Jet flipped throught the pages of the Thaumonicon. He located one item that he wanted. It was a grandfather clock, but infused with items that make it able to control the sun and the moon, or day and night.
He placed his wand next to the crafting ingredient. The crafting took shards, vis, clocks, glass, wood, fire(in the form of a candle), and a star. He got the star by asking Luna for it. He got a really small star, which glowed and could make its own energy. After the crafting completed, he took the grandfather clock and placed it inside a closet where he kept his private items in.
He stored his eggs, cloths, and other supplies in there for a neater home. He didn't care if his home was clean or not though. He was prepared for the later things in thaumoturgy. He looked at the sun, slightly past noon, and flipped the dials on the clock. It made a cranking noise and the sun was now a sunset.
"Success." Jet said to himself like the narrator from smash bros melee.
The sun moved back to the same spot before. This suprised Jet but he flipped the dials once more on the clock. He taped the dial to midnight. He then noticed the moon starting to shake a bit in the sky.
Must be Luna or Celestia trying to fix the time. Ooo well, I guess they'll learn to live with eternal night for this side of the planet. Jet thought as he walked to into Ponyville. No one was outside except for a few astronomer ponies. Twilight was outside as well with a telescope.
"Enjoying my night?" Jet asked her as she turned her head.
"Your night?" Twilight resumed looking into the telescope.
"Yah, I was doing thaumoturgy and was testing the Grandfather Clock."
She turned her head in anger. "You made a bad mistake! Do you realize what you have done? This can cause problems all over Equestria! The last time eternal night happened was when Nightmare Moon broke free from her banishment! There could even be problems for the princesses."
Jet only nodded then said, "Wanna tell the princesses then what happened and be a tattle tale? Or not say anything and let me fix this with no questions asked?"
"I think you must tell them what's going on."
Jet picked up Twilight and then said, "Well then, I guess your coming with me."
"Fine." Twilight and Jet went over to the train station and boarded it.
"It's dark outside, must be night time." Jet said to Twilight who only facepalmed.
After a discussion on the times of day and night. They both reached Canterlot with a small riot of ponies p when compared to humans rioting.
"Pincess Sparkle, thank goodness you're here. May you go talk to the princesses? They don't listen to us." One pony said.
"Will do." Twilight said and rushed to the front of the crowd. The door was guarded by guards. They stepped to the side to let both of them in.
"Hello Jet. Hey Twilight." Luna said as they both met them upstairs on the balcony. Celestia was concentrating on a spell to move the sun.
"Enjoying the night?" Jet asked as Twilight went over to Celestia.
"Yes actually. I find it so beautiful. Are you?"
"Of course. I wonder who made it last longer than normal?" Jet said the last part sarcasticly. Luna noticed this and smiled thankfully.
"You're doing this?" Celestia stopped the magic on her horn and asked Jet.
"Maybe...not." Jet gave a nervous smile.
"Since your doing it, you must stop it. Now!" Celestia gave a stern look. Jet was unaffected by it.
"Why can't you?" Jet said.
"I'm not strong enough."
"You're not strong enough to move taped?"
"What do you mean?
"The dial on the clock moves according to the sun. By turning the dial the sun moves. When you move the sun, the dial moves. If I tape the dial to a still, it will stay at the same time."
"I see. Well in that case, where is the clock?" Celestia looked worried when she said this.
"What's wrong with the night?" Jet and Luna said at the same time.
"It caused chaos with the pony folk. They might think Nightmare Moon returned." Celestia said. Twilight was now standing besides her.
"Who the fuck is Nightmare Moon. Sounds fake and gay." Everyone flinched.
Celestia gave a sign. Then said, "Nightmare Moon is an evil being who purged Equestria into the night. I banished her to the moon for 1000 years and she returned still evil. However the elements of harmony, controlled by Twilight and her friends, reformed her back into my sister, Luna." Jet stared at Luna in a way that made her giggle.
"Cool story bro." Jet said casually.
"It's a true story! Don't mock it." Twilight scouled.
"You doods don't know anything about astronomy, don't you? Due to your planet being round, there is a day on the other freakin side. If Nightmare Moon were to cause night everywhere, she or he would have to block out the sun. Either by destroying it of placing a large night-looking sheet of paper all around the planet." Jet said.
Everyone's jaw dropped and Jet walked to the edge of the balcony with both hands on the rail. He noticed all the ponies scared, angry, and sad. He also took note of the moons light. It was extremely bright compared to the moonlight earth gets.
"Bruh. The moon light Equestria gets is around 10 times the amount my homeworld. You lucky pricks. Plus the moonlight is just the same light the sun makes, only reflected."
Luna was stunned, Celestia couldn't even talk. Twilights face blowed up. 30 seconds past before Luna spoke up.
"I see. Why doesn't the night scare you? What make you like it?" Luna asked.
"I find the night beautiful. There are stars visible and you can actually see the source of the light. The sun can't be directly looked at or a human goes blind. I also like to stay up long, and sleep in till around lunch time so the night is pretty much on the whole time I'm awake."
"I find the night soothing. Indeed it is beautiful and a lot nicer than the day. I just don't understand why others don't like it."
There was a small chat between Celestia and Twilight.
"To be honest, this isn't my favorite night." Jet said. Luna looked shocked.
"What do you mean, not your favorite night? It's the only thing you have to a night." Luna defended.
"My favorite nights are the ones with the bloodmoon." If Luna was going to get shocked even more, she might get a heart attack.
"What's a bloodmoon?"
"It's a moon that calls upon the dead. Bringing back them for one night only. No one can die during these times. If the night were to last forever under the bloodmoons light, it creates its own, then no one would die. Granted it makes everything turn a dim red and it's hard to see due to the dark, but it's a good trade off."
"That's amazing."
"Anyway, do you want to spend the rest of this night together? We could change it to day after we are done." Luna only nodded and they both flu off the balcony.
Six hours of being together they landed at Jet's house. He opened the closet and removed the tape. The dial quickly spun making the moon fall and the sun rise, to a sun set.
"Ha, the actual time is near sunset. That means more night to be had." Jet said and glanced at Luna. She was smiling. It had been years since she had this type of appreciation for her night.
"Thank you Jet, for liking me and liking my night?" Jet smiled back.
