Velvet grew up under the care of her father, she was to never leave the caves without an adult around but all of the other young fillies and colts of the clan envied her for she got first rights too many things like food, and other great things. Even when she asked to go outside, the adults refused promising that she could later, but that never came. One night Velvet had enough of the lies from the adults, let alone from her own father. Fetching a black cloak, putting it on, than closing her dairy softly she left her alcove while hiding from the guards or anyone else who would try to spot her. After about a couple of minutes Velvet came to the mouth of the cave, in the distance she saw lights of a town, a town full of ponies that were celebrating the Spring Sunrise. Velvet couldn’t help but fly down to the little town that was far below, as she neared the town the sounds of dancing, music, and laughter filled Velvet’s ears, and smile crossed the young princess’s face. Velvet landed without a sound, looking around in excitement, with big eyes of joy. A young white colt with a simple gray mane/tail spotted Velvet as she was looking around with a smile on her face, he thought he should get to know her or at least her name. “Excuse me?” asked the white colt. “Who are you?” “Hello…” Velvet greeted with fear in her voice. “I’m Velvet Twilight. Who are you?” “I’m Moon Gaze or just Gaze. Nice to meet you Velvet Twilight. Is this your first in here in Blackhoof?” “It’s nice to meet you too, Gaze. Please just call me Velvet. By the way yes it is.” “Would you like me to show you around?” “Yes, please.” -------------- King Moon Dawn was headed for his daughter’s alcove to check up on her, and he also had a surprise for her too. He was going to his little Velvet to the little town of Blackhoof. “Velvet, I have surprise for you.” Dawn said as entered his daughter’s alcove looking around but he couldn’t find Velvet anywhere in the alcove. “Velvet?” That when he came to the conclusion that his daughter might be somewhere else in the cave, he called for his daughter personal guard. “Starlight Wing come here please.” “Yes, Sir?” Starlight asked, coming in room. Starlight had been Velvet’s guard since the death of Queen Black Star, but yet since the young princess wasn’t here Starlight immediately got worried. “Have you seen Velvet anywhere?” “No, sir.” “Where could she be?” “I don’t know, but I think that she might be at Blackhoof right now. I’ll go check.” Starlight with fear, clearly visible in her eyes and voice. “I’ll alert the rest of the guards.” Starlight waited for the king to leave the room, before looking around on the princess’s desk. She remembered seeing Velvet write in her dairy earlier that night. Opening the dairy to the marked page, then began to read the last entry written within its pages. “Dear Dairy, I think it’s time for me to get out and into the world that has been kept away from me for many years. I’m going out into a world I’ve only heard of in stories. A world of normal ponies, maybe they’re not like n the stories; mean, viscous, and feared enemies of the Vamponies. I am going to that little town, I think it’s called Blackhoof, and if anypony thinks of looking for me, than stop. No one needs to endanger themselves. Not Daddy, nor you Starlight you’re great friend and sister to me but this is my choice. You always said that ‘No matter what choice that you make, I’ll always respect it.’ So please, respect this choice of mine. ~ Velvet Twilight” Starlight understood now why Velvet wasn’t here, she really was at Blackhoof, knowing Velvet had made choice; to go off on her into the outside world, to see what she could to see out there. I know I’m supposed to be with Velvy, but she is right…. She made her choice now I must respect it. Good Luck Velvet. -------------- Velvet was walking Gaze through the small town of Blackhoof, this small town so lively, cheerful, and warm but yet many little ponies just Gaze’s age were staring at the filly in question. Just when thing couldn’t get worse, one colt with green eyes, a black coat, a blue mane/tail and a cutie mark of a red heart tripped Velvet causing the princess to fall onto her belly. The others laughed at Velvet but Gaze that this colt was trouble for Velvet but she didn’t pay tripper of a colt on mind. “Hey, you! Yeah you, new filly… Where did you come from a trash can?” Gaze glared at the black colt while saying, “You know, Hoof Heart, it’s not nice to hurt others when they don’t need it.” Gaze helped Velvet to her hooves, she shook herself off and turned to face the colt who was known as Hoof Heart. “That wasn’t very nice you know.” “Oh, look the Trash Filly can talk.” “I am not a Trash Filly… And you better watch what you say.” “Why should I? What are you, a princess?” “Actually…” Velvet said using her magic to take off her cloak revealing her wings as she spread them out wide for all to see. “Yes.” The other young fillies and colts were shocked to see an alicorn princess standing before them, Gaze was the first to recover from shock bowing in respect. The others fallowed Gaze’s example, bowing to her as to beg for forgiveness including Hoof Heart. Instead of a hash, snapping voice they heard a soft, gentle one. “Please, rise.” Velvet said with a bright smile, as everypony looked her way rising to their hooves. “Were did you come from?” “Why are your eyes red?” “Why are you here?” Question after question was asked which Velvet happily answered, all except one; “What are you?” When they asked ‘Why?’ Velvet politely said it was personal. Suddenly Velvet picked up the scent of a vampony, a stallion thinking quickly Velvet looked for a place to hide. Gaze and the other young fillies and colts caught onto the scent, only to find themselves fleeing to find places to hide too. Gaze heard barely a sound when the pony landed the boxes that he was hiding in, not too far from Velvet, who was hiding with a rain water cylinder. Gaze couldn’t help take a peek out of his hiding spot, there he saw a guard, he looked like Velvet, only without the horn. Than another guard appeared, a mare this time… Gaze spotted the mare’s cutie mark, it was the light of tiny stars shining their light down on a vampony wing. The stallion spoke up in a firm tone. “Were do you think she’d be Starlight Wing?” “Will you shut up, Talon Wind? I’m trying to listen for her you stupid, idiotic, son of a guard. Now shut up!!! Or I’ll send you back to the caves, where you should be.” “The others have already searched the rest of this dump these ponies call a ‘town’…” “FOR THE LOVE OF QUEEN BLACK STAR, TALON… SHUT UP!!! YOU KEEP SEARCHING FOR THE PRINCESS OR I’LL STRIP YOU OF YOUR RANKS FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY YOU QUIT!!!! NOW, WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE?” Talon fell silent, beginning to start searching again. “That’s what I thought, Talon.” Starlight said raging fire behind her eyes, turning to the cylinder thinking that this was the last time that she would look in one of those again, hoping to find Velvet and hug her. But if she did find Velvet she would have to take her back to her father, and… and… ‘No, Velvet earned and deserves her freedom by leaving the cave… If I do find her I will lie about not finding her, but I’ll be blamed for it. I don’t care if I get blamed for not bringing Velvet home, it’s for the best.’ There came whimpering from the cylinder, a sound Starlight had heard before it was Velvet, she w,as scared out of her wits. Starlight caught the scent of the king on the wind looking in the direction of the caves they called home, Starlight saw King Moon Dawn coming her way and he wasn’t happy. Velvet knew her father was here, and to only make things worse there were two more ponies accompanying him, her blood ran cold. Those three ponies she hadn’t seen them before… but yet when they spoke their seemed eerily familiar. “Dawn, how could your own daughter run away like this? She has responsibilities to uphold… my son…” “Yes Mother?” “Try to find the Princess, Star Streak.” “Of course, Mom.” To Velvet’s mind, ‘Oh, great if they find me I’m toast… Oh, Velvet calm down. Firstly, there’s a mare and colt here along with my father, and in Moon’s name who else is here too. Secondly, I need to get out of here but, I can’t afford to be seen while doing so. Thirdly, what if I get caught by that colt… what was his name, oh yeah, Star Streak. I’ll have to go back home…’ “I found something! I think it’s her. Well… at least… her scent.” Before Velvet could think anymore, Star Streak had caught on to her scent. Velvet plead to Moon and Fire for this not be happening, but Star Streak had found me.
