Mommy's Little Star

The Note

Twilight had returned to her library sadly, having had no luck in getting food once again but that had been the least of her problems. She knew that ponies hated her now and it was only a matter of time before they wanted her gone. Every pony in Ponyville wanted Twilight and friends to leave. It was a good thing Twilight had been preparing for this or moving may have been more stressful. This would be the last day in her library, soon it would be empty and Twilight and her daughter would be on their way to somewhere far away. She had planned to move all the way to Saddle Arabia or maybe even further. Still, even with all the planning, it didn’t make the moving any easier. She would have to leave all that she loved behind with the exceptions of her friends and daughter.

Twilight flung the door to the library open and threw her saddle bag on the floor. “Well today was a bust, like usual.” She sat down on her sofa and let out a loud sigh. She hadn’t noticed her friend’s glares or turned heads. “Was Star a good girl today?” Twilight asked but was met with an irate tone in Rainbow’s answer.

“Yeah sure, she was great.” Rainbow growled a bit.

Twilight caught onto to the tone and the growl and was a bit confused. Her friends had been babysitting for years and never acted that way. “What happened, what did she do?” She was worried that her daughter had done something bad today but at the same time, couldn’t believe that Star would do anything bad on purpose. No answer came and that irritated her. “Well, what happened?”

Rainbow Dash snapped after all the years of holding in her anger. For thirteen years she held onto the anger of what Twilight had done and what Star had convinced her mother to do. “You happened Twilight, you just had to go and let yourself get raped just to save that little brats life.”

Twilight was taken back but not surprised by the reaction; this was Rainbow Dash after all. Rainbow did tend to think this way at times. “I get it, you’re upset with me for what I did but she is my daughter and she needed me.”

“Twilight dear, it’s-” Rarity started to say but was cut off by Rainbow.

Rainbow turned to Rarity. “Oh no Rarity, stop being nice, Twilight needs to hear what we’ve been thinking for the past thirteen years.” Rainbow turned back to Twilight. “You just don’t get it do you? You’re daughter ruined our lives and not only her but you as well.” Twilight looked to the others to see if they had really felt the same way but they just turned their heads away. “See, you screwed up our lives as well.”

Twilight respond with a calm tone of voice. “As I recall everypony, I told you all not to get involved. You can’t blame any of this on me or my daughter.”

“We’re your friends; it’s our job to help you.” Rainbow was about to continue but Twilight spoke loud and with authority.

“You may be my friends but I didn’t ask for your help, you volunteered. I didn’t want you to get involved in this because I knew what would happen. It is your own choice that screwed up your lives. You could have disowned me as a friend and my family could have turned away from me. I would have been fine by myself with my daughter for the rest of my life.”

“You chose that spoiled brat over us!” Rainbow yelled.

“Of course I did, she is my family who I would always choose over you five.” Twilight turned to Applejack. “Don’t say anything AJ, aren’t you the one who said that our families are the first friends that we ever make.” Applejack backed away feeling guilty about her feelings now. In her heart, she knew Twilight was right about all of this. They had no right to be angry at Twilight for their choices to stay.

Without warning, Star ran down the stairs with tears in her eyes. “Stop it, just stop it! Stop hating my mom, I’ll leave but stop hating her.” Star ran past the group and out the door. Twilight called out to her but Star kept running.

Twilight turned to her friends, her eyes red with anger but her voice calm. “Get out of here; I don’t want to ever see you five again. Just get out of my life.” Twilight ran out the door but was grabbed by AJ.

“Let us help you Twi-”

Twilight pulled away forcefully. “Stay away from me and my daughter; we don’t need any of you.” Twilight then took off running.

Star ran and ran all the while having rotten fruits and veggies thrown at her. She ignored the rotten food and made her way to the Everfree Forest. It began to rain and the ground started to become soft and muddy. She didn’t care if she was killed by the creatures in the forest, she just didn’t want to be alive anymore. This wasn’t the life she wanted. As she ran, the rain came down harder and the wind picked up. Within a minute of the forest, she bumped into somepony. She looked up and saw a yellow mare with a red mane and tail. “Hello, oh it’s you. I s’pose I should give this to you but I don’t like you very much. Still, this may be the only chance of things changin. I’ve had this for a while, it’s about time we run into each other.” Apple Bloom hoofed over a piece of paper and walked off.

Star looked at the paper and began to read what was written.

My Dear Star,

Below this writing is a spell that I have been working on to perfect for you to give to me in case something goes wrong while you travel through time. When I tried to freeze you to keep you from moving, I accidentally sent you backward. It was a time traveling spell that I messed up and I’m sorry about that. I am also so sorry for forgetting you; I know that I’ve been a bad mother to you but if you could forgive me that would be wonderful. I don’t expect you to though. If you don’t decide to give this to me, I suppose things are or will be or possibly were, anyway, point is things are better for you. I can only blame myself for hurting you so much, I love you with all my heart and soul Star.

Love your mother,

Princess Twilight Sparkle

There was more written below, Star wanted to read the rest but a strong wind blew by and tore it from her hooves. The note was blown into the Everfree Forest. She chased after it into the forest but she tripped and fell. She tried to stand but the ground beneath her gave way and she fell further down into a pit too big to climb out of. Mud and rain hit her head and clouded her sight. She heard a pony calling her name, it was her mother. “Mom, I’m in a hole, help me!” Star yelled but the pit started to fill up with water. It was rising fast and it filled her mouth. Star coughed out mud just to have more flood into her mouth. She gagged and choked as she tried to scream for help, she didn’t want to die anymore, she could change things. Her breathing became shallow and her eyes began to close. She couldn’t swim out; the mud that rose with the water was too thick. She knew that this was the end for her; she would drown in a mud pit alone and cold. Her only wish was that she could have changed everything, made it so that she hadn’t been born. Her mother and friends would be better off anyway. It didn’t matter though; she was going to die there. The mud completely covered her body and she couldn’t move or breathe any longer. Star’s eyes closed as she waited for her end to come but not before the darkness of falling unconscious overcame her. All that could be seen was a big mud puddle as the rain poured down upon what was now Stars grave.
