War on Harmony

The Armies Amass

POV Twilight

When we awoke the next morning, Spike received a letter from Princess Celestia informing us that the Captain of the Royal Guards was going to meet up with us and provide us with support during the battle. We all started looking around the castle ruins, deciding to pass the little free time that remained. As we explored I had this strange feeling that we were being watched.
'Its probably just a bird, mouse or lizard. Nothing to be afraid of.'
Spike was still reading that journal, which kinda upset me. So much ancient history could be in there and Spike was the only one who could understand its bizarre language. So I decided to ask him about some of the stuff that he was learning.
"So Spike, learn anything intresting or useful?" I inquired.
"Well, aparantly the prince had helped Celestia and Luna find the Tree of Harmony. He was present when both of them earned their cutie marks, and he was the only dragon at the time to fully embrace and accept the idea of ponies and dragons living together in harmony."
"Really?"
"Yeah... its a shame that his ideals died out."
"Yes it is, but we still have a dragon around that value his ideals."
"But Twilight, I was raised by ponies, I haven't been around dragons my whole life, so how can I truly be a dragon that's living peacefully with ponies?" he asked me.
But before I could respond a black coated Pegasus trotted up to me and I noticed that he was wearing the armor of Captain of the Royal Guard.
"Princess Twilight nice to meet you, Captain Joseph of the Royal Guard. Princess Celestia sent me and a squad of troops her to assist you and the other element bearers."
"Where are your men right now?" I asked.
"Outside preparing for battle, also each one of them has been trained to keep their wits about them and recognize their fellow soldier since as you already know that the changelings can take on the form of anypony." he replied.

POV Spike

As the day drew to a close, I saw everypony making final preparations for the battle that would unfold tomorrow. But I decided that I would keep reading Logan's journal to pass the time.

Today I'm sitting in the Canterlot Library and I'm feeling concerned for Luna. The past few months I've noticed that she seems slightly more bitter about things which include Celestia's sun and how much ponies value it. I always tell her that me and the dragons of the Desert Kingdom love and value her night and there are ponies that value the night. Anyway she's at the Castle of the Two Sisters and I'm going to go and talk to her. But before I do, I'm leaving my journal here in the library for anydragon who finds it. If the worst shall come then I'll leave it in its hiding place, if not then I will be back for it. As for Ruby's son/daughter I just wish to tell you that I sensed a strong magic within you as an egg and I know that you will go on to achieve some great feats. One last thing, there is a Dragirian history book that I suggest you read, although I suggest reading about the Warriors of Virtue. That information may save Equestria in the future. Signed The Desert Dragon Prince Logan.

I paused for a minute as I took it all in. His last entry, and he had planned to stash his journal no matter what outcome could come from confronting Luna, but of course anyone who knew Equestrian history knew how the confrontation ended. But who was this offspring of of the dragon Ruby that Logan mentioned? And where could I find he or she, that is if they're still alive. As the last rays of sunlight vanished and the night came, I took a moment to admire it. 'Those ponies don't know what their missing. Logan and those other dragons truly knew what to admire and besides I knew that Twilight admired Luna's night cause of her light night studies and she tells me about some particularly beautiful nights. As I laid down to go to sleep I knew that we had a big day ahead of us.
