//------------------------------// // Friendship is Sadness // Story: Friendship is Sadness // by Crystal sky //------------------------------// Dear Princess Celestia, Why do I feel like this? It's been years since the other Elements passed on...why do I still feel like they died yesterday? First Rarity, then Rainbow Dash, then Fluttershy and Pinkie one day apart from each other, then Applejack. Big Mac hasn't come out of his room since AJ died....we fear the worst. Nothing seems the same. Then there's me, who has lived through all the odds and still looks as young as I was when the elements were alive. You might think it is from good health, or I go get a severe makeover every other week, but that isn't it. It's actually a secret that I now choose to reveal. When I was in the Starswirl the Bearded Wing when I was trying to save Ponyville from an unexsistent evil, I found... A immortality spell. I took it then. I had no idea why or what I would need it for, but it...called for me. One night, I was trying to see if it worked or not, and when my horn glowed, it dissipated in five seconds. I thought absolutely nothing happened when that occured, so I just carried on with life as usual. It was only when Rarity, while on her deathbed, pointed out to me that I stilled looked as young as when we first met, that I realized that the spell HAD worked...but on me. I knew how to break the spell, but I knew that if I did, I would age rapidly and then possibly die soon after. Something inside of me was screaming at me to 'not break the spell, so that you could say goodbye to your friends.'I-I don't know why, but I listened to it! I saw each of them pass and told them that they would always be my friend. While I sobbed as they passed, they smiled. THAT'S what hurt me the most. Them smiling. There last words were always either 'You still look so young', or 'I will always remember you, even in death.' I now realize what I need to do. I realize now how I can be happy with how my life is now. I need to break the spell. Princess, I love you as if you were my mother. But I need to see my friends again. In the afterlife, hand in hand with death. I will never be happy if I don't break the spell. That spell was a dark path I chose to take a long time ago, but I now plan to change my path. I need this princess. Eternal happiness is what I'll gain. Forever your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle ~*~*~*~*~* Princess Celestia cried deeply as she read her student's last letter to her. Her student had kept her immortality to herself for over 40 years before she broke the spell. It was a very heart wrenching realization, but the Princess knew it wasn't her student's fault. Ten years had passed since Twilight had sent this letter to her, and Princess Celestia knew that it was time for it to go in it's rightful place. Celestia carefully rolled the letter up and put a ribbon across it, tying it so the letter wouldn't unfold. She then used a teleportation spell to take her to a rather drab location. The clouds and the ground were both a dreary shade of grey. No colors seemed to reach it, save from huge rainbow colored crystals shooting from the ground. In front her was a gigantic crystal encasing, but through it there were six clearly visible gravestones. A sign that hung from an overlaying crystal read: HERE LIES THE ELEMENTS OF HARMONY The princess ducked down into the crystal casing, bringing with her fresh tears as she saw her student's grave in the middle. She set down the letter gently. "You will always be my faithful student, Twilight Sparkle." she whispered to the grave quietly. She stared at the other graves. "And you were all wonderful ponies. It is truly a shame that I never got to know you better." Princess then sang an old pony song for ponies who passed on, with an extra tweak. Here lies six ponies, who were so unique, They had lived life to the fullest, but finally met their peak, These ponies were loved by everyone in Equestria It is just a shame that their lives were fun but now their lives are gone. Celestia wept sadly as she used her magic to produce another letter using magic. This one was written on pure white parchment, and had been tied with a yellow bow. She placed the other letter onto Twilight's grave, then used another spell to produce the Elements of Harmony. "These deserve to be with you in death." Princess Celestia said sadly as she placed them onto the correct graves. She sobbed as she looked at them on top of their graves, remembering what the Elements were. Generosity Loyalty Honesty Kindness Laughter Magic, her faithful student's Element. The Princess sobbed for one last time, then left the Elements, and her student's, graves.
