Phoenix

by Lemon Pegasus

Town hero

Phoenix drew his gun and sprinted for the town, when another burst of fire arose from one of the buildings! Before two long, the bandits might have burnt every damn building in there! He noticed the outlines of ponies surrounding the town, clearly Bob Bullet still wanted a group to ensure no word got out.

It was deathly cold at night time, but Phoenix still felt sweat drip from his forehead from the effort of having to sprint towards the town just as he sprinted away from it! He was now 10 feet from the first guard, he tackled the pony to the ground at full speed and impaled the pony's skull with the handle of his revolver. He did not have a dagger, and he only had 8 shots in his revolver. Plus the noise of the gunshot would draw attention. Nice, this pony he just killed has a gun!

Phoenix used his magic to lift the dead pony's gun, he checked it's chamber: full round of bullets. He then found in the pockets of this pony loads more bullets! He was now set to go. Phoenix thought for a second, which tactic should he use? A: he could silently kill the guards with his revolver handle, but that would take forever. Or B: he could duel wield the guns and be the hero the town thinks he is! Yeah, option B.

Phoenix could see the outline of two ponies, one on either side. He had a clear shot at pony #1, with a single shot, he was dead. He twisted around to see the other pony had saw him. He saw the pony draw his gun, but Phoenix -quick on the draw- shot at the pony! The pony collapsed onto his front leg, Phoenix must have hit a hoof. With another shot, the pony was dead.

Phoenix then scouted around the town, occasionally taking out a bandit who roamed within it's fences. Soon enough, another guard came into view. Suddenly, Phoenix saw a small pony heading it's way, when -with a shot from the guard- the pony collapsed. Phoenix was not sad, only angry. With an unplanned "NO" of rage, Phoenix drew both guns and shot the guard ~twice.

Phoenix sprinted toward the dead pony (not the guard, the one the guard just killed) and was immediately shocked. He turned over the body, and a familiar yellow furred filly with a red mane was illuminated by the burning building no more than 11 feet away. Phoenix dropped his revolvers, and wept. This corpse was the corpse of the same pony who gave him that flower. Once Phoenix had regained his breath, he realized he had a new goal: find the pony responsible and kill him. "Bob Bullet."

Phoenix completely forgot about trying to take out the guards surrounding the town at this point, he just charged into town screaming like a maniac. The town residents had all rebelled against the bandits, even the elderly stood outside shooting blindly at them. Phoenix was about to shoot, when, he had a better idea. He returned his pistols to their holsters and, using all his strength, shot green bolts of lightning from his horn. The bolts illuminated the roads and zapped the bandits with immense amounts of electricity, roaring with immense power. The ponies collapsed within a matter of seconds, their clothes had fried.

The town ponies watched in awe, but Phoenix was not bothered, he had a job to do, a new one...
Phoenix charged at a building and used his wind casting spell to lift himself upon the rooftop, now he had to take out the bandits on the roves. Phoenix was able to tell which ponies were good and bad, as all the bandits in his group wore red bandannas to hide their identity. Thanks to the torches that lined the roads, Phoenix could at least see where the bandits were. The lightning spell wouldn't work over long distances, so instead, he went for the trademark fireballs. The heat of every small ball of flame that arose from his horn made him have to close his eyes, but he continued firing them.

Despite Phoenix having clear motives as to why he was doing this, he couldn't help but feel slightly upset about killing the ponies that trusted him, but how would it be any different from killing the town ponies? Phoenix was caught off guard by the one pony he was looking for: Bob Bullet. He walked round the corner of a building and immediately pointed his gun at Phoenix, who ducked and leaped off the roof top just before a bullet skimmed past his head.

Phoenix landed behind the building and heard a deep voice cry "get Phoenix, and put a bullet through his head!" Just at this moment, Phoenix noticed a pony by the church, holding off the bandits, about 50 yards away: Lucy! Phoenix had to reach her, he had to make sure she was safe, if one pony had the strength to get away from town and warn other ponies, it was her.

Phoenix did what could either be classed as dumb or brave. He sprinted into the open and used his wind spell to send a huge cloud of dust at the bandits, who coughed and screamed as the sand blinded them temporarily. He then headed for Lucy, who... drew her gun at him! Time slowed down, and Phoenix's scared gaze met Lucy's angry stare. When, suddenly, there was a loud bang and Phoenix fell into the sand in pain, literally just a couple of steps from Lucy. He rolled in the dirt after the momentum of running and lay there. He saw bandits head his way, who were all stopped dead in their tracks and were mowed down.

Phoenix used all the strength he had remaining to lift himself up and lazily push Lucy through the entrance to the church. Lucy fell over onto the wooden floor, just as Phoenix closed the door. Lucy got up, and Phoenix used her rifle to barricade the door. Phoenix turned to face Lucy, but in a blur, he was shoved against the door aggressively. Lucy stepped back for a second charge, but Phoenix used his magic to push Lucy back.

"Lucy, listen to me! You're not going to survive, and neither am I," He groaned in pain as his wound worsened, "Get out of town, and warn other ponies!" Lucy did no stop resisting.

"WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO YOU?" She screamed in protest, when the two of them heard ponies try to open the door with great force. "Come out of there before we come in" was heard from outside.

"That's why..." Phoenix calmly said to Lucy, and she stopped resisting. Suddenly, many gunshots were heard peppering the walls outside, Phoenix was glad this building wasn't made of wood like most of the others.

Lucy hesitated, then she ran down the corridor, not a single goodbye or word of advice. It was then quite, when a voice broke the silence.
"Phoenix, come out! Come out and face your judgement." It was Bob Bullet. Phoenix did not hesitate, he immediately turned around, lifted the rifle from the door and stepped outside. He completely ignored the many guns pointing at him and surrounding him, he just focused on one pony: Bob Bullet, who stood and grinned at him. Phoenix drew his gun, and fired, not a second of doubt. He had the delight of watching his body fall, just as many more gunshots were heard, and suffered... but at least the job was done.
