//------------------------------// // The End // Story: The end of Father Night // by EverlastingKnightmare //------------------------------// Today, it’s just wrong.... [So you feel it to hmm?] {Your telling me....} I sat up in my bed and looked out the window. A storm was coming, and it was not made by hooves. “What it wrong about today?” I got off my bed and walked out the door to be stopped by the Keeper. “Oh hey bro, whats up?” He had such a blank look on his face, it scared me. “Our time is coming... We don’t have long.” I started at him blankly and sighed. “I should have known...” [Wait what the fuck? What’s going on?] {There is a day for all immortals when they die, and it just so happens today is our last day here...} [] {Sorry guys... I’v know this for the longest time now and never told you.... Possibly because I never thought it would happen....} [It’s........It’s alright man, I suppose you were just trying not to get us to flip out....] {Yes, We have........about 20 minutes.} [Wow, that sucks. Don’t even have enough time go go drinking!] {Well, let’s go tell the family...} I walked past the Keeper. “How you going to spend your time?” I asked him as I passed. “What I always do, watch Nighty and write one last thing.” He sighed. “I’ll see you on the balcony.” I nodded and walked out onto the balcony. My horn glowed and Celestia, Luna, Nighty, and Fleetwood appeared before me. Fleetwood looked a bit pissed but when he saw my face he looked a bit concerned. “Um, dad? What’s wrong?” Celestia asked walking over to me. “It’s time I told you all something, I’m leaving.” Fleetwood took a step forward. “What like a road trip? Want me to get the car?” I smiled lightly and shook my head. “No, I mean I’m....” I looked at Nighty, she had wide eyes full of fear about what I was going to say. “I’m dieing.” Ah silence, my worst enemy. [Heh, even that’s saying goodbye...] “What are you saying?” Luna then stepped forward. “You can’t die.” She glared at me. “Is this some sorta joke?” I shook my head with a slight smile. “You know me, only when I have poison joke am I telling a joke, and I don’t.” I took a deep breath. “Now to tell you, for all those upper class immortals there is a day that their power and immortality fails and they loss their life. I’m happy that wont happen to any of you.” I sighed happily and looked at all the stunned faces. “Now I have about 15 minutes before the Keeper and I fad away. So I just want you to all know how much I love you all.” I was suddenly hug tackled by Nighty, not falling over but pushed back a bit. I put a hoof around her, tears on the brim of my eyes. “Celestia, you were a grate daughter, you took your mothers job with no problem what so ever and kept it up for thousands of years, with no complaints what so ever, and even when your sister went a bit nuts you had no complaints with the moon ether.” She was crying lightly when I finished. She walked over and hugged me. I then looked at Luna. I was now crying lightly. “Luna, baby girl I loved rasing you, you were the first child I ever rose, and I loved every second of it. Now when I’m gone I want you to help raise Nighty for me with Fleetwood. ouf!” She charged up and hugged me as well. I looked at Fleetwood. I was now crying a river. “Fleetwood, I never really like you, not in the beginning anyway, but you got the heart of my little Lulu and for that I’m happy, you can love and comfort her for what ever happens, when I’m long gone, you will be king, Luna your Queen, and Nighty the little princess. I hope that you just don’t fuck anything up.” I laughed a bit, Fleetwood was lightly crying with a half glare. “The fuck’s wrong with you? Leaving like this? This will hurt more then anything for you kids! It’s not fair to them that you leave and it’s not fair to your kingdom, the best king they ever had and he is just up and leaving!” His horn glowed lightly. “I’ll make you pay before you leave.” I laughed lightly and moved the kids out of the way. “Go right ahead. I deserve every bit of your rage.” He blasted me with with a lot of force of energy. I flew back and hit the railing of the balcony. It cracked lightly. He blasted me one more time before stopping. The pain was almost enough for what I’m doing. [That hurt like a mother fuck...] {Nice one...} He walked up to me and grabbed my neck, delivering a punch to my face. “What? Can’t fight back? COME ON!” He punched me again and again and again, each one getting lighter. I felt tears on my chest and looked up at him, crying a bit heavily. I reached my hooves up and pulled him into a hug. “Your the best stepson I have ever had, and your the only one I had, and I’m glad it was you...” I let him go and walked back to the middle of the balcony, the Keeper walking out of the door. [2 minutes,] {Eeyup, had to do it one last time.} “Hey,” I said to him as he took a seat next to me. Nighty hug tackled me again. “Please don’t go daddy! Please! Who’s going to take me to school and make be breakfast?! Who’s going to tuck me in at night and read me a story?! Who’s going to us all camping again? Please don’t go! We can’t live without you.” I picked her up and brought her into a hug. “Don’t worry baby girl, your brother-in-law will do all that for you, so will Luna and Celestia. You don;t have to worry about it one bit, and besides! I’ll be watching over you all, and anytime you need me, just look up at the stars. A warm breeze will be a kiss to your cheek, the suns warmth will be my hug’s to you, and the time of twilight will be me telling you a story, telling you about all the times I almost exploded and everything! So don’t you cry baby girl, I’ll always be there for you.” I set her down and she back up, crying her little eyes out. “Come stop your crying it will be alright, Just take my hand, hold it tight, I will protect you from, all around you I will be here, Don’t you cry.” I chocked out as I started to evaporate, it started from the bottom up. “Always remember...” I muttered as it got up to my neck. “I love you all...” ---third person view--- The dark swirling dust that was Father Night flouted there a moment then flew off into the sunset, as did the gray dust that was the Keeper. Luna, Celestia, and Nighty were crying like no tomorrow, Fleetwood was holding Luna, watching the remains of the two immortals fly away. “You know what?” He muttered to himself. “We won’t forget anything about you. Ever....”
