Epilogue
For a Lifetime
The strange wish that had been received from a thousand years ago was only the first of strange events happening. That was the only one that included them as they all seemed to be centered in Equestria far away from all of them. They still heard about a lot of it though if not all. The return of the Crystal Empire had huge implications all over. The ascension of princess Twilight Sparkle made news nearly everywhere as well. The world around them changed rapidly but as the years passed they stayed constant to each other. They wouldn’t be separated by the forever turning world about them. They stayed together and that was what was important. The moments grew to days, weeks, months, and in the end years of constant presence. They had grown ever closer to each other eventually to the point of being inseparable.
The group of six sat together on the island’s beach at the beginning of one summer enjoying each other’s company. Every one of them had grown quite skilled in their various talents and had started discussing them more often. They talked among themselves that day mentioning their numerous activities and escapades involving their different abilities. “Yeah, life’s a lot easier now that it’s summer.” Zone commented as he talked with the group.
“And why is that?” Kara questioned as they were out of school so having summers off was no longer relevant.
“It’s way easier to work with easy summer breezes than pretty much anything else. The weather doesn’t just feel nice, it’s a lot nicer to work with. Plus changing seasons is a pain, even if it is just spring to summer. It gets really stressful at the weather station.” he answered.
“Yeah well you’re definitely right about the weather feeling nicer.” she replied as she relaxed into the sand.
“You’re welcome.” he told her.
“Please, it’s not like you run the place. There are other ponies involved.” she retorted with a roll of her eyes, but still grinning.
“Whatever.” he mumbled.
“Hey, that reminds me, I wanted to ask for your help for something.” Spot commented before turning to Astro.
“What is it?” she questioned more than happy to help.
“There’s a dance competition going on, but it’s for pairs and I was wondering if you’d like to do it with me. You’ve helped before so I figured, why not?” he responded.
“Sure, I’d love to.” she answered glad that he had thought of her.
Behind her he saw Kara making kissy motions. He glared and she laughed silently. Astro turned around in confusion. Kara stopped quickly and resumed her position just reclining happily on the beach. She turned back to him still not understanding what had happened. “Great, we can work out practice times later.” he answered smiling once more.
“Alright.” she answered still feeling concerned over what she had apparently missed.
“Don’t worry about it.” he told her noticing the slight frown on her face, “Somepony’s just being an idiot like always.”
“What? Me? Never!” Kara answered acting over dramatically hurt.
“No, never you.” he agreed sarcastically. She just laughed in response. “Anyways, glad you can do it. It’s going to be a lot of fun.” he finished.
