"Khan! Thank Celestia you are alright! What happened?" said Spirit as they ran up
The scene spoke for itself. Guards lay around wounded and battered while others fired through a open doorway. Khan shook his head, the heavy Armor he was wearing had fallen off and the parts that were still on him were hanging just barely.
"We met a mix of Soldiers and turned Guards. It was hell Spirit."
"All these ponies are wounded from the fight?" asked Armor as he walked up
"All these Guard were freed of their mind control and are recovering. We won, but it was heavy fighting. I got a few out in the fight but those Diamond Dogs stole a few ballista's and a cannon and we can't get out there without getting hit."
"Tell me Doctor, why are you not a Guard?" asked Armor
Khan smiled at the comment as Armor looked out to asses the situation. As he did he saw a green barrier protecting several Diamond Dog solders from the Pony attacks as they fired their own crossbows and tried to aim their larger weapons. The barrier itself was being projected by a staff a small Diamond Dog was wielding.
"We got a magic staff protecting the Diamond Dogs, nothing much else. Keep on the attack, we need to keep them distracted for the Princesses." said Armor
"Princesses!? What are they doing?"
"I have no idea." said Armor
"Ponies! Came the voice of Lord Rex, "We accept will accept your terms of surrender!"
"What!?" came the union call from the Guard
"Cease fire, cease fire!" yelled Armor
"We will accept your surrender now and we want gemsies!"
"What are you talking about...er,-" tried Armor
"Lord Rex sir." said Spirit
"Lord Rex."
"We have two Guards hostage and are willing to accept your terms!"
They looked again to see Captain Shadow landing inside the shield with David, the latter of whose wing was clearly broken and he was defeated. As they landed, David made a break for Lord Rex, but was quickly restrained when a soldier lassoed his broken wing and he fell down.
"Owe!" yelled David
"Captain Shadow! What is the meaning of this!" yelled Armor
"I can't control myself Armor!" yelled Shadow
"It's true sir! She can't! She can talk just fine though!"
"How?" asked confused Flower
"Uh, long story!" yelled David
"Stupid Ponies!" laughed Rex, "It takes a massive force and emotion to break the spell! This pony is still under my control in body, and I will order her to kill this Sergeant and herself slowly."
"Emotion you say?" asked Armor, "Hmm....... Sergeant! can you hear me!?"
"Loud and clear sir!" yelled David
This was followed by a yelp of pain from David, who promptly kicked the Soldier who was holding his broken wing.
"Sergeant! I need you to say something to the Captain that will bring allot of emotion to her! It needs to be quick and fast or it may not work!"
"Uh, ok!" yelled David before turning to Shadow, "Captain Shadow, will you marry me?"
"What!?" asked Shadow
"What?" asked Rex
"WHAT!?" asked just about every Guard who was listening
"What?" asked David, "It was short notice! It work?"
Shadow tried to move her body, but it was met by a slap to David's face.
"It didn't work."
"Awe come on!" yelled David, "Now I gotta live with that!"
"Lord Rex sir!" came a raspy voice from behind
Rex, David, and Shadow turned to see the Diamond Dog that David and Spirit interrogated climb up over the edge holding a bag in his hands.
"Me have tiny baby Pony for food!"
"Let me see!" said Rex
The Diamond Dog removed the bag to show Filly, who had long since passed out from the fear she was going through, or the Dog knocked her out, or she was dead. Shadow and David looked on in fear and shock as Filly hung from her tail. As the Diamond Dogs laughed, Shadow felt her strength return to her as the emotion swept through and she regained control of her body.
"Unhand her!" she yelled
In a instant she smashed the Diamond Dog off the edge of the balcony and grabbed Filly. The scream of the Diamond Dog filled the air with it's piercing sound until it stopped with a low thud a few seconds later. As Shadow held Filly in her hooves David looked to see Rex starring in utter confusion and quickly bucked the staff out of his hands, breaking it.
"NOW!" he yelled
"Go go go!" yelled Armor
The Guards rushed the Diamond Dog soldiers, a few of the Guards taking a ballista shot and going down, three taking a cannon ball, but they pressed on, helping their wounded comrades back to cover while others poured in. Rex leaped back with his few remaining soldiers as the Pony Guards moved in, but Rex still had a ace up his sleeve. He pulled out a green orb and held it up and the Guard were mesmerized by it, even the ones who had taken the antidote. It was a regular emerald infused by the very potion itself, and the Guard were powerless to stop it. Shadow landed next to David holding Filly, but he was quick to shield her and Filly from its effects even as he himself was starting to come under it's control. Even Shining Armor bean to feel it's effects and slowly stopped what he was doing. Rex laughed as he held it up high as the storm seemed to clear. As the entire Guard started to come under his control he knew the Princesses wouldn't see this coming and his plan was going to work. He may have lost nearly his entire pack and the dragons, but he was going to rule all of Equestria!
Near the back of the Guard lines stood a skinny little female Guard Unicorn who was doing her hardest to avoid the effects of the gem. Starlight shook her head, nearly to the point of collapse at it's power. As other Guards started to fall to its effects, she fought it. All her energy seemed to be transferring to her horn and it glowed intensely. Almost none noticed until with a flash, she fired a bolt with all her power, sending a bolt of magic right toward the orb shattering it right out of Rex's hands. Starlight looked on as the Guard returned to normal. As he looked on in horror as the Guard moved into the kill, Flower coughed to clear his throat.
"Uh, look behind you." the Corporal said
Rex and his Soldiers looked behind him to see both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna starring him in the face. They appeared through a massive hole in the storm that itself seemed to bend to their combined power. The Guards lowered their heads partly out of respect, and partly out of fear at the wrath the Diamond Dogs had wrought upon themselves and looked down. Well, most were looking down.
"Hey look at that, the sun and the moon up at the same time." said David looking past the Royal Alicorns.
"Well dear sister," said Luna, "Plan 9?"
"Plan 9." agreed Celestia
Rex barely had time to scream before he and his solders were zapped from existence it seemed.
"What the?" asked a Guard, "You send them to the moon?"
"Why would we send them to our beloved moon?" asked Luna as they walked past
"Oh." said the same Guard
"I think it's best we don't know." said another
"Yes, now for the time being, I think we all need some rest." said Celestia looking over her Royal Guard, "You have served well Royal Guard. History will remember this for generations to come."
"Does that mean we can go back to bed know?" whispered Charger
"Yes Charger." whispered back a flatton Crescent, "We can go back to bed now."
