When the gold light left our vision, we stood in a lazy Canterlot... no seriously, Luna was playing guard chess with Cadence. Those who weren't lazing around sharpened their spears and knives with one of those old grinding wheels.
Celestia stood next to her sister, "Luna! Are you not aware of the threat-"
"Oh, sister. Have a seat, we have about a week before the invasion gets here," she said, patting the seat next to her.
Tails landed his plane, "Sonic, there's some weird cow-shaped robots with blue eyes in the sky."
"Cow bots?! They're invading with cow bots? I though this was an invasion with the original Robotnik behind it!" I swug my arms over my head then back down with my palms out, "It cant be this easy! Where's the fear, blood, and scrap metal fields that come from his usual invasions!"
Damn it, Hard Boiled! I looked back at my impatient uncle. Don't say it. Don't say it. By all that rings, DON'T SAY IT!!!
"Snively!" For the record I didn't scream. I can actually gave him a peace of my mind!
"eeeAAAAhhh! Y- yes, sir?" I said 'a peace of my mind'. My thoughts are staying in my head out of trouble.
"What. Is. Taking. So. Long?" He asked in a surprisingly nicer tone... followed by a black aura slowly gripping my lungs.
"Hard Boiled said they were dangerous!" I tried to keep my breath to talk, "He never said anything about slow!!!" He dropped me from his grip and sat on the edge of his seat.
"Release my little ponies."
"Aye, sir..."
From my right next to Luna, Celestia asked to the lunar princess to her left, "Sister?"
"hmm?"
"Shouldn't you raise the moon?"
"Oh, yes indeed, Tia." It was amazing watching the moon and sun rise and lower in sync by their power. I got up, walking towards my team as they practiced their swings, punches, kicks, etc. on logs and mannequins.
Over at the edge of the castle, not quite near the gates, Manic and Sonia happily angered some nearby nobles with the song of our people... so to speak.
Heck, even Blue Blood was trying to quiet their little tune... then it began.
"Wake up, sir!" I shook my uncle as he woke, sending me to the nearest wall with his magic.
"What is it, Snively?" He said, obviously awoke from having one of his rare "great" dreams.
"The invasion is starting, uncle!" He dropped me to my feet as he turned on every monitor bots, to survey Canterlot as a mass of robot cows and ponies flew and drove to their destination. Corn downed pegasi guards with their mootonium explosion. Damn it Hard Boiled. Discovering a highly explosive material only to give a pun name.
Unicorns both flesh and bot never stood a chance...
"Fall back! Fall back!" Luna ordered as the flying robots decimated their armies from the air, leaving ground forces weak. Those guards that flew were either grounded by ground troops sniping them or air troops distracting them long enough for a green corn to cripple their wings.
With the pegasi falling, unicorns and those with telekinetic abilities had to catch them. It got so serious, the princesses had to don their armor. Celestia wielded a hammer of vast power as Luna held twin katanas in her magic. Cadence and Shining wore matching armor with different color configurations, his was gold, white, and blue while Cadenza's was two one pink with gold details. Shining had two spears locked on his sides while his wife had two spiked, metal shields with hearts on them and blades on her wings.
I on the other hand, disabled the roboticized ponies and used their flying to my advantage. Like a knight on his forced flying trusty steed, I slashed at the nonpony robots with a satisfying squeal and explosion. Just as I was bumped by a falling Falco robot, my pony started talking. "W- what is going on?! Why is there a sword in my neck?!" So he is still in there. Time for some experiments.
"Sir, do you have control of yourself now?" I asked.
"N-no! Why cant I feel pain?" he replied in his metallic, gruff voice.
"All will be explained. For now, trust me," I gave him a thumbs up, "my name is Sonic the Hedgehog, savior of Equestria!"
We dived towards Silver, who nearly dropped an orange guy with blue hair that seems familiar. "Sonic, don't do that!"
I got off my pony, letting him lay limp on the ground. "Um... I'll be here?" He commented dryly.
I turned to my future friend, "Where's Tails and the princesses?"
"Tails is over there," he pointed to the jet with the massive fists, "What's the plan?"
"If the princesses stop destroying robot ponies and I grab Tails's chaos emerald," I held mine out, the close proximity of the emerald brought the robot I rode back to his hooves with free will, "using chaos control together with some awesome music, we might have a new robot guard!"
Robot pony trotted up to me, "My name is Made Steel, more literal now then ever. Lead me Mr. Hedgehog." I got on his back and flew towards the Tornado X, despite the Falcos carrying Egg Pawns with a better punch than the last few. Some actually carried Egg Pawns with machine guns rather than pistols, dedicated to stopping my mission.
When we landed (Tails had no power for his jet to fly), I found Silver and gave him the blue emerald as we crossed our arms. They we both shouted in sync, "Chaos Control!"
As the wave passed, Manic and Sonia played an appropriate song for the situation at hand. As a large wave of purple energy passed the pony robots, Made Steel directed the new militia to fight back their metal enemies.
Lasers from horns and eyes shot at robots that responded with guns and corn. The fit guards on Celestia's command joined their robotic ponies in their fight. It was epic. Me and Sir Lancelot bounced off ponies, decapitating Falcos and Egg Pawns resulting in explosions. Luna shredded the Cowbots, while containing the mootonium.
Silver tossed fallen robot parts at ground troops while forcing some parts into make-shift swords he used to cut robots into more sword material. He grabbed two machine guns and started firing at Falcos so they would drop their loads, leading up to the orange pawns imploding in range of Silver.
Rainbow Dash flew through the air, lancing some bots when she let out a battle cry, "Friendship is magic!!" She took out the nearest robots in a spearheaded sonic rainboom, causing the biggest metal mass on a stick you would ever see. A few shots from the pawns almost reached her wings, one lucky enough to singe a single feather. She dropped the spear, grabbing one from a ground guard.
Cadence tossed her shields, bouncing off robots as Shining spun and diced robots as they fell. Cadence flew past some Falcos, her wings brushing the robots as her wing-knives dug deep into the steel. She was about to be shot in the flank when Apple Jack bucked pawn heads at the mechs, sending them off guards for the princess to smash their face with a shield. When she turned her head, instead of an orange pony she was greeted by a cyborg rabbit being released from her time prison, standing next to the Apple with a robot head in her grasp.
"Howdy, ah see ya'll have a robot problem?" The rabbit asked, jumping to the air, "Mah names Bunnie D'Coolette."
Apple Jack held the newcomer in her rope, "Hold on, sugarcube! Before ya smash heads, I reckon the metal-ponies are on our side."
"Got it," she flew off with her thrusters, blasting robots out of the air faster than anyone and protecting nearby ponies with her pink bubble shields. She pinned a robot so she could use its gun and destroy it, firing at more bots with amazing accuracy. She dropped the gun, grabbing her lasso she caught and started swinging one of Silver's swords at robots in her area. "Sugah, ya'll better give me a challenge!"
"Send the boss." Uncle's cold voice said. That voice could freeze beer.
"Yes, sir."
Tails flew me to an old friend we haven't seen in years. I was the first to speak, "Bunnie? When did you get here?"
"Hon, Ah was just mining my own business when a huge wave of light hit mah uncle's camp. Now Ah'm here in the middle of a little scruff with mah limbs back in their previous robot form." She flew over, punching a Cowbot towards Luna, who compressed the cow, and flew back, "To be honest, Ah think Ah might be dead and these limbs represent mah sin chains."
"Nope. Time travel," I said as Tails tossed me at a Falco, resulting in a chain spin-swipe at some enemies as I homed in, "I'm also from a far future... In a different dimention from your standpoint."
"That explains the sword an' magic talking ponies, Sugah-hog." Her robot arm became an energy canon as she shot the remaining foes.
Everyone regrouped as Pinkie hopped out of the medical bay with a party in mind, though her tail mentioned otherwise. Bunnie blocked a huge drill with her shield, but couldn't stop the wave of ice that disabled her legs and placed a layer of frost on the ground. In the sky, the source of the attack made itself known.
"Egg Dragoon? Again?" Sonic commented as Tails and Silver prepped the Tornado X for battle.
Inside, Dr. Eggman's voice could be heard over a load speaker, "Alicorn Amulet Egg Dragoon. This is a magic boss~!" The drill pointed at a small black unicorn head amulet with a red gem in it, "Only I can take it off!"
Apple Jack placed Bunnie on her back as she galloped, letting Bunnie fire at the boss with her arm canon and deflect attacks. Tails and Celestia flew at Egg Dragoon striking it with a mech fist and hammer respectively as it countered with a counter spell, making the two suffer with chain lightning striking them, despite the clear skies.
Sir Lancelot and Princess Luna were a little luckier as they redirected the lasers back at Dragoon, but were no match for the drill. Jet redirected the drill, opening up the chance to attack that Sonic and Silver took advantage of. Silver launched his make-shift swords and Sonic at the Egg Dragoon, Sonic with Caliburn in hand stuck himself in the boss's ice wave section in which he left Caliburn and homed on the middle head, grabbing his sword on the way down. "Sire, he's healing himself!" The Dragoon engulfed itself in a red aura as the swords left it.
"Drill! Drill! Drill!" Three yellow spiked drills with yellow eyes were launched in a blue aura towards Egg Dragoon. One had long rabbit ears behind it, another defied physics as it held a small yellow canon in its puffy yellow mane, and the last gave off a rainbow trail behind it. From the garden, a swarm of Yellow Wisps gave ponies and my team their power. They flew up to me, transforming me. From below Jet, Silver, Luna, and Shining Armor tossed the Yellow Drills at Dragoon in rapid succession.
The robot unicorns lent their magic to the cause as robot earth ponies took out hidden rocket launchers, firing at the Dragoon.
Mentioned boss, dodged shot fired, countered and deflected drills, and let out a spiral of lasers that singed the ground and castle walls. He used his drill shot a few times only to have it sent back. He charged his current drill, sending it in a huge wave of magic that short circuited a few robots and weaken the guard.
I popped out of my drill form, caught by Jet. In my scarf, the red world ring started glowing. What? I can handle its influence unlike the other me! Jet lowered me on the ground as Celestia broke the curse on herself, following Sonic. She noticed that he was looking for something and flew up to him.
"Ah, princess! Do you recognize this?" Sonic carefully showed her the ring.
In a shocked expression with a surprised tone, "There's another one?!"
"What colors do you have and where are they?"
"A green ring brought envy and the purple one that started Luna's change into Nightmare Moon. If you want to get rid of that ring, feel free." She then stopped him with a hoof, "This is a bad time to be entering the vault."
"No. This is a great time," I replied, "I need those rings."
