//------------------------------// // Chapter Eight. Am I Seriously Going Out With Rainbow Dash? // Story: A Dash Of Life. // by Unarmed Pony //------------------------------// As per usual at the beginning of each day, I wake up. This time however, I can't sit up. A blue hoof restrains me to the bed over my chest. I turn my head to the left to see Rainbow Dash cuddled up to me like I was a teddy. Her head using my shoulder as a cushion. It felt really nice. Now for the reason I had to get up. I couldn't feel my arm. I glanced over to Rainbow Dash's clock. I noticed that it was decorated with her cutie mark in the middle and a blue rim. Must have cost quite a bit to have one custom made. Then I noticed it was 9:30. "I think now is an appropriate time to get out of bed." I whisper to myself. I whispered too loud. Rainbow let out a rather unattractive inward snore and fluttered her eyes a little. I just started giggling like an idiot. For some reason I find it funny when beautiful people, or in this case, ponies, do unattractive things. "What are you laughing at?" She said tiredly. "Nevermind." I said, suppressing my laughter. "Let's go get some breakfast." As if on cue, both our bellies growled. Loudly. "Food sounds like a good idea." She agreed. We both headed down the stairs and into the kitchen. We got bowls and poured ourselves some PonyO's. The names ponies give these things always amazes and confuses me. "Your gliding down yourself today." I almost choked on my cereal. I swallowed the mouthful and spoke. "You need to have better timing with when you say stuff like that." Rainbow started giggling. "Anyway, I can't glide down. I'm kind of afraid of small heights like this." "Small heights?" "Yeah, I know. I'm fine with large heights, like the height of Cloudsdale, but small heights, like this, freak me out. I don't know why but they do." Rainbow was now full on laughing. "Are you done?" I asked. "Yeah. Sorry. Anyway, being a pegasus, you have to get over things like that." "Fine. But while I'm not delusional with fear, push me if I don't go. Even if I tell you not to." "Will do." ________________________________ After a rather large shove and a very rough landing, I made it to the floor without dying. Lucky me. Now I have to do it off a very large cliff. According to Rainbow, "Hills, cliffs, Mountains and Cloudsdale." Is how you learn to glide. I replaced a hill for a house. Now for jumping off a cliff. We reached the cliff by mid-day. (It's the same one that the carriage came down in 'Mysterious Mare-Do-Well'.) Needless to say, I was scared. I was once left dangling off a cliff by just my hands after the end gave out. That memory haunts me to this day and I have never been able to go anywhere near one since. And now I had to jump off one. At-least I had wings. I started off at the top of the road and aimed for the drop at the end. Who designed this road? It's a deathtrap waiting to happen! Just as I was about to start my run, Rainbow called out to me. I turned my head to be met with a pair of lips meeting my own. They were so soft. Like kissing a cloud. Even though my mind objected, the kiss broke. "For good luck." She said. I smiled at her and turned back to the road. Rainbow counted down from five. As she said one, I galloped as fast as I could down the road and toward the end. The end came closer and closer until I finally jumped off it. My hooves spread out in front of me and my back ones stretched out behind me. I spread my wings as I glided under the sun. I thought of how awesome I must have looked from below. I glided over several building and the town hall. I braced my legs for a landing as I came above the Ponyville Park. I contacted the ground and broke into a trot. Then stopped. I looked behind me and saw Rainbow Dash flying over. I wish I could properly fly. "Wow! That was amazing!" "I bet you could do better." "Yeah, I could. But you can't even fly yet. I say that's pretty awesome." "Well, maybe I should learn how to fly." "It's not hard. Just flap your wings and jump." I did as she said and flapped my wings. Then I jumped. And then I flew! Well, hovered really. I kinda needed to move to fly. "How do I move forward?" "Just tilt your wings a little so they're flapping at a backward angle. Only slightly though. Too much and you'll lose altitude." I angled them so they were facing slightly to the rear. And I started moving forward. I experimented by flapping my wings faster. Then I moved faster. I pretty much guessed the rest. To turn, I just tilted my body in the direction I wanted to turn. To go up, I tilted my body forward. I was flying at just about Fluttershy speed but I still enjoyed it. _________________________ "So, after we wash up, do you want to go out for dinner?" "Sure. Come on, lets go get a shower." We both went upstairs and after a mental battle with myself, I decided I could get over my self-consciousness for my marefriend. We both went into the bathroom and stepped into the shower. I turned it on to a hot temperature. Luckily we both like scolding hot showers. The water flowed onto us both and our manes drooped over out faces like a curtain. She looked seductive with her mane over her face. Seductive and beautiful. She reminded me of Earth. Her outside crust is hard. She's not bothered by anything. But her inside core is soft. A sensitive mare. I leaned forward, hoping for another kiss. I had been thinking about the first one all day. I closed my eyes and hoped I didn't get a sponge in the face. My lips met something. It wasn't a sponge. It was her. The feeling of pure ecstasy washed over me. The water only enhancing the effect by giving the feeling of something literally washing over me. I felt something strange push against my lips. It was her tongue. I had never kissed someone like that before. I parted my lips and let her tongue probe around my mouth for a while. Then the kiss broke. We pulled our faces away from each other and opened our eyes slowly. Then I knew it. This was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
