//------------------------------// // The Secret Door // Story: The Lost Princess // by Luvbuttonmash //------------------------------// It was a beautiful day in Equestria. All of the ponies were happy. Everything seemed to be right with the world. Twilight was catching up on some reading in the Castle of the Two Sisters, trying to find anything she didn't know about Equestria's past. She was lying on the floor, reading the Journal of the Two Sisters, when something caught her eye. "Huh?" Twilight whispered. She looked around to see what that glimmer was coming from. It was in the corner of the library. Twilight thought she knew all of the secret places of the castle, with the help of the journal. Twilight stood up and walked to the corner. There was a hidden door. She used her magic to open it, but it seemed to have a protective spell on the doorknob. "Hmm," Twilight said. She tried to use the "lock-unlock" spell, but it wouldn't budge. She then looked all through the library to try and find a spell that could break the protective spell. She finally found one an hour later, and she used it, breaking the spell and opening the door. She walked into the dark hallway, her pink aura illuminating it. She saw three doors. Walking into the first one, she saw an old, rusty table in the center of the room. She looked at the rest of her surroundings. There wasn't anything else in the room. She walked out and decided to move on. The second room was dark blue with moons everywhere. She could tell that this used to be Princess Luna's room. It consisted of a king-sized bed, a dresser, a closet, a window, and a...drawing? "What's that?" Twilight asked herself. She walked up to the picture. It was very sloppy and dusty. She blew the dust away, and saw a drawing of Princess Luna and an..alicorn? "Wha?" Twilight said to herself. She pondered on the thought and shrugged. Probably just a pony who wanted to be an alicorn, she thought. She walked out of the room and went into the next. She saw that it was pink, the wallpaper losing its color. She looked around the room. It was the same setup as Luna's, only it was filled with old toys on the bed. It looked like they have been touched recently. "This isn't Celestia's room," Twilight said. She looked at the closet and opened it. It was filled with dresses, shoes, and tiny accessories. "Who's room could this possibly be?" Twilight asked herself. She turned away from the closet, but that same glimmer came from it. She turned around and looked through it thoroughly. She saw white, shining armor that matched Celestia and Luna's. The armor had a snowflake on it. It was big enough to fit a filly. "This isn't Celestia's," Twilight said. "You're right, it isn't," a voice said. Twilight's ears perked up. "W-who said that?" Twilight asked. "You know, I didn't expect anypony to find out about this dreadful place. After all, I was "erased out of existence," the voice said,"especially a princess." "How'd you know I was a princess?" Twilight asked. "You're an alicorn. Celestia would never let an alicorn walk around in Equestria without it being a princess. Trust me, I know," she answered. Twilight turned around to see an alicorn standing right in front of her. Her mane was four colors. Her fur was golden. She saw that the mare was an alicorn as well. It looked like the alicorn in the drawing. "Who are you?" Twilight asked. "Let's just say that there was a time when I was Celestia's favorite. And yes, I am a princess," she said, walking towards the window and looking out in the sky. "How? We're you born into royalty?" Twilight asked. "You could say that. I prefer not to tell my story, as I don't really understand it myself," the mare said. "Can you please tell me your name?" Twilight asked again. "My name is Seasons, former bringer of the weather and, well, seasons," she responded. "Really?" Twilight said. "Yeah. It was a pretty hard job if you ask me, but I got used to it. It was, after all, my destiny," Seasons said, watching the sun come down and the moon rise up. "Why were you erased out of existence?" Twilight asked. "Well, I sort of had a fight with Celestia. She thinks that I'm dead, but I was actually sent back here, locked away forever. I finally found a spell to, you know, get out of here. But I have to stay. No one remembers me. I'm a distant memory of Celestia. She probably forgot about me too," she said, looking down. "Why did you fight with her? Why have I never heard of you?" Twilight asked the lonely princess. "You wanna know?" She said. Seasons walked towards her bed and took a book from behind her pillow. She slid it over to Twilight."Read it. Then you'll know. It's the only book I have that has my name in it. Now get out. I have plans of my own you know." "You can come with me. Since no one remembers you, you won't be judged. I hate to see some pony lonely," Twilight reassured her. "No. If no one knows me now, they soon will. Go ahead, show your ponyfolk that book. See if they believe you. See if they believe there was another princess. Just don't bring them here. Just, go away princess, and never return," she said, breaking into tears. Twilight grabbed the book with her aura and slowly walked away. But before she did, she said: "By the way, my name is Twilight Sparkle." "Twilight, what in the hay is that?" Applejack asked, looking the book she was reading. After her encounter with Seasons, she went straight home to read it. She needed to find out about the pony before talking to her again. She was very intrigued, flipping through the pages and pictures the princess drew as a filly in the book. Applejack just happened to walk in on her reading the mysterious book. "Um...just one of the many books in this library," Twilight lied. "Really Twi? I've never seen a book with that many pictures in it," she said, "especially a book that you would read." "I just..wanted to catch up with my inner child?" Twilight said in the form of a question. "Why in the hay are you lyin' about a book?" Applejack said,"let me see it." "You can't!" Twilight said. "Why not?" "Because....because." "Because what Twilight?" Applejack asked, getting really irritated. "I can't tell you why! You won't believe me anyway. You haven't seen her," Twilight blurted out. "Seen who?" "Uh..uh!" Twilight hesitated to say what was coming next. "Twilight, is there somethin' you ain't tellin' me?" Applejack asked with a concerned look on her face. Her friend was struggling to get the words out of her mouth. "I..I..I met a princess okay!" She blurted out."I met her in the Castle of the Two Sisters." "What? Another princess? Yeah, right Twilight," she said, laughing. "It's true! She gave me this book that's all about her! Look!" Twilight shoved the book into Applejack's face. After reading a few words, she put her hoof on the book and shoved it back. "A princess named Seasons? How come I've never heard of her?" Applejack asked. "Princess Celestia erased all memory of her," Twilight said."That's why she lives in that castle. She's very lonely." "Then why did ya leave her?" "She wanted to be alone. I tried to reason with her, but she just shooed me away. I really hated to leave her, but she wanted me to read this book," Twilight said, hovering the book back to her. "Well, I'll be darned if I ever see that princess of yours. You go ahead and keep readin'. I'm outta here," Applejack said. And she walked out, leaving the interested princess in peace. She found a page of how Seasons became a princess. When she saw, she was shocked to find out what happened. "Oh my Celestia..how could she?" Twilight said.
