Canterlot: a city rife with the unicorn elite. Of that population, many measure their worth by the connections they wield. They claim fashion designers as their cousins; authors as their mothers; coaches as their friends; and the richest as their confidantes.
Only 1 can claim to be Celestia's beloved sister.
Princess Luna is a shy, weak little creature. Ever since her return from the moon, however, she has found her ability to make friends rapidly increasing through the loving aid of Celestia, her sister, and her closest friends, the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony. Canterlot, nay, all of Equestria, is watching her, waiting to see who she will become.
Meanwhile, in the distance of space, a great mare of darkness lies trapped within the moon. She watches, wracked in torment, as she grapples with her opponent, the Filly of the Stars, Twilight Sparkle. The Night Mare waits and watches as her time draws near. When the year, years, and half a year pass, she will be released from her prison and bend Equestria to her will. Eternal night will cloak the world, and she will be master over all.
If only she can overcome the Filly of the Stars.
But Twilight is not making it easy for her. Angry at the lies she was told, bolstered by her chance of redemption, she stands against the corrupting power of the Night Mare. Yet there are also dark days where Twilight's confidence fades, when her self-esteem attacks itself from within and weakens her defenses. On these days, the Night Mare always swoops in again, eager to gain a foothold. On those days, it is said, the moon glows darker than it normally does.
But in the end, Twilight always pushes back the Night Mare again. There is a constant ebb and flow, like the moon's pull on the tides, that will never end until the two of them are released for their final confrontation. And as the prophecy states, Twilight will need Luna and the Bearers if she wishes to overcome the darkness.
Luna studies on, ready for that day when she will help Twilight defeat her demon, ready to play her critical part.
