Descending into Glory

In the bustling, rich, city of Las Pegasus, Diamond Tiara trotted along the long hallways of her grandfather's hotel casino. She was meeting her friend Silver Spoon at the Grand Theater for some fun. Diamond loved to visit her rich grandfather. She was on vacation with Silver Spoon and would be heading back home in a few short weeks. She loved the hotel's class and sophistication. Maybe someday, she could be a star in her grandfather's theater, or even run the place herself! Diamond continued gleefully down the stairs from her suite and continued into the elevator. Some of the staff was there, including her family's chef.
"Hello Miss Tiara! How was your day?" The chef asked.
"Its going great Chef Basil Broth. I'm going to the theater again! How was your day?" Diamond cheerfully replied. Basil Broth was one of her favorite members of the staff. He often cooked many delicious meals and desserts for her whenever she was upset, and even made her cakes on her birthdays.
"I'm fine as well. Looks like I need to get off now, have a good day Miss Tiara!" With that, Chef Basil Broth exited the elevator, leaving Diamond Tiara alone. She didn't mind though, soon she would be playing with her friends. The elevator gave a ding and she was on the main floor. The theater was close!
Some of the guests staying at the hotel looked over at her. Diamond suddenly realized why. The theater was awfully close to the casinos. She remembered her daddy telling her to stay further away from that area. She didn't know why though. Everyone inside looked like they were having so much fun, but no one was really doing anything. All she saw were bright colors, moving pictures, and the ding a ling of bits falling onto metal or something. She shrugged and started to trot faster. Some of the staff was lingering around the lobby as she passed through the area. "What are they doing? Shouldn't they be helping cheer people up and making them happy?" the little pony wondered. Once again, she ignored the hustle and bustle of the real world and kept moving on. The golden theater door was staring right at her. Gold colored metal was hammered into the shape of a ribbon and placed just atop the round doors. A dramatic theater mask emblem was placed right in the center of the gold ribbon. No door amazed her more than this one, but this wasn't a time to look at pretty doors. No one was around, since none of the shows started until later in the afternoon. Diamond Tiara peeked in to see Silver Spoon right at the center of the stage. The whole room was like a hill. After one left the doors, numerous carpeted stairs led straight to the stage, only a foot or two elevated off the ground.
Silver Spoon saw her best friend and waved up at her. "Hey Diamond Tiara! Let's play!" Silver then continued to run behind the second curtain and disappear. Diamond Tiara smiled and galloped to where she last saw her friend.
"Wait for me!" The pony happily shouted. She arrived behind the curtains and quite out of breath. It wasn't an easy journey jumping and tipping over a bunch of stairs, even if it was all made out of carpet. "Silver? Silver Spoon? You there?" Diamond carefully searched the entire backstage area. She finally found her friend behind the doors of one of her grandfather's best actress ponies: Tessa Royal. Silver Spoon was gawking at herself in one of Tessa's dresses in the huge lighted mirror. "Silver Spoon! We aren't supposed to be back here! We could get in trouble for this!" Diamond scolded her friend in a whisper. She didn't want anypony to know they were back here.
"Aww c'mon Diamond Tiara. Can't we play in here for just a bit? These dresses are so pretty! I'm sure Tessa Royal wouldn't mind. She's nice...right?" Silver Spoon brushed off the warning and started to brush her hair with one of the actress' combs. Diamond Tiara sighed and looked at the dresses. They were awfully pretty. She attended many of Tessa Royal's plays. Her costumes were always something to marvel at. She spotted her favorite one sitting in a glass case on top of some wall. It was locked and quite hard to reach. The dress was a deep royal blue and had gold and silver accents on it. Above was a glistening tiara. That costume was from her favorite play by Tessa. It was about a peasant pony (played by Tessa Royal, of course) who got swept up in the elite life of royals after meeting a dashing prince, who carried her off and made her a princess. That was where this dress came in. Diamond wanted to try it on so badly, but she knew to refrain. She rarely ever got in trouble, and she didn't want to start now. While Silver Spoon was taking off the dress she borrowed, Diamond heard muffled voices coming from the other side of the theater.
"Here is where it all is. The great theater. You must already know....... performs here, why.......... Ha ha! Lets show.........go backstage!" Diamond recognized the muffled voice. It was her grandfather! She heard hoof-steps coming their way. Diamond grabbed her friend and they ran out of the theater's backstage. Just to be sure, she dragged Silver out of the theater and didn't stop running until they reached Diamond's suite. Diamond's mother was waiting in the family room.
The president suite at her grandfather's hotel was really something to marvel at. The white carpet was soft under her hooves. Hanging above in every room was a giant chandelier, and almost everything in sight was lined with either gold or silver. Everything was fancy, soft, and perfect. She loved her room most of all. Her grandfather specially designed it for her and Silver Spoon to share. There were two beds, each with lots of shelves around it, and pretty pictures. Diamond couldn't help but smile whenever she thought of this place. Diamond snapped back into reality as her mother spoke up.
"Diamond Tiara, why are you out of breath? Are you alright?" Diamond's mother asked. She checked Diamond for bruises, bumps, or any marks. Diamond sighed and laughed a little.
"Mom! I'm fine. Me and Silver were....uh, playing tag! Yeah! Um, you're it!" Diamond quickly poked Silver Spoon and dashed off. Silver, although being left quite confused, followed in pursuit.
"Be careful!" Diamond's mother called out as the two dashed out of the president suite and back into the main hotel floors. Diamond and Silver finally stopped.
"Silver! Next time, lets not go into the rooms of other people. Miss Royal might get mad! She may be nice, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be considerate of her things," Diamond told Silver Spoon as she plopped down next to a plant.
"Sorry Diamond. I guess I wasn't being very nice. I wouldn't like it if someone tried on all my dresses without permission either," Silver apologized and sat next to Diamond. They two spent the rest of the day talking about their awesome vacation and looking into the lobby as guests came and left.
"I can't believe we have to go so soon! I wish we could stay here forever," Silver Spoon sighed.
"I know what you mean, but think about it, we will be back here next summer in no time!" Diamond Tiara tried to cheer her friend up. "Do you know who grandfather was talking to when we were backstage?"
Silver pondered the question before shaking her head no. "It must have been one of his friends, I'm sure he has lots in a place like this." Silver Spoon extended her hoof and swirled it all around the room. Diamond giggled at the strange gesture. The two decided it was high time that they returned to their room and left to go back.
