//------------------------------// // Cousin Arrives // Story: When My Cousin Came To Town // by Pixie Stick //------------------------------// "Good Morning, Manehatten" said Pixie Stick, waking up from a great sleep. The dark blue earth pony with short, spiky dark purple hair with a yellow streak through it rose from his bed. His hooves and his eyes perfectly matched the bright yellow highlight in the hair, not only for his mane but his tail as well. His cutiemark resembled a single piece of wrapped candy, covered in red and yellow striped paper for the candy wrapper. The first thing that Pixie Stick did was look at his calender. He suddenly remembered his favorite cousin, Lucky from Shireland, was coming to visit him in the big city. "Oh hey, would you look at that. My cousin is coming into town." said Pixie. As his memory clicked, had also recalled that his cousin would be there at noon. So Pixie started cleaning his house as fast as he could. After a few hours, the stallion had finished. The tables were spotless. The counter tops were sparkling. The soft, cushioned carpet floor was comfortable. Pixie Stick then looked at the clock; he still had another hour until Lucky arrived. "Huh. I have some spare time. I gonna go grab me some coffee." Pixie decided, his voice sounding tremendously exhausted. When he came back, Pixie saw that Lucky would be at his front door within minutes. However, ten minutes went by and no sign of Lucky. In that time frame, Pixie had dozed off. Then there was knocking at his door. Pixie was a light sleeper, so he heard the knock and jumped up and opened the front door. "I, if it isn't me little cousin Pixie." said Lucky, in an Irish accent. "Cousin Lucky! How was the ride?" asked Pixie surprised to see that his cousin looked the exact same as when he had last seen him 10 years ago. He still had the same light green coat, and dark green hair. Like Pixie's, it was short and spiky for both mane and tail, and instead of a yellow streak it had a red one. His cutiemark was a four-leaf clover. "The ride was great. I slept probably the whole time, though!" Lucky continued, "I see that you are living very nice. Nothing like home." "Yeah. I still miss all the lovely green pastures." Pixie sighed, remembering his old home in Shireland. "How's mom?" "She is doing great. Right now me mom just got out of the hospital. That's a wonderful. Me sis just got her cast off her leg. She still in the healing process, but I think she is ok." Lucky explained. "Ok, well, welcome to Manehattan. Hey, why don't I show you around?" Pixie suggested. So Pixie took Lucky on a tour of the town. They first stopped by where Pixie Stick worked at. Next, they went to one of the best coffee shops in Manehattan. Then they stopped buy Pixie's friend Plum Rose's candy store. "Hey, Plum!" Said Pixie, entering the candy store. "Pixie! How are ya' do'in?" Plum Rose, the light blue furred pegasus behind the counter, greeted. Her light pink and purple hair fit in with her personality as she was very bubbly and social. "This is my cousin from Shireland I've told you about." Pixie said, putting his hoof around Lucky's neck. "Lucky, isn't it?" Plum Rose said, trying to remember. Pixie Stick has a lot of cousins. "Yas! Ah'm Lucky! It eez a pleasure to meet a you!" The green pony said, reaching out to shake Plum's hoof. "Oh, it's nice to meet you too!" Plum returned. "Well, I just wanted to drop by and say 'hi'. I'm showing Lucky around to all of my friends!" Pixie explained. "'Ight." Plum replied, with a bunch of candy already in her mouth. Pixie took his cousin to meet Vanilla Mocha, another of Pixie Stick's friends. She is a white unicorn with cocoa brown hair. Later that night, Pixie took his cousin to one of the finest restaurants within Manehattan; the James Stable. "How's the food cousin?" asked Pixie, after swallowing his own take of dinner. "Delicious. This has to be one of the finest restaurant me eyes has ever seen. Cousin, you live in a wonderful city. Your friends are nice too. Although that Plum Rose seemed a little crazy." said Lucky. "She was sugar high. When she gets a load of candy she gets really hyper on the sugar within the candy. Sugar, high." explained Pixie. "Well we better head back to the apartment. It's getting pretty late." The Shirish accent began to get into Pixie's mind as he talked. "You're right. Me mind could use a little shut eye." agreed Lucky. When the two cousins returned to Pixie's apartment, Pixie showed Lucky the guest room, where the bed was filled with pillows and a heavy cozy blanket, made from Shireland. The lights from the street gleamed in dimly through the windows, with a slight glare from Princess Celestia's beautiful sunset. The sweet aroma was fresh and crisp for a prefect nights rest for Lucky. Soon both of of then were fast asleep as the night became alive.
