//------------------------------// // The one and only // Story: Abridged Macpony // by Sapare //------------------------------// As based on MacBeth by Shakespeare and the world of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic(MLP FIM) originally created by Lauren Faust. Foreword: Do to length restrictions this is much more an abridged and comedic piece of literature rather then the serious piece it had been meant to be. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MacPony in under twothousand words The sun was shinning in the land of Equestria, a reflection of the happy citizens and their peaceful god like rulers. However, today was not a day like most. The inhabitants of the royal city of Canterlot were assembled in the royal palace. All eyes were set on three particulare ponies, two alicorns and one unicorn. One of the two alicorns, a white mare and much larger then all other assembled ponies, spoke in a calm but proud voice. "My student, we have assembled here today for me to officially make you an alicorn, and with it, grant you the alicorn powers of wings and immortality. Do you accept this honor?" The unicorn responded in a rather jaded tone. "Sure, but can we get done with this? I really got to get going." After another short moment of silence the white alicorn gave a sigh and rested her horn on the unicorns head. There was a flash of light, and when it had faded, the once unicorn had gained a pair of wings and everypony in the room was staggering about, temperarily blinded. The white alicorn ignored this little mishap, "Now everypony, make way for Twilight our new heir to the throne." yelling it like a command, so no one would dare speak against her. Everypony stood up and quickly made space so Twilight could easily leave the palace. She quickly made her way outside where she ran into a familiar pony. "About time that ceremony got done. How do you like those new wings of yours?." Said the waiting pegasus. She had a cyan colored fur and her mane was not unlike a rainbow. "Why are you interrupting me like this? I just want to get back to my library but if you must, you can stick around." The recently made alicorn replied. "There really isn't much more to my character, than flying and annoying, so sure I'll stick around." The cyan pegasus said proudly, flapped her own wings to bring herself of the ground. Twilight gave a sigh and did the same, but her lack of practice in flight made it difficult for her to take off. dissatisfied, she used magic to stabilize herself. Halfway from Canterlot to Ponyville Twilight decided to rest in the hope of boring her 'friend' away. However, her plan was interrupted when three very strange looking beings appeared. Twilight noticed how they walked on two legs and their mane was rather short, they also lacked any sign of a tail. But she really did not care, all she wanted to do was get back home and read. "Whoever you are just leave us alone, alright?" She asked and looked annoyed, Rainbow Dash however flexed her wings and looked a lot more willing to attack. One of the strangers started to talk. "Hello Twilight. Recently made alicorn and soon to be mistress of the night." The purple alicorn had not really paid much attention to whatever was being said, but being called mistress of the night was certainly not a bad thing. The being continued its praise "Inevitable leader of all Equestria. Ruler of sun and moon, as Celestia has been before you." Rainbow Dash felt bored and darted toward the being who had spoken. But before she could reach him, all three of the strange beings vanished from sight. She turned back toward Twilight, quite confused by all this. Twilight answered Rainbow Dash, before even hearing her question "It's magic, it does not have to be explained" and continued her flight toward Ponyville.. It was early morning in Ponyville and one day after the ceremony. Twilight was still recovering from yesterday's excitement when there was a knock on her door. Twilight opened the door and found herself facing a rather curious looking pony with oddly aligned eyes, making it difficult for Twilight to tell where it was looking. "Mailmare here! Miss Twilight is to directly report to Celestia." Twilight could not help but frown, wondering why there couldn't be a week without a disaster. "Thank you, continue your rounds as normal." Not waiting for an answer, Twilight rushed outside and made her way toward Canterlot. Celestia was waiting, and started speaking immediately. "Luna tried to have me killed and I had no choice but sending her to the moon, again." Celestia rolled her eyes and sighed. "And here I thought we were done with this, but we are prepared. In her absence, you are now the mistress of the night." Twilight did not really mind the news. It had been foretold that she will be mistress of the night and if one prediction came true, maybe so would the rest. "Best day ever! Thank you my lady. May I take my leave so I can study moving the moon or whatever Luna's job was?" Twilight inquired. She had to admit that she was not really sure what Luna actually did. Supposedly she moved the moon but Twilight had never really seen it herself. "Her job, now yours, is to stand there and acts as if this was not a sole dictatorship." Celestia responded. she had to admit to herself that she was rather surprised that her student never caught on to this. "No more studying dreadful old books or unnecessary learning. You can just have fun and have the whole empire respect you for it!" looking rather pleased at her new scapegoat, "Don't spend a minute doing anything else. You wouldn't want to end up like Luna, would you?" Twilight frowned and thought to herself "But I like books! You will not take them from me! Wait... if I become sole empress of Equestria, then I can read all I want." Speaking up finally Twilight put on a smile "Oh yes my Queen, that sounds absolutely awesome. I will get right to doing nothing, just like lazy old Luna." Running off, scheming to herself. The next few weeks were rather uneventful. Twilight had to study in secret, and keep up her lazy, carefree facade. Until, she stumbled across her master's most important spell. She studied up, and practiced discretely until it was time to try it out for real. "SPIKE!!" Suddenly a green baby dragon walked up to Twilight. He looked very stressed as he approached. "I do not understand why you have to yell, I'm right here you know. Anyway, I really don't understand why you haven't just gone out with your friends these last few weeks." Spike spoke his mind as always but when he saw the dangerous grin on Twilight's face he knew he shouldn't have. "You know Spike, I am the one who hatched you. You also have been a great assistant over the years but I require your help one more time. After this last spell you will be my equal." Spike dragged his feet over the ground and nodded, it was not like he had much choice, and the prospect of equality was rather nice. "Alright, just stand still and it will be over in a moment." Twilight closed her eyes and started to concentrate. After a moment her unicorn horn began to glow and there was a white flash, just like the one which had given her wings before. Twilight opened her eyes and was overcome by sorrow for a moment. Spike was gone and she doubted he had run off. She looked around her room to make sure and came to the conclusion that her spell had worked. To excited to contain herself, Twilight ran up to Celestia's room, startling the older Alicorn who tried to remain calm "Yes my student, what is it?" "You know how you told me I'm not allowed to read or study anymore? Well I thought about it and decided that I do not approve." Twilight feeling confident in herself, and the prophecy of the strange robed creatures had spoken of before. "You are acting very strange, you know that? Why would you confront me like this, when I can send ponies to the moon?" Celestia was stunned in shock when Twilight suddenly burst out in laughter. "Sorry, but what a silly threat. Especially when you leave such powerful spells laying around in your library." She gave an innocent grin and turned herself toward a window and looked out to the sky. "Some pony could learn it, and use it against their own mentor, just to finally read books in the open you know!" Twilight's expression had suddenly changed into a much darker shade and looked rather scary. Celestia was dumbstruck by her student and friend acting so aggressively. she would've never guessed taking away her books would make her so crazy. "Goodbye my lady, off the moon you go." Twilight said as she turned herself toward Celestia, her horn already glowing. There was a flash of light and once it was gone only Twilight remained. She was staggering across the hall trying to make it through the door but instead walked into the wall. "Should have closed my eyes, I hate those bright flashes." The next morning Twilight was awakened by a group of guards and the royal advisor, who looked rather angry. "Madam, Celestia is gone and we fear someone used magic to kidnap her!" Twilight gave a dismissive gesture with her hoof and stared at the two royal guards. "I am sure they are to blame! Was it not their job to make sure Celestia was safe? They most likely used their magic." The royal advisor turned toward the royal guards and then back to the purple Alicorn. "Miss, they are pegasoi, Pegasoi do not have magic." "Well I don't know. It certainly was not me! Now, everypony leave me be, I have books that need reading." Twilight using her magic to throw them all out before they could distract her further. Ever since Celestia had disappeared there was problem with the natural world. The sun stopped setting and the moon stopped rising. This upset nearly everypony but no one openly doubted Twilight's leadership. Twilight had finally been able to relax and read some books, when her most loyal friend flew into the library. "Oh hey there Rainbow Dash. What are you here for?" Twilight asked rather dismissively, she did not really care about any of her friends now that she had her books back. "I know what you did! You've forgotten that I was there when you first heard the prophecy! I'll tell everypony the truth about you." "Well alright then, thankyou for being so loyal." Twilight speaking with extreme sarcasm "Do you even remember what my element was? Magic! Now to the moon with you!" With that Twilight used her magic once more and sent her most loyal friend to the moon remembering to close her eyes for the flash; returning to her reading without a second thought. A few days later the three strange prophets appeared in Twilight's room, interrupting her reading. "Twilight, there is an army marching on the palace! ponies everywhere are angry with your leadership" Twilight sighed, displeased with anything distracting her while she studied. "Then tell me something useful" "we can only tell prophesies. We bring you a truth to warn you of your fate. Nothing that can meet your stare can harm you." Twilight grunted unsatisfied "If these predictions are always true, what is the point of letting me know? If I am to die I will die no matter what I do. So I just watch out for blind ponies and wait." fearing her building aggression, the three prophets decided not to answer, disappearing as swiftly as they came. Within the hour, a large crowd of ponies stormed into the palace, demanding her life. More than ready, and even bored at the futile effort of the common ponies, Twilight easily started to cast her magic again, her horn glowing brighter than ever. In a spectacular flash, she sent all the ponies to the moon but once again forgot to close her eyes and started to stagger blindly around the room. It was then in this moment, when all hope had faded that, Derpy, the cross-eyed postmaster of ponyvile, was distracted by the brilliant show, dropping her delivery of anvils, and crushing Twilight to death.
