My Lady, My Love, My Life

The Big Answer

Five Months Later…

With Trixie already having enough bits to afford the wedding of their dreams, there was no reason to keep prolonging the wedding any further. All they needed was time to prepare everything for the big day.

The wedding was what everypony was talking about in Canterlot. They were all wearing formal clothes. The chamber where the ceremony was going to be held was ready. Most of the seats were occupied and Princess Celestia was at the altar and her sister beside her, alongside Spike, who was holding the golden bracelets, and a band waiting next to the altar. The brides were still in their rooms, getting ready.

“Trixie, are you sure that you don’t need any help?” Twilight called from outside Trixie’s room. “You asked me to be your best mare for a reason.”

“I’m almost ready, Twilight! I didn’t want you to see my outfit just yet.”

“I understand, but why didn't you change in the bathroom while I waited in the bedroom and maybe sit?”

“Oh… that’s a good idea.” The lavender Unicorn groaned. “But I just need to fix this a little and… done! You can come in.”

Twilight opened the door but her best friend was nowhere to be found. “Where are you?”

“In the bathroom! I want to make a dramatic entrance.”

Twilight shook her head with a smile as she closed the door. “Alright, I’m ready!” The bathroom door opened and Trixie slowly walked out. Twilight’s eyes widened and smiled widely as Trixie turned on her axis; showing her attire. She was wearing a scoltish kilt with a sporran and a white formal blouse. Her hair was combed especially for this day.

“So, what do you think?”

“Wow, I mean… I can barely recognize you, Trixie! You look amazing!”

“Thank you, Twilight, that means a lot.” Trixie replied with a smile before hugging her. “I’m really nervous.”

“I can’t notice. You’re hiding it very well!”

“You think? Oh, of course you do. You’re always right.”

Twilight chuckled. “Thank you for the compliment. Now, let’s go to the Altar. Pinkie will meet us there.” Trixie nodded and followed Twilight out of the room and through the corridor. The blue Unicorn kept her mind busy to lesser her nervousness as much as possible.

“Fluttershy, call Applejack. I need her to tie this Tartan sash properly.” Fluttershy nodded, she stopped helping Rarity with her makeup and walked outside the bathroom. Rarity worked on her eyelashes until Applejack came.

“Alrigh’, sugarcube, put your forelegs on the wall so I can tie yer belt.”

“It’s a Tartan sash.” Rarity said slightly annoyed and she put her forelegs on the wall.

“Same thing.” Applejack replied with a smile. “Push the wall!” She added before biting Rarity’s Tartan sash and pulling. “There! It won’t leave your waist.”

“Thank you, Applejack. I think I’m ready. I’ll look myself at the mirror in the bedroom. ” Rarity walked outside the bathroom followed by Applejack. The fancy Unicorn stood in front of the floor mirror and admired her full body. Her hair was also prepared for the occasion. She was wearing a long white dress and her Tartan sash tightly tied around her waist. Her lips had light pink lipstick and her eyelashes had purple makeup. “Be honest, how do I look, girls?”

“You look really beautiful, Rarity.” Fluttershy said with a smile.

“Yes, you do.” Applejack spoke, still smiling. “Yer ready, sugarcube.”

“Thank you.” Rarity said before hugging both of her friends. Moments later, Magnum, Sweetie Belle and Pearl entered the room. Rarity broke the hug with her friends to look at her parents. “Mom, dad, Sweetie Belle…”

“Rarity!” Sweetie Belle said before hugging her sister. “You look beautiful, sis!”

“Thank you, Sweetie.” Rarity smiled at the filly before, once again, looking at her parents.

“You look gorgeous, Rarity.” Pearl said with a smile as she approached to her older daughter. “I can’t believe that you’re getting married today.”

Rarity, who was crying of joy, cleared her tears and sniffed. “Thank you, mom. I have never been so happy as I am right now.”

“You should be.” Magnum spoke. “You’re marrying a wonderful pony. Not every day you meet somepony who’s willing to do anything to make you smile and keep you safe. I’m really glad that you met her.”

“Even when she’s a mare?”

“Even so.” The stallion said with a warm smile. "I thought that it was clear that we're fine with your relationship."

“Rarity, dear, we have already told you that your happiness is what matters. Trixie is the perfect candidate for you.” Rarity’s mother said as she put her forelegs on Rarity’s cheeks.

“But, you didn’t invite her to your home, nor had any quality time with her alone.”

“We decided to wait until after you two get married, to not screw anything up.” Pearl said.

“Oh, you wouldn’t screw anything up. If somepony is to do that, it’s me.” Rarity and her parents laughed while Sweetie Belle looked at them, smiling from pony to pony. When the laughter stopped, the family hugged.

“Ah' don’t want to ruin the moment, but it’s time to go to the Altar.” Applejack said, making Rarity to abruptly break the hug.

“You’re right! My Trixie-boo is waiting for me!”

“I’ll go ahead so the band knows that you’re coming.” Pearl said. Rarity nodded while she fought to stop her tears.

“We’ll go with you. The bridesmaids need to be at the Altar before the bride arrives.” Applejack said before she and Fluttershy followed Pearl, who opened the door and kept it opened until Rarity, Magnum and Sweetie Belle got through.

“Sweetie…” Rarity began, but her sister stopped her.

“I know what to do. I have already did it once! But with Scootaloo and Applebloom. I can handle it alone.”

The band was almost ready and Trixie was on her spot. Next to her stood Twilight and Pinkie Pie, while Princess Celestia was behind her. Trixie was ready, but still nervous. Especially since Rarity’s mother, Pearl, was already on her seat.

“Trixie, don’t worry. My brother was also nervous when he was about to marry Princess Cadence, but he managed to calm himself when he saw the mare he was going to marry to.”

“Wasn’t he hypnotized and later worried because the Changeling Queen almost took over Equestria?”

“Oh, I forgot that Princess Celestia already told you about that… still, after defeating Queen Chrysalis, the ceremony continued as normal. I’m telling you the truth, Trixie. Breathe, relax.” The blue Unicorn took a deep breath and released it a couple of seconds later.

“Thank you, Twilight.” Trixie said, recovering her smile.

“Oh, oh, Trix! Are you free tomorrow? Maybe we can all hang out to celebrate your new life!” Pinkie Pie said, cheerful as always.

“I’m going on a two weeks Honeymoon with Rarity tomorrow. I’ll spend a week at Unicorn Hills and another week on Scoltland, where my roots are.”

“Oh… well, maybe we can do something when you get back!”

“Absolutely, Pinkie.” Just when Pinkie Pie returned to her spot, the big doors opened. Sweetie Belle appeared from it, throwing petals to the floor while the band started to play a wonderful theme. Moments later, Rarity entered the room, walking slowly through the carpet to the Altar and with her father by her side. Trixie gulped and stood firmly where she was; puffing her chest and gazing at Rarity as she approached. Once Rarity made it to the Altar, her father kissed her on her cheek and went to his seat. Trixie lend Rarity a hoof to climb the small stairs. The white pony stood on her place and Princess Celestia spoke, once the band stopped playing.

“Fillies and gentlecolts, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union between Trixie Lulamoon and Rarity. Two souls with many differences, but yet, their love is pure. I understand that you wrote your vows. You may now read them.” Fluttershy gave a piece of parchment to Applejack, who later gave it to Rarity. The fashionista cleared her throat quietly and began reading her vows.

“Trixie, my darling, through my entire life I searched for the perfect stallion to fall in love and marry. A stallion who cares for me, who spends time with me and loves me unconditionally. Who would have said that I would meet somepony with those characteristics but inside a mare?” Rarity paused for a moment to glance at Trixie, who blushed as she smiled. “Our relationship has ups and downs but it’s worth fighting for it. I’m really glad that I took you in the night you showed up at my boutique, hurt. You changed my world, Trixie, and you did it for the best. I have never been so happy in my entire life. I can’t imagine my life without you by my side, which is why I’m marrying you today. I promise to stay with you forever, and I know that you will do the same.” Rarity put the parchment away and gazed at Trixie’s eyes, who was still dazed by Rarity’s speech.

“Trixie Lulamoon, your turn.”

“Huh?” Trixie woke up by Princess Celestia’s voice. “Oh, right!” She took her vows from Twilight, thanking her in the process, and began reading her vows.

“Rarity, before falling in love with you, I was a disaster. I don’t need to remind everypony the jerk I used to be, but I do need to say that you did the unthinkable to me. You made me a better pony. I fell for your personality before I realized how gorgeous you are. You helped me to make things right, to contribute and play my part in Ponyville. I found a good job and, thanks to you, I have friends and a reason to live. I used to think that I didn’t need of anypony to live, now, I can’t live without you. You make me smile, you cheer me up, and you support me when I’m in need. I don’t even want to think where I would be without you. You’re my lady, my love, and my life.” Rarity couldn’t hold herself. She put one of her forelegs on one of Trixie’s cheeks and kissed her with passion. The Princess of the Sun was confused; she didn’t know how to react.

“Umm, you may now kiss?” A lot of ‘awws’ were heard among the guests, except for two disgusted sounds coming from Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash. Twilight looked over at Fluttershy, who blushed in response. One day, they would be in Rarity and Trixie’s place. When the brides broke the kiss, Princess Celestia continued while they kept eye contact. “The bracelets?” Spike stood between Rarity and Trixie, holding two golden bracelets on a red pillow. “Trixie Lulamoon, do you promise to stand by Rarity's side, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, 'till death break you part?”

“I do.” Trixie said while she put the bracelet on Rarity’s left foreleg.

“Rarity, do you promise to stand by Trixie’s side, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, ‘till death break you apart?”

“I do.” Rarity said while she put the bracelet on Trixie’s left foreleg.

“I now pronounce you Mare and Mare. You may now kiss… again.” Trixie slowly leaned to Rarity’s lips, but the later put her forelegs behind her head and pulled her into a longer passionate kiss than the last one. Everypony stomped the floor in approval. When the just married couple parted, they smiled at their guests before walking through the carpet, close to each other, while rice was being thrown at them to celebrate their union.

“Everyone, allow me to introduce you to Ms. and Mrs. Lulamoon!” A different band than the ones who played while Rarity walked to the altar said when Trixie and Rarity entered the room where the reception was being held. They were received with cheers; greeting everyone as they walked. “We are The Rogues and we’re here to make their big day last forever!”

“Wait!” Trixie said to the band. “Isn’t our first dance supposed to be a vals?”

“Don’t worry, my darling.” Rarity said, walking next to Trixie. “I’m fine with this. I told you that I would hire them!”

“Yes, but I thought that the first dance was going to be performed by the other band.”

“No, no. The reception will be all about you, my love. I have already had my moment to shine. Now, it will be about you.” The fancy Unicorn kissed one of Trixie’s cheeks after saying the last. “Take it as my first gift as your wife.” Trixie smiled at her. Rarity looked back at The Rogues. “Go ahead, good gentlecolts… and mare” The female member nodded, sure of herself, while the leader nodded and looked at the rest of the band. “Let’s get this party started!”

The music started. Strangely enough, the first song didn’t have bagpipes. Two of the members carefully put their bagpipes on the floor and took violins instead. One pony took a drum and began to play it and the main singer soon began to sing.

In South Australia I was born
(Heave away, haul away)
In South Australia round Cape Horn
(We’re bound for South Australia)

(Haul away your rolling king
Heave away, haul away
Haul away you’ll hear me sing
We're bound for South Australia)

Trixie quickly took one of Rarity’s forelegs and began to dance with her. In no time, everyone joined her. Twilight took Fluttershy to dance, Applejack did it with Rainbow Dash, Sweetie Belle danced with Button Mash and Pinkie Pie danced with Spike so he wouldn’t feel lonely.

As I woke up one morning fair
(Heave away, Haul away)
'Twas there I met Miss Nancy Blair
(We're bound for South Australia)

Oh I shook her up and I shook her down
(Heave away, haul away)
I shook her round and round the town
(We’re bound for South Australia)

No one ceased to dance, even though the song had a fast pace.

There's just one thing that's on my mind
(Heave away, Haul away)
That's leaving Nancy Blair behind
(We're bound for South Australia)

And as we wallop round Cape Horn
(Heave away, Haul away)
You'll wish to God you’d never been born
We're bound for South Australia

When the music got faster, ponies stopped to dance due the speed. Others kept dancing. When the song was about to end, only Applejack and Trixie kept dancing, facing each other. They were having a competition to see who gave up first. Applejack was persistent, she didn’t show any sign of tiredness while Trixie was sweating in large ammounts. Applejack danced even faster and Trixie couldn’t keep up. She fell to the floor just as the song ended, exhausted and Rarity ran to her side and helped her to get up.

“Wow, Applejack…” Trixie managed to say as she recovered her breath. “You… really have some good moves…!”

“Mah family organizes similar dances during our annual Apple family reunion.” The farmer pony spoke while Rainbow Dash walked next to her with a glass of water. “Yer speaking to the five times consecutive champion. Thanks, Rainbow.” Rainbow Dash smirked.

“What a way to start the reception!” Twilight commented as she approached to her friends, with Fluttershy by her side. “I just couldn’t keep up.”

“I… stopped in the middle of the song, sorry, girls…” Fluttershy said to Rarity and Trixie.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about, darling.” Rarity said with a smile.

“Yes. Your body had enough and you had to stop. You can’t force yourself to continue.” Trixie continued. Even though both mares assured her that there was nothing to be sorry about, Fluttershy was still sad.

Twilight nuzzled cheeks with her. “Let’s sit, Shy. We need to rest.” The yellow Pegasus nodded and she walked to a table alongside her fiancée.

“You, lads, really moved! That was the idea. Now, it’s time to eat something before continuing to dance. Don’t worry; we won’t make you move like we just did.” The leader of the band said through a microphone.

An hour later, after eating, the band was getting ready to perform again.

“Have any of you seen Trixie?” Rarity asked to her friends.

“I haven’t.” Spike said.

“Didn’t she go to the bathroom fifteen minutes ago?”

“She can’t be in the bathroom for that long.” Rarity worriedly said.

“Maybe she ate something in a bad state.” Rainbow Dash said.

“Rainbow Dash!” Applejack scolded her.

“What?! It’s possible!”

“We’ve made sure that everything was in condition, it can’t be possible.” Rarity said, slightly annoyed.

“Look, she’s over there!” Pinkie Pie pointed to the stage where the band was. Trixie was, indeed, with them. She was speaking with the leader. They saw that the leader nodded and Trixie looked extremely happy. She walked backwards to the middle of the stage and she sat. Her horn lighted and her bagpipe appeared between her hooves.

“Is she going to…?” But Rainbow Dash’s question was answered before she could even finish it. The leader of the band approached to the microphone and spoke.

“Fillies and Gentlecolts, we are now going to improvise with one of the wives. Pay attention, you might hear this only once.”
Trixie began playing her bagpipe, alone for a few seconds, before the guitarist and the pony with the drum joined her. She played accompanied by the guitarist and the drum for another little while before she rested and a pony with an accordion started playing. Everyone was amazed by the music they were hearing, but the most amazed was Rarity, who would always get hypnotized every time Trixie played her instrument, just like the day the proposal happened. After some time, Trixie began playing again and the accordion stopped, but the drum and the guitar didn’t. They played for a while before the accordion sounded again and Trixie rested. The blue Unicorn didn’t show it, but she was worried. She didn’t know how to continue without sounding repetitive. But just as she was about to play again, a piano came to the rescue. While she performed alongside the band, she looked next to the stage, where the piano was. She saw see Spike playing it with Pinkie Pie next to him, waving at Trixie with her usual smile. Trixie shared the smile while she continued to perform until she decided to give it a definitive end. Everypony stomped the floor in approval and cheered while Trixie left her bagpipe to a side.

“That was a great improvisation, lad.”

“Thanks.” Trixie said as she walked to the edge of the stage to look at Rarity and admire her beauty. “I was inspired.”

“Listen, do you mind if we play this song on our own? Of course, we will say that you got the idea. Do you have a name for it?”

“Yes.” Trixie was still lost in Rarity’s eyes, smiling from side to side. “I’ll call it Rarity Lulamoon.”

“A great name, indeed.”

“Thank you for letting me to improvise with you.”

“Our pleasure.” Trixie walked off stage, received for even more cheers. She walked directly to her friends and wife. Rainbow Dash patted her back and the rest congratulated her verbally, except for Rarity, who rested her head on Trixie’s chest and snuggled against it. Their new lives just began and they’ve started with the right leg.
