//------------------------------// // Awakening // Story: In League with the Legends // by MLPfan438 //------------------------------// (Equestria, Present Day) That’s 574,875 times that the sun has risen. That was the first thought that went through my mind. The second thought to go through my head wasn’t my own. Well good morning, sleeping beauty, the voice said in a sarcastic tone, starting your monologue already. Morning to you too Discord, I replied with equal derision. Well somepony sure is grumpy today, he replied with a hint of a chuckle on his voice. Having to stare at your ugly mug for 1575 years will do that to a girl, I said, only to find myself laughing when he replied, fine, be that way. He gave me a funny look, or at least I think he would have if we weren’t both statues. What’s got you in such a good mood? he asked. You’ll see in about an hour or so, I replied with a hit of mystery in my voice. Okay, now you have my attention, he said in a puzzled tone, what is it that you know that I don’t? The train just pulled into the station, I said in a matter of fact tone, I heard the whistle. It’s around 10:00 o’clock in the morning judging by the position of the sun in the sky, I continued. Plus I heard the guards say that a class was coming here from Ponyville for a school trip today, I concluded. I already know all of that, he replied, and I know it isn’t just about the little ones. So I’ll ask again, he said in a serious tone, what don’t I know? Three of them are our key to escape, I said with excitement in my voice, and the names of those wonderful little fillies are Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo. Okay you lost me, he said with a confused tone, how are three little fillies supposed to break the seal cast on us by the elements of harmony? When they get here, I said, those three are going to get into an argument. That argument will escalate into a fight, and the disharmony created from that fight will give you the power you need to break free of the spell. How could you possibly know any of that? he asked me, and don’t give me any of that magic crap, I know you don’t have the ability to see the future. In a manner of speaking I do, I said in a neutral tone. Stop speaking so damn cryptic, he said impatiently, and just tell me how you know that. Seriously Discord, you already forgot my back-story, I answered with a hit of annoyance in my voice, I told you all of this three times in the past 1000 years. Fine, I’ll tell you the story again. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (Earth, 1575 year ago) “I can’t believe I let you talk me into this Samantha,” I said to my best friend as we walked into the convention. We had known each other since high school, where we were on in the video gaming club together. We bonded over the game League of Legends, together with our other friends Will, James, and DJ. We were a next to unstoppable team with DJ in top lane, Samantha in the jungle, Me in middle lane, Will in bottom lane as the attack damage carry or ADC for short, and James in the bottom lane as the support. “I didn’t hear you complaining when I told you about the plan,” she said with a smirk. “That’s because I thought the guys would be coming with us,” I said with a frown, “This Syndra costume doesn’t leave much to the imagination.” “I’m dressed as Akali and you don‘t hear me complaining,” she quipped. “That’s because you like dressing like a slut,” I retorted. “Ouch,” I said as she punched me in the arm. “Lets just start looking around,” she said while glancing around the massive hall. “How about we start at the vendor stalls over by the food court,” I said. No sooner then the words had left my mouth did I relies that I had made my first mistake. Sitting over in the food court, at one of the back tables, was a group of just guys in League of Legends costumes. Their costumes were really good, and their was no way Samantha wasn’t going to see them. As if on cue, she said, “You can go look at the merchandise, I’m going to the food court to check out those guys.” “Of course you are,” I said sarcastically. “Just try and stay out of trouble, and if you do manage to pick one of them up,” I paused as a strange necklace at one of the booths catching my eye, “text me or something.” “Okay Melira, I’ll catch up with you later,” she said before turning and making her way over to the food court. “See you Sam,” I yelled, before turning and walking over to the booth with the strange necklace on it. As I got closer to the table I could make out the necklace a little better. It was a pendent in the shape of a hourglass. It was about 3 inches tall and about 1 inch in diameter. What really threw me off was that the parts of the hourglass that are usually made of glass seemed to be made up of red gem stones that looked a lot like rubies, the rest was made of gold. “I see that the Ruby Hourglass has caught your eye,” said the salesman. “It’s quite beautiful but sadly it’s probably way out of my price range,” I said without taking my eyes off of it. I couldn’t quite describe the feeling I was getting from it but I swear I could see it glowing faintly, which only made me want it even more. “It’s only $1500 dollars, but I’ll give it to you for $1200 dollars if you pay with cash,” he said with a sly grin that I failed to notice. That would be all the cash I planned on spending at the convention and if I saw anything else I’d be shit out of luck. Then again if I ever get tired of it I could probably find some sap willing to buy it for double that amount. “You’ve got a deal,” I said as I reached into the pouch on my left hip, that I had added to the costume, to grab my money. He looked on in joy as I counted out the amount that he had specified. After I handed him the cash and he counted it to make sure it was all there he handed me the Ruby Hourglass. “Why don’t you try it on?” he asked me. “I have a mirror here that you can use,” he said as he set a small free-standing mirror on the table. “Why not,” I replied. As I slipped the gold chain around my neck and hook the clasp the rubies in the hourglass started to glow. I started to feel a strange energy flow through me. “What the hell!” I shouted as I tried in vain to undo the clasp. “Don’t bother,” he said as he watched me struggle, “Once the Ruby Hourglass finds a home around somebody’s neck, it can never be removed. Oh and don’t bother calling for help, no one here can see or here you anymore.” I looked back in shock as a vortex appeared behind me. As it started to pull me in I heard him say, “goodbye.” Then he started laughing and reach out, pushing me through the portal, and then I blacked out. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (Equestria, Present Day) Well, while that explains how you got here and where you got that pendent from, It still doesn’t tell me where your from, how that hourglass works, or how you know that three fillies are going to enable me to break free, nor does it tell me how you plan to escape. First, the name of the planet I’m from is earth, and second, the Ruby Hourglass allows me to transform into different champions from a video game that existed on my home world. Each of the gem stones in it holds a magical charge, three stones equals three charges. Transforming uses one of the items stored charges, meaning once I’m out of charges I can’t transform again until I gain another. The charges refresh on a 24 hour cycle, one charge recovered every 24 hour, meaning it takes three days for the hourglass to completely recharge. As per how I know about the three fillies, it’s a long story that we don’t have time for right now. Their class is walking towards us right now and I still need to tell you my plan of escape. But don’t worry, I’ll explain the whole future knowledge thing another time. Okay, so what is your escape plan?, he asked. My escape plan is simple, once your free your going to use your chaos magic to drive a wedge between the bearers of the elements of harmony. Why? If you break the bonds of friendship that connect them, than you sever their bonds to the elements. When you do that the element will lose their power, just like when Celestia had to banish Luna. When the elements lose their power Celestia’s little magic seal will be the only thing left to keep me stuck like this, and at my power level it will be simple to undo. Why didn’t you just break the seal when she banished Luna? he asked me. I didn’t break the seal back then because I was still recovering from getting hit with the elements. Besides theirs a certain mare that wasn’t born yet, who’s help I’m going to need if I’m ever going to get home. What about me, Discord wined, won’t you need my help too? I’ll need both of you, and possibly Celestia and Luna as well. So be a dear and don’t shatter any of their minds until after I’m on my way home. You have my word, now lets sit back and see this little fight of yours. Right on cue, I said as the three fillies started fighting. I can already feel the power flowing through me, Discord said, I guess you were right after all. As the group walked away, the stone surrounding Discord started to break, and shattered once they were out of ear shot. He walked up to me and said, “time for me to keep my end of the bargain, but after this we’re even.” He gave a quick bow and then he snapped his fingers and he was gone. Perfect, I thought to myself, Now all I have to do is wait for the bonds to break and I can ditch the stone body suit. It didn’t take long to notice the cotton candy clouds and the chocolate milk rain. As soon as it started Princess Celestia showed up it the garden. Upon not seeing Discord she gasped, and ran back inside to send for Twilight and the other element. Soon after they arrived, they got the speech from Celestia and the challenge from Discord. I watched with glee as they went into the maze only to have Discord separate them right from the start. It wasn’t long before Rainbow Dash was flying off and the maze disappeared. I was privileged to see Discord’s victory dance in person. After that he gave Twilight the final clue she needed to solve his riddle. As soon as the remainder of the elements left Canterlot to return to Ponyville, I started to gather up my energy. I only get one shot at this, I thought to myself. Then it happened, the moment I’d waited over 1500 years for, Twilight lost faith in the elements. At that moment I unleashed my built up magical energy, shattering both the seal and the stone holding me. As the full extent of my power started to return to me I started to float about a foot off the ground. “Now all I need to do is find a way out of Canterlot,” I said to myself, “I can’t risk using my teleport spell, it’s far to easy to track. I’ve got it, while Celestia and Luna know about Syndra they’ve never seen Kayle. The last thing they would expect is for me to fly away.” As I activated the Ruby Hourglass to enable the transformation, I heard Luna’s Voice coming from the castle. She was ordering her guards to follow her, and her voice was getting closer. The sky changed from night to day just as I finished my transformation. I spread my wings and took off, using the sun and the clouds as cover to keep the Princess of the night and her guards from spotting me. As I flew off towards the Everfree Forest, I heard her shout “She’s escaped from Tia’s spell, rally the guard, we must warn Celestia at once.” “What’s the matter Princess Luna?” the captain of her night guard asked. “Discord is the least of our problems now,” Luna said as she galloped towards the castle.
