. I’ll be done with Twilights hair in just a second, and I’ll make sure to find something fabulous for each of you to wear!”

It wasn’t long before Twilight’s hair was done, and it hung in soft curls around her face and past her shoulders. Applejack pinched me to make me stop staring.

Rarity pulled out one of her dress racks and shuffled through the dresses. “I always make sure to have dresses prepared for special occasions. It’s important to be prepared after all. Only problem is I never got your measurements, Sunset, so I hope I can find you something that fits.”

Rarity walked over to her desk and grabbed her measuring tape, wrapped it around my waist, and then held it up to my shoulders. “Yes I should definitely have something that will fit you. Now what color would be best? Magenta would be nice but something azure would match your eyes. Hm…”

Rarity chose three different dresses and handed them to me. “Try these on. Twilight, would you be a dear and give Sunset a hand if she needs it? I still need to find dresses for the others.”

“Of course.” She said with a smile.

I stared at Rarity aghast. She simply responded with a wink that seemed to say ‘you’ll thank me for this later’.

Twilight and I walked over to the dressing room. “Why don’t you just wait outside, and I’ll let you know if I need any help.”

“That’s fine, just come out to show me when you’re done changing.” She instructed.

I closed the curtain, undressed, and took the first dress off its hanger. It was a black halter top with a low back. It seemed more like the kind of dress you would wear to a night club. Thankfully I had no problems putting it on, but it showed a lot more skin than I really wanted. I had to admit I looked kind of hot in it, but I was a little nervous to show Twilight. I’m positive Rarity did this on purpose.

I opened the curtain and stepped out to show Twilight. “What do you think?” I asked.

I looked up nervously to see her reaction. Was she… blushing? I shook my head. I must have been imagining things.

“It looks nice.” She finally said. “Why not you go ahead and try the others on?”

The next dress I tried on was a bit too small and I struggled trying to pull it over my hips, and then I heard some of the stitching tear. “I don’t think this one fits.”

“Do you need some help?” She didn’t wait for my answer before opening the curtain on me.

I had only managed to get the dress halfway on, so Twilight got a full view of my bra. I’m sure that my face must have turned bright red.
“Oh s-sorry!” Twilight blushed. “I d-didn’t realize that-”

“It’s okay, just help me get the rest of this on.” I put my arms through the sleeves.

“I just need you to zip up the back.” I turned so my back faced her.

Twilight wordlessly pulled the zipper up, only for it to get stuck around the middle. I felt her cold hands on my back as she tried to get the zipper to stop sticking.

“I don’t think I can get it.” She finally admitted.

“That’s okay, I’ll just try on the next one.”

She unzipped the back and left to let me change into the next one. I’m pretty sure both of us were embarrassed about what just happened.
Luckily I had no problems getting the next dress on, and it fit rather nicely. The dress was light blue, and the bottom had a shear black cloth with a floral pattern overlaying it. I opened the curtain to show Twilight.

“Wow, that one looks great on you! You look really cute.” She grinned widely.

I blushed. “I guess it’s a bit different from the whole ‘bad girl’ look, huh.”

“It is, but I like it.” She replied.

Her opinion was enough for me to decide that the dress was perfect. “Alright then, let’s go tell Rarity.” We walked to the other side of the room where Rarity was picking out dresses for the other girls.

“You look lovely darling, good choice. Now give me just a few minutes and I’ll start on your hair.” She tied my hair into a tight bun on the top of my head, leaving a few strands out to frame my face. I hate to admit it, but I felt really pretty. It’s funny how just putting on a dress and having your hair done can do that to you.

We went to a fancy Mexican restaurant called Palacio de la Rosas, it was structured like a large mud house, with a colorful tiled floor, and a large fountain in the middle of the restaurant. I wondered if the boys could really afford to take Twilight and Rarity here, considering they were just highschoolers.

Twilight and Rarity sat with their dates at a table next to the fountain, and the rest of us sat at a booth on the edge of the room. We had a full view of them, but they weren’t within ear shot. I glanced across the room at them. They seemed to be having a pretty good time, and it looked as though Twilight was laughing at something Flash said. I sighed and stared back down at the table.

“Turn that frown upside down Sunset!” Pinkie said, “We’re gonna make sure they have the worst date ever!”

“Well do ya have any ideas on what we can do?” Applejack asked, “What can we do when they’re way over there?”

“Pinkie Pie always has a plan Applejack! Don’t you know me by now?” Pinkie asked, pointing a finger in her face. “I even came up with code names! Code blue means one of us goes to the bathroom and passes by their table really slowly to eavesdrop! Code yellow means when you’re on your way to the bathroom cause some sort of chaos like bumping into their table and spilling their drinks on them, and code red means we need to do something super crazy before they have a super romantic moment!”

“Um Pinkie,” Fluttershy whispered, fiddling with the ends of her hair. “I’m not so sure how I feel about messing up their date it just seems really… rude.”

“Yeah,” I agreed. “I don’t think this is really fair to Flash…”

“But Flash has been mean to you plenty of times! Like that time we were performing and you knocked Rainbow down and he was all like, ‘there’s that bad girl we love to hate’!” Pinkie mocked.

“Yeah but-”

“And then he got mad at you cause you wouldn’t let him write to Twilight in your journal and said you were acting like your old self!”

“But-”

“And then he made Twilight cry! So what if he was under the Dazzlings spell, he made her cry!”

It’s true he did make Twilight cry, but before I was changed by the Elements of Harmony I was pretty awful to Twilight too. If I compare the two of us, I’ve definitely hurt Twilight more.

“But Pinkie-”

“No time! Code blue, the waitress is taking their order! Go Sunset, go to the bathroom fast!”

I groaned and got out of my seat walking over to the bathroom, but making sure to get within earshot of Twilight’s table.

Flash was speaking, “I’d like the red chili enchiladas please.”

The waitress wrote in her notebook and then gestured to Twilight, “And what would you like, miss?”

“I don’t really know much about the food here, so I guess I’ll have the same thing.” I saw her smile out of the corner of my eye.

Sweet Celestia, she has no idea what’s in the food here. I’m pretty sure there’s meat in that dish, and I doubt she’ll be able to handle that much spice. It’s rare for any Equestrian to like spicy food since we mostly eat grains.

“Give me the most expensive item on the menu.” I heard Blueblood say. Damn, he must be loaded!

I couldn’t stall anymore and could no longer hear their conversation. I waited a few minutes in the bathroom so I wouldn’t seem suspicious. Just as I was about to leave, Twilight walked in.

“Oh hey Sunset!” She said with an innocent smile. How does she manage to pull off such a cute smile?

“Hey Twilight, how’s your date going?” I faked a smile.

“It’s been pretty nice so far, but Blueblood’s been pretty obnoxious the whole time. The Rarity in my world once got a date with him too, so I don’t think this will go very well for her either.”

“So what happened?” I asked.

“I don’t really know, but Rarity made it pretty clear that she never wanted to see him again afterwards.” Twilight shuddered, “That really wasn’t a fun night for any of us.”

Looks like this date might just ruin itself. “So, how about Flash, are you having fun with him at least?”

“Yeah, it’s been pretty fun. He keeps mocking Blueblood when he’s not looking. It’s pretty funny.” She smiled. Guess I spoke too soon.

“Y-you really like Flash don’t you?” I asked, though I knew hearing the answer would probably torture me.

She blushed, “I guess so, I mean I don’t know him that well yet but something about him just makes me nervous and happy at the same time. It’s kind of weird I guess.”

I forced a smile. “Well, I hope that it goes well.” The lie left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Twilight frowned, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, what made you think anything was wrong?” I asked, doing my best to fake it.

Twilight gasped, “You and Flash used to date! I’m sorry I totally forgot! This must be kind of hard for you, and I’ve just been rubbing it in. I’m really sorry Sunset!” She said and grabbed my hands.

She had such an earnest look of concern on her face, but she had no idea why I was really upset. I felt like I was going to cry. I didn’t know what to say, and instead I pulled her into a tight hug, doing my best to hold back tears.

“Sunset?”

“You have nothing to be sorry for.” I managed to choke out. “Don’t worry about me okay?”

I broke the hug and looked her in the eyes with the best smile I could manage, “Have fun on your date.”

I left the bathroom without waiting for a response. I wiped away the tears that had managed to form at the corners of my eyes and walked slowly back to the table making sure to take deep breaths to calm myself down.

“Okay soldier, gimme your report!” Pinkie asked as soon as I sat back down.

I sighed, “Twilight and Flash both ordered some spicy enchiladas, and then I talked to Twilight in the bathroom.”

Pinkie frowned, “Well what did she say?”

“That the date was going well, and she likes Flash.”

“Well I guess this calls for a code yellow!” Pinkie gave a weary smile. It was obvious she was concerned.

I would have told her that I’d much rather go home, but then I’d probably receive another speech about not giving up.

“Well, we could just enjoy our dinner for now.” Fluttershy suggested

“I think that would be nice.” I said with a forced smile.

I finally got the chance to look at my menu, and the waitress came to take our orders. All was well, and we talked about trivial things like school, and new song ideas. It really helped to get Twilight and Flash off my mind if only for a little while.

Of course it didn’t last though. Suddenly Pinkie whispered “code yellow” and got up from the table. I watched as the waitress walked over to Twilight’s table carrying a tray that held their meals.

My eyes widened with realization and I got up after her, “Pinkie no!”

I caught up to her just in time to push her out of the way, but I ran directly into the waitress causing her to lose balance and let go of the tray. The plates fell off the tray, and spilled their contents over Twilight, Flash, Rarity, and Blueblood.

Blueblood shrieked so loudly that the whole restaurant went quiet, and all eyes were on us. “This is all your fault!” He yelled and threw a handful of beans at me.

Except he missed, and hit the women sitting in the chair behind me. The women threw the contents of her plate in our direction hitting me, Pinkie, and Blueblood who was directly behind us.

I heard someone shout “Food fight!” and food started flying everywhere. Who knew a bunch of adults would actually participate in a food fight? I hid under the table amidst the chaos finding Rarity who was hiding there as well.

“I don’t suppose this was part of the plan?” Rarity asked, trying to get some cheese out of her hair.

“There wasn’t really a plan to begin with. I know Pinkie was going to try and mess up the meals, so I tried to stop her, and then this happened.” I said sheepishly.

“Well this entire situation has gotten out of control! Try to see if you can get a handle on it darling, maybe you can stop this before we all get in huge trouble with the manager.”

I was pretty sure we were already in huge trouble with the manager by now, but I nodded and returned to the battle field that once was a fancy restaurant. Through the chaos, I manage to make out Pinkie, Applejack, and Rainbow fighting against Flash, Twilight and Blueblood. I couldn’t tell who was taking it seriously and who wasn’t. I also noticed that pretty much all the other customers had left.

“Waifu stealer!” Pinkie yelled, while throwing a multitude of tacos at Flash.

“What the heck is a waifu?!” He yelled back, dodging the first few tacos and getting hit in the face with the last two. He picked through the tacos that had missed him, throwing their contents back at Pinkie Pie, covering her dress.

“Stop fighting!” I yelled into the fray getting hit in the chest with… I don’t even know but it fell into my bra.

The culprit turned out to be Flash, who yelled back, “Weren’t you the one who started it?”

“It was an accident!” I yelled in my defense. Damn you Flash, why do you always have to be a jerk?

Twilight noticed and tried to help, “Let’s stop this before someone gets hurt!”

Blueblood shouted next, while throwing fistfuls of food at my friends. “I will not stop fighting until you peasants repent for ruining my suit!”

“Your suit was ugly to begin with,” Rainbow answered, returning his shots with her own. “I think it looks a lot better now.”

They weren’t listening to me, what could I do?

I noticed Twilight next to me mutter, “If only I had my magic…”

“I think that’s what I miss most from Equestria.” I said and smiled at her, only to remember the havoc in front of me when I got hit in the back with something slimy.

“Please sto-” I yelled cut off by a red sauce hitting me in the face. The substance got into my mouth and eyes, leaving a sensation of burning.
I coughed, unable to get the burning sensation out of my throat. I couldn’t open my eyes either because they felt like they being roasted by a thousand suns.

I tried to get away from the fight, but I tripped over and landed in water. I must be in the fountain, I thought. The water helped clean the sauce off of my face, so I emerged and opened my eyes.

Though they still felt like they were on fire, I could see clearly. The fighting stopped, as the girls noticed me sitting in the fountain. However, Blueblood being the diva that he is, was still throwing food around.

Twilight helped me out of the fountain, “Are you okay?”

“Yeah.” I choked out, I guess my throat was still burning too.

Suddenly the manager stormed in with a couple of police officers, and I knew we were toast.

“Oh thank goodness you came!” Blueblood exclaimed, “You simply must do something about the vagrants!”

The manager glared at him, “I’m going to have you kids fined for starting a food fight in my restaurant!”

The police gathered us up into one of the restaurants back offices and told us to explain what happened. One of the officers went into another office to talk with the manager, and the other stayed to talk to us.

I started, “My friend Pinkie and I were on our way to the bathroom, and I tripped and fell into the waitress causing her to spill her food on them.”

The policeman nodded, writing in a little notebook. “What happened next?”

“Blueblood threw some food back at me, but it ended up hitting another customer instead. That’s when things got out of control.” I answered.
He nodded again writing it down. “Now Mr. Blueblood, is what she says true?”

“False! She obviously pushed the waitress because she wanted the food to fall on us!”

The police officer chewed his pen, “And why do you think that?”

“Because she’s evil! I know, because she has a bad reputation at our school.” I cringed, there went my handle on the situation.

The cop raised an eyebrow, “Does anyone else think Ms. Shimmer may have pushed the waitress?”

Flash raised his hand, and Twilight looked at him in shock.

“And why Mr. Sentry, do you think that?” The cop asked, still chewing on the end of his pen.

“Well she has done some pretty crazy things in the past. Plus she used to be my girlfriend, and I was on a date tonight with Twilight. I don’t know for sure, but that could have something to do with it.” He explained.

The police officer looked at me, “Do you have anything to say about this Ms. Shimmer?”

I bit my lip, “I used to be a bit of a different person. Someone who would do anything she could to get what she wanted,” I looked to Twilight and my friends. “But these girls showed me that I was wrong, and helped me to become a better person. As for Flash, I don’t care who he dates. I didn’t push the waitress, I had no reason to. It was an accident.”

The cop seemed to accept that and wrote it down in his notebook. “Can the rest of you girls verify that as true?” The girls responded with nods and a few variations of the word yes.

“I saw her push the waitress though!” Blueblood exclaimed, “Her arms were out like this!” Blueblood demonstrated, stretching his arms out in front of him.

“Did anyone else at the table see her push the waitress?” The police man asked.

Flash answered, “It kinda looked like she did from where I was sitting.”

“Well what about Ms. Sparkle and Ms. Rarity, what did you two see?”

“I wasn’t really paying attention at the time.” Rarity confessed.

“I…” Twilight hesitated and looked at me. “I’m not too sure what I saw. I guess it kind of looked like she was pushing her, but she could have just been putting her arms out to get her balance.”

The cop turned to me after writing that all down in his book. “Ms. Shimmer, there are three accounts of people who claim you may have pushed the waitress. Would you like to explain?”

“I didn’t push the waitress.” I said, my throat feeling raw.

The look on the police man’s face told me that I wasn’t being very convincing. “Ms. Shimmer it’s illegal to lie to the authorities. I suggest you explain what they saw.”

I swallowed hard and looked down at the floor. I felt like I was going to be sick. It would take me months to pay off this fine, but it would be even worse if the truth came out. “I-”

“She didn’t push the waitress, she pushed me.” Pinkie said cutting me off. “She probably fell into the waitress after that.”

“What reason would Ms. Shimmer have to push you?” The cop asked, putting his pen back in his mouth.

“Because I wanted to ruin their date.” Pinkie turned to me with a look of pain, “I’m so sorry Sunset, but I can’t let you take the blame for all of this, they have to know the truth.” I looked at her in horror, no Pinkie no… please don’t tell them! Twilight shouldn’t find out like this! I couldn’t speak, my voice was caught in my throat.

“Pinkie,” Twilight asked. “Why were you trying to ruin our date?”

Pinkie looked at the ground, “Because it made Sunset really upset that you were going on a date with Flash, and I didn’t want her to be sad anymore.” She whimpered, and I realized that she had begun to cry. “And now I’ve made everything worse, because you’re finding out about all of this from me instead of her in front of a police man!” She bawled, and Fluttershy hugged her attempting to comfort her.

My friends hung their heads and looked away, all expect for Twilight who was staring straight at me. “Sunset, why did my dating Flash upset you?”

I felt the tears forming in my eyes, and I did my best to keep them from coming. “Because I…” I swallowed hard to keep my voice from shaking. Come on Sunset keep it together! “Because… I love you.”

I saw her eyes widen, and before she could say anything I shouted, “I need to use the bathroom!” and ran out of the office, tears streaming down my face. Luckily the police man didn’t stop me.

I made it to the bathroom and locked myself in the handicap stall. The tears wouldn’t stop coming.

I looked at myself in the mirror and wiped my eyes. I looked absolutely terrible, my eye makeup had run all over my face, and my hair and dress were both littered with various kinds of food. I sat down against the wall facing the door, hugging my knees, and letting myself cry.

I heard the bathroom door open and I groaned. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone came to check up me.

“Sunset?” It was Twilights voice, I heard her shoes click on the tile floor as she walked up to my stall. “Please let me in.”

I sniffled, “Please leave me alone.”

“I just want to talk.” She answered, “Please talk to me about this.”

I sobbed, “I don’t think there’s much more for me to say.”

“Okay,” She said. “If you don’t want to talk then I will. I need you to know that I love you too.”

My eyes widened and my breath hitched, “Y-you what?!”

“I love you too, it just took me longer to realize it. I like Flash but, my feelings for you are much stronger.” For a while the room was silent as I took in what had just happened. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I had no idea that Twilight felt the same way!

Finally I got up and opened the door to let Twilight in. I was met by her embrace, and she let me cry into her shoulder. They were tears of sadness for the trouble we’d gotten in, but also tears of gratitude that my feelings for Twilight were returned by her. She rubbed my back, and held me until I calmed down. She then took my face in her hands and wiped the rest of the tears from my eyes. My heart pounded from such a gentle touch, and from our faces being so close together. I stared into her eyes and they stared right back into mine. I felt as though I would melt under her gaze.

Our lips met, and I felt my heart burst into fireworks. In that moment, I think I was the happiest person in the world. Twilight broke the kiss and I gazed into her eyes wanting more. She smiled, “Why not we save the rest for another day? This time I want to go on a date with you.”

I smiled and nodded. “Okay.”

We walked back to the office hand in hand, though I was still a little embarrassed to look anyone in the eyes.

Since the police man now knew the whole story he met with the other officer to tell him what happened and finish discussing what would be done with the manager. It was decided that since my knocking into the waitress was accidental, that Blueblood’s father would have to pay the restaurant back.

I gotta say I was pretty relieved that I wouldn’t be the one to pay it. After all I have to pay for my apartment myself, and I’m pretty sure a rich family like his could spare the money.

“I can’t believe this!” Blueblood shrieked. “My father will be in contact with you soon, and he’ll get all of you fired!” He told the police. They both just rolled their eyes and laughed at him.

“As for you Rarity, I never want to see you or any of your friends again for as long as I live.”

Rarity just scoffed, “I couldn’t agree more.”

Blueblood pulled out his phone and stormed off, likely calling his dad.

I felt Flash staring at me and I shrunk under his gaze. “So you like Twilight too huh?”

“Um, yeah.” I said looking at the ground.

“Well I can’t say I blame you, she is pretty amazing. I guess this explains a lot. I’m sorry for acting like kind of a jerk earlier.”

I looked up at him in surprise. “Uh thanks. I’m sorry for… for all of this.”

“No hard feelings.” He said with a smile.

We all started to walk out of the building, and I noticed Pinkie Pie sulking.

“Pinkie,” I started, “I’m not mad at you, if that’s what you’re thinking.”

She sniffled, “You’re not?”

“Of course not. I know that you were just looking out for me, you didn’t mean for all of this to happen.”

She pulled me into a hug. “Thank you Sunset, I’m so glad.”

“So Twilight um, do you want to try this again another time?” Flash asked looking at her nervously.

She blushed and looked at the floor. “I’m sorry Flash but, no. You’re a really nice guy, but I’ve already promised a date to someone else.”

They both to look at me. I blushed and looked away. “I understand.” He said with a sigh, “Have a good date you two.”

“Thanks for understanding Flash, I’m really sorry.”

“It’s fine as long as we can still hang out as friends.” He said with a smile. Twilight smiled. “Of course, that would be great.”

We all went back to Rarity's house to get cleaned up. The other girls had already gotten permission from their parents to stay the night. “Alright girls, when you finish changing please give me your dresses and I’ll put them in the laundry room. I’m not sure that I’ll be able to get the stains out of all of them, but it’s worth a try.” Rarity announced.

“Also be sure to shower, and use as much soap and shampoo as you need. I know for certain that I’ll need a bit of time to get all of this cheese out of my hair.” She added.

“Twilight, you can have the first shower if you’d like since you are the guest.” Rarity offered.

“We could just let the two lovebirds shower together. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.” Rainbow smirked. I felt myself redden and I punched her in the arm. She just cackled evilly.

“I’ll just uh, take my shower now.” Twilight said, and hurried off. I noticed she too had been blushing.

“Now now Rainbow, it’s not polite to tease.” Rarity grinned. “However I apologize Sunset, for this is only the beginning.” Well I guess they wouldn’t really be my friends if they didn’t tease me.

“Ya know, I think that this night turned out okay after all. Sure there was the food fight and the police thing, but we actually got Twilight and Sunset together!” Applejack laughed and started to sit down in a pristine white couch chair.

Rarity pushed her back up, “No using the furniture until you’re clean!”

“You mean we can’t sit down until we’re clean? That ain’t fair when there’s only one shower!” Applejack complained.

“Maybe we should have let them shower together if it meant we could sit down sooner!” Rainbow groaned.

Rarity sighed, “Hold on one minute and I’ll get us something to sit on.”

She returned to the room with a tarp and laid it on the floor. “There, now you may sit.”

“So Sunset,” Rainbow started as well all sat down. “I’m guessing your talk with Twilight went pretty well?”

I blushed, “Um, yeah. I guess you could say that.”

“Come on darling, surely you can tell us a bit more than that!”

“W-well she told me that she feels the same way and that she just hadn’t realized it before…” I looked down feeling embarrassed.

“That’s it? You’re telling me you guys didn’t kiss?! How lame!”

“R-Rainbow shut up!” I must have been as red as my hair at this point.

“I don’t know Rainbow, I don’t think she’d be this red if they hadn’t kissed!” Applejack chuckled.

“Ugh!” I buried my face in my hands.

“Aw calm down, we’re just teasing.” Rainbow said putting a hand on my shoulder.

“We really are quite happy for you dear.” Rarity insisted.

“I appreciate it, but can we talk about something else? It’s been a crazy night.” I sighed.

“Why not we play a board game? Candy Land is my favorite!” Pinkie exclaimed.

“I’ll check to see what games we have.” Rarity said, and left the room.

The night ended in fun, and we continued playing Candy Land until all of us had the chance to wash up. Pinkie Pie was the first to fall asleep, she nodded off in the middle of the game, and none of us had the heart to wake her. As for myself, I’m pretty sure I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I woke to the sound of laughter. “Hey look at the lovebirds!”

“Aw they’re so cute!”

“Quiet down dears. We shouldn't ruin a moment like this.”

I tried to get up, only to feel someone’s arms around me, and when I opened my eyes I discovered that Twilight and I were snuggled close together. I wished that I had noticed this before the girls did, because I really didn’t want to leave this embrace. Twilight began to stir, likely awoken by the noise as well. She grew red when she noticed how close we were. The hug broke immediately to my disappointment.

“Good morning! I’m assuming you both slept well.” Pinkie exclaimed. “What do you girls want to do today?”

Twilight frowned, “Actually, I think it’s about time I get back. I’m sorry I can’t spend more time with you all, but I told my friends back home we’d have some fun today because I was missing their Hearts and Hooves Day party.”

Rarity gave a sad smile, “That’s alright darling, I actually have a bit of homework to do before school tomorrow anyway. Though it is rather saddening that our time together has been so short.”

Twilight nodded, “I’ll be sure to visit more frequently. Thanks for understanding.”

All of my friends escorted Twilight from the parking lot to the front of the building, and Twilight and I stayed at the back of the group.
“I wish you could stay.” I sighed.

“I know,” She replied “But you all have responsibilities with your schooling here, and I have responsibilities back in Equestria as well.”

“I want to go back to Equestria too.” I sighed. “It would be really nice to be home again, and then we wouldn’t have to be apart.”

She took my hand. “Don’t worry, we’ll see each other again soon. Next Saturday, I was hoping you’d show me around this world some more. I haven’t seen much more than this school, and I’m sure there’s so much more for me to learn.” I smiled. “Okay, that sounds like fun.”

We reached the statue all too soon, and Twilight made sure to give everyone a hug goodbye.

“I’m going to miss you.” I whispered as she gave me one last hug.

I felt her lips brush my cheek, and I blushed. “I’m going to miss you too.” We parted, and she waved to us as she walked to the portal. “I’ll see you all again soon, I promise.”

My heart ached as she disappeared through the portal. She hadn’t been gone for more than a few seconds and I already missed her! I knew that I would be counting the days down until she returned, and I would definitely make plans for our day out together. Though it was hard to say goodbye to Twilight, I was glad that it wasn’t goodbye. She would be coming back soon, and I couldn’t be happier.
