//------------------------------// // Bad day // Story: My little bad day // by SweetyBelleluvsu //------------------------------// Sweetie Belle could still hear the voices in her head; she wanted them to go away so badly. “Blank flank, blank flank!” “Stop it! Stop it please!” “Why should we, you’ll never get your cutie-mark!” She kept running with all of her might, hoping- dreaming to get away. Her sister had gotten after her today for tracking mud on the Welcome mat! After that, she spilled Rarity’s tea that she had been working on for over an hour. To top it all off, she was late to school, her friends were not there, and they served her most hated food at lunch. “Why did today have to be so bad?” she wondered to herself, “what did I do wrong? And how could this day get any worse?” Not a second after the thought crossed through her mind, she ran straight into something; it was spike with some grape juice. “Oh, Sweetie,” He cried, “I am so sorry, I should have watched where I was going.” He helped her up and they both made a startling discovering, Sweetie was purple. Her fur had been stained by the grape juice and was turning darker by the minute. “Oh, No!” She cried, “Rarity is going to kill me! First the mud on the welcome mat, then I spilled her tea, and now this?!” “Mud on a welcome mat, isn’t that what they’re for?” “Oh, what am I going to do? Rarity can’t see me like this!” “Come with me, we’ll go to my house.” “Oh, alright, but I better not get seen by anypony!” They headed on their way, when they heard a familiar noise; it was Diamond and Silver. “Oh, no,” Thought Sweetie, “I can’t let them see me like this!!” Sweetie Belle broke into a gallop towards the library, hoping that she would make it there, unseen. She was greatly disappointed when she heard someone shout, “Hey blank-flank! Nice new look! Ha, ha, ha!” Sweetie couldn’t take it anymore, she turned toward Diamond and walked furiously over to her. “SHUT UP!” As soon as she said it, she punched Diamond strait in the gut with all of her might. It felt so good to get her anger out, and at the same time, teach Diamond a lesson. She looked at Diamond and instantly regretted doing it; she was clutching her stomach and gasping for air. “I’m so sorry Diamond!” she apologized, “… I… here let me help you.” She started to help her up when Filthy Rich, Diamond’s ridiculously wealthy father, came up to them. “Diamond, what happened to you?” He exclaimed. “Daddy, Sweetie Belle attacked me!” Diamond accused. “Sweetie, why would you do that?” Mr. Rich asked. Sweetie looked at Mr. Rich and was getting ready to cry. She had no idea what to do. She looked at Diamond and saw that she had a small grin on her face. That did it, she had to tell Diamond off! No, she couldn’t do that, she had to tell the truth. She looked in his face, sighed, and finally told her story. “Mr. Rich, I’m sorry for hitting Diamond, I’ve just had a rough day.” “I understand; Diamond, let’s go” “What! But daddy, she attacked me!” “Not another word, Diamond,” Mr. Rich said sternly, “not another word.” “Yes daddy.” Diamond said begrudgingly, walking off with her father. As Sweetie watched them go, she felt, different. This was a feeling that she didn’t know what to think of it; she felt content, happy, and sick. “Spike, I know that I’ve had a rough day, but that was wrong, wasn’t it?” “Well yes, I know you’ve had a bad day but that’s no excuse. You probably need to go tell Rarity, I can’t help you with this. I don’t think you want my help.” Sweetie was hesitant. She couldn’t tell Rarity; she would kill her! But Sweetie also knew that Rarity would help her with her coat and hopefully understand. “Alright Spike, I’ll go talk to Rarity” She started to walk off when she thought of one more thing. “Thanks Spike.” “For what?” “For just being my friend.” "Hey, no problem, let me walk you to the boutique.” They headed to the boutique and just as Sweetie predicted, Rarity freaked out. “Sweetie Belle!” Rarity exclaimed, “What did you do to your fur?!” “I was an accident, I was running and I bumped into spike: He was carrying grape juice and it spilled all over me.” “Oh, Sweetie Belle! Come with me, let’s get you cleaned up. Oh, Spike!” “Yes?” “Thank you” "Hey, that's no problem at all." Spike left the boutique, Rarity took Sweetie up to the bathroom to try and get her all cleaned up. "Honestly Sweetie, how much grape juice was Spike carrying? You’re positively covered in this stuff!" As Rarity put Sweetie in the tub, the water started to turn purple; she emptied the tub, cleaned it and added more water... it happened again. This went on for three more tries until the water didn't turn purple. Rarity was scrubbing Sweeties mane when she brought up a question about what happened this moring. "Sweetie, I want to apologize if I yelled at you this morning, I've had a rough day. Forgive me?" "Yes, I forgive you but if you think you've had a rough day, you should hear about mine." "Why, it can't be that bad!" "Oh really? First the escapades here this morning, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo weren't at school today, then we had to run though slimy stuff during gym, then Diamond and Silver were teasing me, then I ran into Spike and his grape juice, and to top it all off, I punched Diamond Tiara." "Sweetie Belle!” Rarity exclaimed, “How could you do something like that?!" "She yelled at me in the middle of town, ‘HEY BLANK FLANK! Nice new look!’" "Still, you should have tried to keep it together; besides, I have had just as bad a day." "Oh really? How?" "Well for one thing my big order was canceled, someone stole my new hat, and I found out a secret that I must keep, well… a secret." "YOUR BIG ORDER WAS CANCELED?! THAT WAS 20,000 BITS WORTH OF CLOTH! HOW COULD THEY- secret?" "…Promise you won’t tell?" "Uh, huh!" "Oh alright. I found out that Spike has had a crush on me since he and Twilight moved here." "…You’re Joking.” "Not at all! I can't believe it, how could I not have seen the signs?" "Rarity, he, was wearing a shirt with you on it in the middle of a heart," Sweetie deadpanned. "You must be kidding me! How could I not see it? Oh, I've just had a bad day..." "Aw, Rarity-“ And with that, Sweetie broke out in an impromptu song and dance. “Your day has been rough, and if that's not enough; The day has gone on and on. You don't know what to do, and yes sis it's true; The day so far will be long. I just want to say, that yes, there's a way, To get the day to go your way! Today has been bad, but think of tomorrow, Today has been rough, and the day was just hollow. There is a way to make your day, Just remember your sister and friends, we all still love you. Sure my day has been bad and I don't want it to go on, But even for you, the days bad it's true, The day isn't over, but it can get better for you!" "Sweetie Belle, that was absolutely lovely!” Rarity said excitedly, “Where ever did you learn it?" "I didn't learn it, I just made it up! But, did it make you feel better?" "Yes, it has Sweetie, it has. And I know just will make your day!" "What?" Rarity was pointing at something behind Sweetie and feeling of dread ran over the filly. "Oh boy, another dress to try on...” Sweetie thought sarcastically, “Might as well get it over with.” When Sweetie turned around, she expected to see a mannequin with a frilly dress but there was nothing there, she looked down, and got a huge surprise. "MY CUTIE MARK! I GOT MY CUTIE MARK! Oh Rarity, what, how?" "It must have been your song! I have never heard such beauty in one’s voice! It was simply amazing!" Sweetie blushed; Rarity had never given her such a commented. "But, Rarity, what does it mean?" "Sweetie Belle, I believe it means that you are a very caring mare. You wanted to brighten my day, so you sang to make it happen! Your cutie mark represents caring and singing. It's like a two for one sale at the Canterlot Mall!" Sweetie Belle enjoyed looking at her cutie mark, she then thought of her fellow crusaders. "OH NO! I GOT MY CUTIE MARK WITHOUR APPLE BLOOM OR SCOOTALOO! WHAT AM I GOING TO TELL THEM?!" "Just tell them, 'I got my cutie mark! may I help you find yours?' see if that works." "Alright Rarity, I will." When Sweetie went to school the next day, she felt a sense of dread. She was wearing a cape that Rarity had made for her, they had planned a surprise for the entire school. Today was show and tell and Sweetie knew that there would be a show. But she couldn't stop wondering, what would Diamond say? Would she still find a way to tease her? What would the rest of the crusaders say? All of this roamed though her mind until she found herself at the schoolhouse. She then saw the two fillies, Diamond and Silver. She rushed into the schoolhouse and to her desk. When the bell rang, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo came running through the door. "There she is! Ah told you that she would be in here!" "Yea, yea, hey Sweetie, what's with the cape?" "Um, it's for show and tell." Scootaloo went into a state of panic: "THAT'S TODAY?! I THOUGHT IT WAS TOMORROW, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?" "Ah think you should show then your new scooter. It's better than what ah brought." "What did you bring?" "A pie mah granny made." "THAT'S ALMOST AS AWSOME AS RAINBOW DASH!" Sweetie was silent, a blank expression on her face, ready to stun everypony in the class. After they did some Pre-Algebra it was time for show and tell. Diamond went first. She showed off her tiara. Again… All of all the other foals when, except for Sweetie Belle, she had given a note from Rarity that said: Dear Miss Cheerilee, Sweetie Belle has just received her cutie mark and is wearing a cape for a certain reason. Since today was show and tell we thought that she could use that to tell the class. We also request that you let her go last. Sincerely, Rarity Sweetie could hardly wait, just then she heard a noise that made her hart beat faster: "We have just one more filly left,” Cheerilee announced, “Sweetie Belle, please come and take your turn." Sweetie heard whispers from around the room. "I wonder why she had to go last!" "Why is she wearing that cape?" "She probably had to go last because Cheerilee didn't want to be humiliated by her fail at getting a show and tell cutie mark!" Sweetie walked tall and proud, a large smile was on her face; when she got to the front, she took a deep breath and spoke: "My fellow classmates, you all are probably wondering why I am wearing such a lovely cape. The answer is that I wanted to show off my sister's handiwork! I mean, look at the stitching inside!" She lifted up the cape just far enough that it showed the stitching. "It’s perfect! Allow me to show you the rest!" Sweetie then stepped out of the cape and a hush went over the room. Suddenly, somepony started to clap, then another, soon almost the entire class was cheering and clapping. Sweetie then saw Diamond and Silver with their mouths open in awe. She smiled to herself. Today was her day.
