//------------------------------// // The Challenge // Story: Pinkie's Trauma // by The Cosmic Consciousness //------------------------------// Pinkie Pie and her clones were issued a test, by Twilight to watch paint dry, and whoever didn't get distracted the longest got to stay with her friends. She wasn't sure how Twilight was going to remove her clones, probably going to ship them off to some island, where they can be themselves without annoying others. About 10 minutes after the challenge was issued, the clone in front of her got distracted and said "Oh hey look at the birdie!". Pinkie Pie could see the very pretty bird out of her peripheral vision, but she wasn't going to let it make her look away, she was going to continue looking straight ahe-her thoughts were cut short by a flash from Twilight's horn going to the clone in front of her, and the clone in front of her began to inflate until she looked like she was about to explode like a balloon, with her eyes bulging out, then she imploded in on herself, and became a string of energy that flew out a window. Pinkie was horrified at her sudden realization of what was going on, and what letting her focus slip for a second would mean. "Di-did Twilight just..." Pinkie had to keep up a straight face for her own survival, for if she let if falter, she would be gone in a second, and lose her friends forever. As one by one, her clones lost their focus and got shot by Twilight's spell, thoughts started to seep into Pinkie's mind. "What is the spell actually doing?" "Where are they going?" "Do they really deserve this?" "I have to speak up, do something to save the others." "But if I speak up, Twilight will blast me before I can get the first word out. She is on the lookout for any signs of weakness." "There has to be a better method of finding the real one than removing from existence who get distracted for a second." Pinkie's inner debate continued as she continued to watch the paint continue to dry, seeing Twilight's horn flash with the spell that she feared each time she saw it, it was directed at her. Each time it hits one of the others, all of them simply trying to lighten the mood of the situation from sudden death to something more comfortable with methods ranging from funny faces to hoof tricks, Pinkie internally screams in protest and in horror at this side of Twilight; the side that is willing to remove a being from existence without a thought, other than casting the spell, if they dared to step out of line. Pinkie dared to risk a few quick glances at the purple unicorn to see what this was doing to her, to see if Twilight was at all horrified or affected at what she's been doing; the purple unicorn simply stood there, watching them all with a smug face, as if she was enjoying it. Pinkie's eyes remained locked on the paint on the wall, which she was almost certain was dry by now. She hears Rainbow Dash announce somepony was making balloon animals. Under normal circumstances, Pinkie would've jumped out of excitement, but she was paralyzed by fear if she let herself look away; she managed to not look away, but just barely. Twilight cast the spell, removing another clone from the world. Twilight stepped in front of Pinkie and told she was the only one left. Pinkie trusted her friend, so she looked around and saw she was indeed the only one left. She couldn't look at the unicorn right now, she was still too scared of her and what she had done. The six mares and one dragon walked to Sugarcube Corner, and on the way, Pinkie continued her thoughts in silence. "What just happened? I know I made it through, but at what cost? I need some alone time to think." Pinkie just wanted to have some time by herself and her thoughts, but she didn't want to worry her friends at the same time. When they finally made it to Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie pretended to pass out in the doorway; knowing her friends, minus Twilight (who she was no longer sure she knew anymore after her committing genocide on the clones), they would take her up to her bed in her apartment and let her sleep.
