//------------------------------// // Bonus #2: Bunnies // Story: Thunder & Lightning // by Jetto //------------------------------// Silver Spoon carefully looked around the classroom. Aside from her, the only ponies left were the heads of all three factions. Scootaloo representing the "Dashers", Snips for "Dusters" and newest addition, Rumble for the "Thunders". His side won the best name contest, bar none. She observed them carefully from behind the door as they absorbed themselves in a heated debate. Somehow she managed to sneak past the three foals, reach Rumbles desk unnoticed and leave her carefully crafted, hoofmade pink, sprinkled with her mom's best perfumes, letter. Now all she had to do was wait until he reads it. Her heart was beating with anticipation with every passing second. It was foalproof plan- she studied all the romance novels from the local library for nights and days for last few weeks. It was going to work. Nothing could possibly go wrong. Nothing could make her... "Silver Spoon?" "MEEEP!" She jumped. Heartbeat was slowly returning to normal levels, as the gray filly held strongly onto the column, about ten feet above the ground level. "Silver Spoon, stop fooling around and get down here. I found something interesting!" Diamond Tiara said. Once Silver Spoon calmed down and got herself down, she went with Diamond Tiara, who opened her backpack and smiled viciously. "What did you find?" She asked, trying to take a peek at whatever it was that interested her friend so much. She sniffed the air. Suddenly shivers went down her spine and eyes shot wide upon realization. Diamond Tiara pulled out the desired object and displayed it to her friend. "Taa-daa!" Silver Spoon screamed loudly, if only mentally. "T-t-tiara, wh-where... h-how...?" "It was on Rumble's desk. I took it while those dorks weren't looking." She proudly admitted to theft. "B-but, th-that's..." a violation of MY privacy, Silver Spoon thought. How Diamond Tiara, the least subtle pony in the entire Equestria, managed to sneak past her as she was watching was another story. "Ewww," Tiara sniffed the letter and pulled it away from her face, gagging "it stinks of cheap perfumes! She'd do better if she didn't use her mothers stinkers!" Silver Spoon withheld her tears. "W-who?" "Dinky, duh! Obviously, that's her letter!" She rolled her eyes, as if this was the most obvious thing in the world. She sniffed again, this time at her backpack. "Ugh, now I need a new backpack!" She lamented, unceremoniously throwing it away in a trash bin. Silver Spoon swallowed. She still didn't found out, which meant that there was a chance to save the situation. She swallowed and donned her best fake smile. "W-whatever. If she want's to, it's her deal. So just put it ba--" RRRRIIIIP! Silver Spoon screamed mentally again, this time a lot louder. "Oh, oops!" Tiara made a distressed impression. "I ACCIDENTALLY opened it!" She took the letter out. "And it ACCIDENTALY slipped." Then opened it. "And I ACCIDENTALLY read it!" Silver Spoon lunged at Diamond Tiara, forced the letter from her hooves, tore it apart and ate the remains. Then Diamond Tiara forgot about last 5 minutes of her life and the two went to get some hayshakes. ...if only. "Dear Rumble," Diamond Tiara started reading aloud, completely oblivious to her friends current paralyzed state "I've been watching you from afar for long time... ugh, what a weirdo! That filly has issues." She shook her head and went back to reading, while Silver Spoon fought the urge to cry, as she couldn't do much else. "I really like your mane... huh, she has a point, but anyway..." she coughed, Silver Spoon's eye twitched "and I admire your physical pro...prow...prowiss? What's a prowiss?" "Prowess." Silver Spoon corrected her, against her own will. "Oh yeah, that. But unlike most colts in our class, you're also smart, nice and kind, ... ugh, I'm gonna puke! I was crushing on you since we first met. I know I'm not the perfect filly, yeah, no duh, but will you be my special somepony? Pfft, where did she get this? Trashy novels from the library?" Silver Spoon sniffed and muttered something. "I know, right? Blank flank romance, sheesh." Diamond Tiara laughed and went back to the letter. "Signed with eternal love, always yours..." Silence. "Uh... uhm..." Diamond Tiara gradually lost her sly smile. She finally looked at Silver Spoon. The gray filly now resembling a dam, barely holding off on the wave during the biggest raining season of the century. She swallowed and looked at the letter again. "Uh... and there's a... a drawing... of two bunnies. They're nuzzling. In a heart. It's actually rather cute... I mean, it's a really, REALLY good drawing..." And then the dam burst. Diamond Tiara recoiled and dropped the letter, a typical reaction when your best friend starts crying like a waterfall. She looked around, hoping that somepony good at calming down foals was around... then hoping nopony was around to see them like that. She tried to find some kind words to calm her friend down. "S-silver, don't cry..." That worked about as well you'd expect. "Uhh, what am I supposed to do now?" She reached her memories back to times whenever she was crying and her parents tried to calm her down. Buying her a dress would take too long (and she didn't have enough bits on her anyway). Neither could she get her new toys. Cupcakes? No. She thought harder, reaching into her deepest, hidden memories, looking for something, anything that could work, as the clock was ticking and tears weren't stopping. It was then that she found what she was looking for. She never did it before, but it worked when she was younger. It was worth a shot. "Ugh, things I do for friends!" She lamented, as she extended her hooves and grabbed Silver Spoon in a tight hug. The gray filly at first recoiled, but didn't struggle and instead used the nearest coat to cry herself out on. Diamond Tiara fought the urge to push her away, with all the tears, snot and whatnot ruining her perfect coat. For friendship, she muttered to herself. A longer while passed (it felt like years), Silver Spoon finally calmed herself down just enough to be able to talk again. "I-I'm s-sorry..." She muttered. "Uh, yeah, no problem." Diamond Tiara answered, patting her head, not quite sure what the apology was for: her coat, having to hug her in public or... "I'm sorry I'm in love with.. with... a blank flank!" Diamond Tiara's eyes opened wide. She gently unhugged her friend and looked at her, eyebrow raised. "I'm so, so sorry!" The gray filly continued. "All the times we were making fun of them and... and I was... I was..." her panic attack was raising, dam was filling up again "I love a blank flank! I can't hide it anymore and I don't care what happens!” She paused, then knelt before Tiara. “Please don't be mad!" "I'm not mad." "I didn't mean it and I tried to not... to not... what?" "Silver Spoon, I'm not mad at you." Silver Spoon blinked. "B-but I'm..." "In love with Rumble, the blank flank, yes, I heard you!" She rolled her eyes. "B-but he's..." "Sil, do you think I'm dumb?" She asked, earning a curious look from her friend. "Do you think I judge ALL ponies by their cutie marks? For all we know, he's probably be the awesome pony ever, aside from me!" Silver Spoon blinked and wiped a tear. "...huh?" "I mean, Ponyville is like, the most boring place ever! Nothing ever happens here (Nightmare Moon doesn't count)! How is an awesome pony like him supposed to get a cutie mark here? What if it's, I dunno, slaying dragons? Or being a fashion model? Or I dunno... something cool! He'll be a blank flank until something like this happens! That doesn't mean he's lame. Heck, I r-... r... I res... ugh..." She held back the gag reflex and forced herself to finish the cursed word. "I respect him! Not like, like him, but more like like respect like him and... ugh, you know what I mean!" Silver Spoon looked at her friend for a while longer, wondering what happened to old Diamond Tiara and wished she didn't change back too soon. She wiped her tears away and smiled. "Thanks, Tiara." "You're welcome. Now come on," she grabbed Silver Spoon and lead her away from school "we got a lot of work to do before Rumble becomes your special somepony." Silver Spoon gladly followed Tiara along the way, until something hit her and she stopped. "W-wait, what do you mean a lot of work?" Diamond Tiara stopped as well and faced Silver Spoon. She sighed heavily and looked her in the eyes. "Sil, I'm your friend. I didn't say a word when you messed my mane and coat and I don't mind it when you take pity on those filthy blank flanks. So hear me out when I tell you this..." she took a breath and announced "you suck at seduction!" Something cracked in the distance. A wall of some kind. A wall called confidence. Inside a gray fillies mind. Diamond Tiara coughed as she started explaining. "First of all, those perfumes are disgusting! Are you trying to poison him? Just use the actual love-poison (I saw it in a movie once)! Two, what's a prowess? I like your mane? Who talks like that? Three, observed you from afar? That's like, a creepy stalkery stuff! Gosh, I hope he didn't see you, I would DIE if my friend was called a stalker! And four, like, stop being all shy and weak around him all the time, Sil!" "B-but..." "No buts! He's playing with fillies like, all the time! If you don't act now, he'll start dating one of Cutie Mark Crusaders!" The fillies shivered at the thought. Such a good colt, wasted on talentless foals. Travesty! Silver Spoon's eyes narrowed. She nodded. "You're right! I need to do something! Diamond Tiara, you need to teach me! Teach me how to make him my special somepony!" Diamond Tiara smiled smug. Naive, controllable and loyal. That was the Silver Spoon she knew and loved. With that said, they left the school ground to begin their scheming. Rumble shivered. Must have been wind. "If Rumble is too awesome to get a cutie mark in Ponyville, does that mean that Cutie Mark Crusaders..." "No, they're a bunch of dweebs!" Silver Spoon hummed and nodded.
