Chapter 15: Dragon Quest
"Hurry up lets go!"
"I'm coming, i'm coming."
"I'll be right there."
Twilight was very looking forward to the dragon migration. We where on our way as Twilight was stopped by Rainbow saying that Fluttershy wouldn't come out. We just walked over to her cottage and tried to persuade her as she hid behind me.
"Cmon Fluttershy. You made me watch that boring butterfly migration."
"I did..."
"Fluttershy, the dragon migration only happens so often. Night Wing-"
"Don't drag me into this. You are the ones who want to get her to see it. I can't really care."
"You are going to help us. She has to see this event!"
"Why?"
"It's a rare and special event that only happens so often!"
"You already said that."
"Well we have to get even. She made me go with her to the butterfly migration!"
"Anything else?"
They just looked at each other. That was literally all they had as a reason for Fluttershy to go. That was actually kind of surprising. Especially from Twilight. Knowing her, I expected her to have at least good reasons.
"I will go..."
"What?"
"I will go..."
"That's great!"
"That's the spirit Fluttershy."
"...Under one condition..."
"Condition?"
"Name it."
"Um...Night Wing?"
"I specifically said not to drag me into this."
"Just one question and I will go."
"Answer it Night Wing."
"And what question might that be?"
"Does anything bad happen at the migration?"
"That's easy, just tell her."
"You want me to give you knowledge of your own future even if it goes against time travel rules?"
"Well... if its-"
"Then there is a good thing I make the rules because right now I don't really give a fuck. The migration goes good. No one is harmed in the slightest. Well except for Rainbow over there who gets cocky about being close to dragons and gets to close to the dragons fiery breath."
"See Fluttershy. Nothing will-wait what?"
"Well if nothing bad happens I guess I will go."
"Good, lets go, we don't want to be late."
"Okay lets go then."
We walked up to where the stake out would be happening. They made a big ditch in the earth. Rainbow kept asking what I had said about her being cocky. I didn't say shit. She kept asking until she realized it was useless and stopped.
We waited and watched the dragons come. Rainbow stayed in the ditch and decided it best not to get out. And she got saved a bad hair day. Burned hair that is. Spike came. Rarity treated him like a child. Spike noticed this and left. I just saw it all happen. I brought Twi to the side and spoke to her in private.
"Twilight, i'll be right back. I have to check on something."
"What? Oh. Okay. Whatever it is be careful."
She just kissed me and let me leave. She knew what usually happened when I said that. She knew it would be best to not ask. I left and went to go get Spike.
"Sup Spike."
"Oh, hey Night Wing."
"So what are you thinking about. You stormed out back there."
"They just treat my like i'm a child!"
"You technically are one."
"Yeah but they just overdo it."
"Can't argue there. What are you going to do about it?"
"I need to learn more about dragons."
"Meaning?"
"I am going to join the dragon migration."
"Okay. Now just have to tell Twi and the others."
"Can you come with me? In case something goes wrong?"
"Fuck it. Lets tell the girls our plan."
We left toward the library and met up with the girls. Spike told them our plan. They where not that excited. They tried to reason with him but the logic was on Spike's side. They argued back and forth as I tried to zone out. Then something poked my arm. I opened my eyes and saw Twilight.
"Yes?"
"We where asking you something."
"I was bored and zoned out. What was it?"
"We where asking how you would get in with Spike. Dragons wont take lightly a non dragon creature."
"All of you, come with me outside. I can't answer this in here."
They just gave me a puzzled look but did as tolled. I went outside and waited for everyone to come out. With that I was ready to answer.
"Spike come here."
"Okay."
"Now hold still."
I put my left hand thumb on his fore head and my right hand thumb on his heart. This was my first time trying this without the nano band, but I had a feeling this would work. They just stared as I slowly transformed into a dragon. They just stared in awe as I transformed.
"Do you think this is convincing enough?"
I grew a fuck ton more. They just stared at me. I am just glad that the transformation actually worked. I was kind of doubtful at first.
"I do think that is convincing enough."
"It can still be dangerous."
"I got this shit Twi. Just trust me."
We talked for a while as they finally gave up in making Spike and I stay. We began to walk toward the place the migration was headed. We walked and I turned around. I saw Twilight and the others following. When they saw me looking at them they scattered and hid in the bushes. The pattern repeated about fifteen times before we made it to the dragons migration place.
We got there as Spike looked for other young dragons. He met with teenage dragons and tried to work his way into their little group. I had to provide assistance going by the dragon name of Hank. I helped him out and stood up for him here and there. Aside from that I just sat back and relaxed. I was sitting and relaxing until I heard a roar. I opened my eyes to see the girls in a group with Spike standing between them and the other dragons.
"And here I thought I could just sit down and relax."
I got up and went to help Spike. I walked over there. The other teenage dragons watched me get closer and began to tell me that he was a dragon among ponies.
"You are either with them or us!"
"You can do something, right Ni-Hank?"
"He doesn't even know about his own kind!"
This was getting tiring. I stood in the middle of them and turned back to human. The dragons looked in shock as I turned into my original form.
"What are you!?"
"I'm but a human. Now, we will leave and you wont do anything."
"Nice try. You think a creature like you so small could stop us?"
"Please tell me you have a plan."
"We are leaving."
The argument kept going and going. I am getting tired of this bull shit. I took out one of my two swords and turned it into a shot gun. I fired in the air, catching the attention of the dragons.
"We are leaving, you follow us and I will use this on you."
"You think that little thing could harm us?"
"I am a strange and dangerous creature that you have never seen with a strange and dangerous weapon you have never seen. Do you want to find out if this will make you bleed? I wouldn't mind."
They just looked at each other and eyed my gun. I cocked it, ready to fire again. They where alarmed and left. Good thing to, since this gun only shot harmony and magic. I don't know, can magic harm a dragon? Anyways. I turned around to face the girls.
"Hang on tight."
I teleported all of us back to the library. They seemed some what disoriented from the long distance mass teleportation spell. I just went inside and lay on the couch. I let them talk to Spike. I heard hoof steps coming. I didn't move though. the pony came and just sat near the couch.
"Interesting day for you?"
"My days are almost always like this. I need a bigger event to call interesting. One I will soon have."
"What?"
"Nothing. Just said today was my definition of normal."
She left to go check on Spike as I just fell asleep on the living room couch. I am sure Twi wont mind me sleeping on the couch.
