We'll Get These Rocks to Sing

"Hey!" Pinkie said suddenly. "Does anypony else think that I look angry in the background at the top of the screen?"

Rainbow looked at her with a confused face. "Pinkie, what in the wide world of Equestria are you talking about?"

"No Rainbow Dash," Pinkie scolded. "It's 'Pinkie, what in the wide, wide world of Equestria are you doing right now?'. I remember very specifically what Twilight said to me."

Rainbow facehoofed. "Fine! What in the wide, wide world of Equestria are you doing right now?"

"Sheesh Dashie, you don't need to sound so angry about it. And to answer your question, I'm trying to get these rocks to sing."

There were several moments of silence before the wind whistled and a tumbleweed blew through Ponyville.

"I didn't know there were rolly circle bushies in Ponyville!" Pinkie said, following the tumbleweed as it passed though Ponyville. Rainbow just watched Pinkie as she vanished over a small hill.

"Getting rocks to sing...?" she asked.

"That's right!" Pinkie said excitedly from behind Rainbow, causing the pegasus to jump ten feet into the air. "Especially the words: 'Boingy Bing'!"

"Pinkie," Rainbow said from a cloud, "rocks don't si-"

She was cut off when Pinkie somehow reached a hoof up to her and stopped her talking. She then somehow stretched out her neck to over ten times the length and right next to her face. She then whispered, "That's just what they want you to think!" before returning to Pinkie Pie levels of 'normal'.

Rainbow stared between Pinkie and the large pile of rocks that had somehow made their way behind Pinkie. Pinkie looked at the rocks. "Jeffery! Is that you? I haven't seen you since the rock farm! I almost didn't recognize you, you've grown so much!"

Rainbow facehoofed again. "You know what? Fine. You get your rocks to sing. I'll go back to helping organize Twilight's new books from Princess Celestia."

"Wait Dashie!" Pinkie said suddenly, causing her to turn around. "Don't you want to see them sing? Jeffery from back home has a killer G-Flat!"

Rainbow gulped a bit. "Sorry, but uh, as I said, I have to go help with the books. Talk to ya later Pinkie!" she finished and flew off before Pinkie could reply.

"Strange..." she said. "I thought we finished with all the books Princess Celestia gave us yesterday. Ah, who cares! Jeffery, can I see if you still have that amazing G-Flat?"

The rock said nothing.

"Amazing! Just like Henry and the other one... Oh, what was his name...?" She then proceeded to bonk herself on the head several times with her hoof. "Think, think, think, think, think, think, think...."

Rainbow finally rested on a cloud that floated in the middle of Ponyville. "I don't get Pinkie sometimes," she said. "Yesterday she was bothering us to try and see the other side of the mirror portal." Rainbow sighed. "I know she wants to see what's there, but she should know better. Twilight said that there was another universe on the other side with other 'us-es'... Is that a word?" She pondered for a bit before bonking her head. "Gah, I'm becoming a bigger egghead than Twilight!"

The sound of music filled her ears. "What's that?" she said while flipping herself onto her belly and glancing down at Ponyville. She looked around, but everypony else just seemed to shrug it off and pretend like it wasn't there. "I know I hear something... It sounds like a choir."

She tightly grabbed the cloud she was on and began flying in the direction of the music. When she found it, her mouth hung agape.

There were a bunch of rocks surrounding Pinkie in a huge semicircle around her. And they were hopping up and down, seeming making a big tune.

The strange thing is that tune seemed to change once every two lines or something, and each was sung by a different set of rocks.

"Eidle, eidle, eee... Eidle, eidle, eee... We simply can't leave until we get some wood..."

"Gotta go fast! Gotta go fast! Gotta go faster, faster, faster-faster-faster."

"Now we love to sing! Especially the words: Boingy Bing!"

"That was great you all!" Pinkie said applauding. "Now you all know what you have to do. Practice for that concert in a couple of weeks."

"You got it Pinkie!"

"We'll do our best Pinkie!"

"Take me with you Pinkie!"

"This guy pinched me Pinkie!"

"I've fallen and I can't get up Pinkie!"

"Aww, thank you all!" Pinkie said. She waved them all off. "Now head on home, you hear? Call me, beep me if you want to reach me!"

The rocks then all seemed to nod in agreement and start to hop away. Rainbow just continued staring from the cloud.

"Oh my gosh... Just wait till the others hear about this!"

"So Rainbow, darling, you're telling me that you saw Pinkie Pie conducting a choir of rocks in practice for a concert?" Rarity asked for what was probably the... seventh time.

Rainbow gave an annoyed sigh. "Yes, Rarity. I've explained exactly what I saw, what they sang, and what I heard Pinkie say."

"Well Sugarcube," Applejack began, "it all seems just so... unbelievable. I mean, ya'all sure you wasn't havin' some sort o' dream?"

"Yes Applejack, I'm sure I wasn't dreaming."

"Um..." Fluttershy said quietly, "I've known several rocks myself that have been able to talk and sing..."

"Hey girls!" Pinkie said excitedly from right behind Fluttershy, causing the pegasus to leap under the table. "What're you all talking about?"

"Hey Pinkie!" Rainbow said. "Can you please tell these non-believers about the little rock performance earlier?"

Pinkie stared back at her in confusion. "What're you talking about Rainbow Dash? There were no rocks doing a performance earlier."

"See!" Rainbow said. "Pinkie admits that she was having some- Wait... What do you mean there was no performance earlier? I saw it with my own two eyes!"

"You did? Maybe you need some glasses Rainbow. Those eyes must not be working."

"No, I don't... AUGGHH!" She slammed her head down on the table. "You know what? Fine! If you all won't believe me, I'll just go then!" She then proceeded to fly right out the door to Sugar Cube Corner, leaving the four mares alone.

"Do you think we should have told her?" Fluttershy asked, taking Rainbow's old spot.

"Nah," Applejack said. "It's funnier to watch her try and figure it out on her own."

"All too true, darling," Rarity agreed. "I'm not as good at Twilight, but that was some fine work."

"And remember girls," Pinkie said, "this is our little secret." They all nodded and smiled in agreement. "Now of you'll excuse me, I have to go make sure my other self doesn't see too much of our world."

The three other mares watched Pinkie hop out of the store. "Anypony else know what she meant by that?" Applejack asked. The rest of them shook their heads. "Me neither..."
