Saying Goodbye

by RariDash

A sad goodbye

The rain fell on the ground in a peaceful manner. It was very dark outside, except for a single spot in an open field. A grave with a few lights on it stood out among everything. On the grave was Rainbow Dash's cutie mark.
An orange filly with purple hair sat in front of the grave.
"Rainbow..." she said.
It all happened a few years ago and its still a shock to everyone. Rainbow had been practicing her new move to show to the Wonderbolt Academy when she went back for training. However, Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 were busy discussing things in her castle. So the only pony watching Rainbow was her number one fan, Scootaloo. However, this move turned out to be too intense as Rainbow's wings could not withstand the speed and intensity, so they gave out, sending her spiraling toward the ground at high speeds. Scootaloo watched in horror as her favorite pony was falling to her demise.
Since she couldn't fly Scootaloo ran to Twilight's Castle and banged on the door, when Twilight answered Scoots told her everyhing and Twilight zoomed out of her castle and flew as fast as she could to where Scoots said Dash was. When Scoots finally got there she saw Twilight sitting near Dash on the ground. When Scootaloo got closer she saw Dash was not saved and had hit the ground hard enough to snap 2 legs out of place and snap her neck.
"Rainbow..." Scoots said.
Twilight was unable to speak as she was mortified that such a thing could happen.
In that moment Scootaloo remembered everything her and Dash did together, and she burst into tears.
"I just came by to say thanks...for everything..." she choked "and...I got my cutie mark"
Scootaloo pointed to the mark on her flank representing a sewing machine.
"I just wish you were still here Dashie...I always viewed you as the best mare in Equestria...heh...maybe the best pony..." she started to tear up.
Scootaloo felt a hoof on her shoulder. When she looked up she saw Twilight.
Twilight was unable to save Rainbow as when she finally got to her she was only a few feet from the ground. Everyone says the only pony who would have been able to save her...was herself.
Scootaloo hugged Twilight as hard as she could.
"Why did this have to happen to her..." she sobbed.
Twilight hugged her back and said
"I don't know but there is a reason for everything..." but Twilight had no clue why THIS happened.
Scootaloo started to cry harder getting tears into Twilight's fur.
Twilight started to cry too, seeing a filly cry was awful and she felt her pain, she always viewed Dash as a sister. And now she was gone.
Twilight remembered the funeral...everypony Dash ever met was there. The buffalo, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, everypony in Ponyville, heck...even the Wonderbolts themselves were there. Spitfire couldn't believe it.
"If only...I had recruited her...she had enough skill..."
Scootaloo let go of Twilight
"Twilight...could you give me sometime alone with her?"
Twilight nodded and walked away leaving Scoots alone with Dash's grave.
"You...left me Rainbow...you left me sister-less..." Scootaloo teared up "I...miss you Dashie..."
Scootaloo clenched her eyes shut and started to cry more.
"Dash...why......why not someone else....you were too young..."
Scootaloo hugged the grave, tears streaming down her face and onto the grave.
Then she felt a bright light through her eyelids. Scootaloo opened her eyes and saw a bright Rainbow emanating from her grave.
"R...rainbow?"
She followed the length of the Rainbow with her eyes and saw where it ended...her home,
Scootaloo was confused at first but understood what it meant. Rainbow was telling her that no matter what, no matter when, she will ALWAYS be with her.
"Thank you Rainbow"
