Chapter 3: A First Entry
The sound of a door creaking echoed through the treehouse as Twilight and Spike arrived at home from their recent and interesting visit with the Princess in Canterlot.
"See Twilight? Much safer than flying, and about as fast too!" Said Spike as he rushed inside.
"Ya, I guess that was a little better Spike" Twilight yawned as she entered the room closing the door behind her. "But kind of tiring too."
Twilight took off her saddle bag and layed it on the table in the centre of the room then opened it up and levitated the Diary in front of her. After a few good looks she glanced over at Spike who was smiling back at her and out of curiosity she sat down at her desk and flipped to the first page.
Twilight began to read out loud to spike who was cleaning up breakfast from that morning.
"Dear diary" Read Twilight. But just as she began to read, the pages started to glow a dark purple haze and before Twilight could look away, she found herself in an old castle that looked very familiar. She was standing in the middle of a long hallway with brick walls and doors along the sides.
"How in Equestria did I get here? Wherever.. Here is." Whispered the now confused pony.
"But Tia, I don wanna go to schoowow. I wanna stay heaw wif you.." Came the voice of a filly from inside one of the rooms inside the hallway. This immediately caught Twilight's attention so she began walking in the direction of the voice.
"Luna." Began another voice that sounded just a bit older than the other. "It'll be fun. You will meet other fillies just like you and make lots of friends. Trust me little sister, you will enjoy it."
"But, what if they don like me. What if they find me weiwd, they might waf at me."
"Nopony is going to laugh at you Luna. I know it's scary, even I once went to school for my first time. I thought all of the things you are thinking right now and more but once I got there I really liked it, I always have. Now what do you say we start heading over there right now?"
Twilight peaked her head into the doorway to see two Alicorns talking. The younger one had a dark blue mane and a dark purple coat and was wearing a saddle bag with the icon of a moon on the centre of it, and the older one stood proud with a pink mane that seemed to flow in the wind and a pure white coat with a cutie mark that resembled the sun. It was Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, only much younger.
"This must be their old castle.. The one they shared until it was destroyed by Nightmare Moon 1000 years ago." Whispered Twilight quietly to herself as she watched and listened to the conversation.
"Can't I stay heaw a wittow wonger?"
"Luna Listen, every pony has to go to school, even you as a princess"
Luna looks at her big sister, her look is that of despair and fear. "But, but they wiw make fun of me because I'm diffwent."
As the filly Luna made that statement a stallion had entered the room passing right by Twilight as if she wasn't there.
"Well Luna, let's get you off to school."
Luna was a bit shocked as she heard the voice of her dad, the stallion was wearing what was for Twilight, old armour, but it was the kings armour in those times.
"But Daddy.." Complained Luna hoping it would some how change his mind.
"Listen sweetie, school is something every pony needs to do. Whether you like it or not you still need to go."
Luna's ears dropped as she looked down at the floor. "Okay, woona wiw go to scoowow.."
Luna took her favorite doll from her bed and put it in her saddle bag then walked up beside her father. She stood there for a moment nervously then looked up at her father with a question.
"Is it weawy going to be fine Daddy?"
The stallion looked down at Luna then glanced up at her older sister giving a weak smile, one that simulates a question without words. Without delay Celestia chuckles then nods in understanding before she walks out of the room to wait outside.
"You know.." He closes the door behind him while remaining inside the room. "Keep this a secret from your sister, I don't think she would want you to know this, but do you want to know where I've heard those exact words from before?"
"Mhmm." Sounds Luna nervously but excited as if she is going to hear a great secret.
"From your sister." The colt opens the door just enough for Luna to see her sister. "And now look at her." Luna peers out of the crack in the door watching Celestia scan through one of her books levitated infront of her by her magic. The action is one that Twilight always does when she is reading a good book, or literally any book. "Does it seem like she doesn't like going to school?"
Luna looks at her dad then peers back at Celestia through the door crack. "Tia?" Luna speaks through the crack, one eye can be seen looking at Celestia along with half of her nose and mouth. Celestia smiles and sets down her book.
"Yes Luna?"
"Do you wike schoowow?"
"Of course Luna, I love it!" Celestia picks up her book with her magic and wanders off to her room with it to put it away. Luna looks back at her dad.
"Tia wikes schoowow daddy."
"So what do you think that means Luna?"
"I think It means, Woona should wike schoowow too."
"That's right sweety, now lets go get you to school." The stallion opens the door the rest of the way about to exit the room but stops when Luna calls him.
"Daddy?"
He looks back at his daughter who is walking up beside him again. "Yes?"
"Do you think I wiw ever get pwivate magic wessons wif mommy wike Tia does?"
The stallion smiles. "Of course Luna."
"Okay daddy." The two leave the room to go to school.
Twilight stands there for a few seconds in thought. "Wait, thats the king? I wonder why I haven't seen him in any pictures." Twilight quickly takes notice that Luna and the King are almost out of view so she begins to run after them. Moments later as Twilight is trying to catch up, her vision begins to alter. A purple smoke starts filling the castle at an increasing rate making her surroundings incredibly hard to see, and soon she can't see a thing. The blinding smoke does not last long, in the blink of an eye the smoke is gone and Twilight is standing in another room she has seen before.
"Okay class, settle down." Says a mare who is standing at the front of the room.
Twilight begins to tense up and her breathing accelerates. "T-this is my old class.. T-this is.. M.. Magic Kinder garden!"
The teacher speaks up. "Settle down please!" She then stomped her hoof against the ground a few times and all the fillies sat in there seats, but two of them were empty.
"Today we have a new student! Please be kind to her." The teacher opens the classroom door and in walks Celestia. The room stood silent for a few seconds until one student spoke up.
"Isn't she a little old?"
Celestia looks confused to the question until she looked down at her side and noticed Luna wasn't there. "Luna. Get in here."
"Fine.." Came a reply from outside the classroom just before she walked in looking at the floor with her ears down.
"This is Luna," Began the teacher. " A soon to become Princess"
"Well going to be anyway" Said Celestia.
The teacher giggles, and nods. "Yes, that's right. Class, this is Luna, soon to be the princess of this land. Please be nice to her, and Luna?"
Luna shyly looked up at the teacher, her ears still down. "Yes Ms.."
The teacher politely cut her off. "Mis. Joy."
"Oh.. Okay. Yes Mis. Joy?"
"Here in this classroom we always ask newcomers one special question, it's a classroom tradition."
Luna gave the teacher a look of confusion. "A cwasswoom Tadishion?"
Mis.Joy quickly noticed Luna's speech impedament and found it adorable. "Yes! A classroom Tradition. Please tell the class your name and what your wish for the future is."
Luna looks at all the young fillies and colts. "um.." She looks back at Celestia who gives her a reassuring smile. "I.. M-my name is Woona. It's a, pweasure to meet you awl." Some of the ponies giggle causing Luna to look at Celestia once more then she uses her magic to tug Celestia's mane gently in her direction. Celestia gets the signal and goes up to stand next to Luna.
"So what do you wish for the future?" Asks Mis.Joy.
"Woona wishes for awl ponies to be happy." Replied Luna.
"Well Luna that is such a great wish, and we all wish for you to be happy too!"
Luna smiles and after glancing at Celestia once more she makes her way to her desk and sits down.
"Goodbye Luna, I will be back after class to pick you up." Celestia begins leaving the room but just before she passes through the door she glances in Twilight's direction nervously, almost as if staring into her eyes. Confused, Twilight looked behind her to see if anything would have caught Celestia's eye. Not seeing anything she looked down at Luna who still looked nervous and was looking at the other students around her.
"Okay class! Time for attendance!" Began Mis.Joy. As she read out the names the fillies and colts answered. "Golden Ring, Green Ozone, Tree Tap, Apple Smith," soon she got to Luna's name. "Luna?"
Immedatly as her name was said the familiar purple smoke began to flood the room and in a second Twilight was back in her library with spike calling out to her.
"Twilight!" Yelled spike who was standing an inch away from Twilight.
Twilight looked around her room to find that some of the purple smoke was still in her vision so she closed her eyes and shook her head and the smoke was gone.
