Chapter One: Order and Peace Part One: The Beginning

Ring! Ring! Ring! Kuvira woke up with a jolt to the sounding of her alarm. Moaning, she began the never ending search for that bastard of a clock within her suite. The room was filled with many memorabilia hailing from the Earth Kingdom palace, being the presidential suite. Being extremely careful as she didn’t want to break anything, Kuvira eventually made her way around the many golden artifacts that lay scattered across the floor near her bed. Almost stumbling into a silver table that was in the middle of the room, she found the little clock, and crushed it with her metal bending. She needed no distractions for today was going to be her big day. The day where she could prove herself to her lover, her parents, her citizens and most importantly the world that she could take on the role of leading the Earth Kingdom into a new era of prosperity.

Wiping her forehead, she began to head towards the bathroom to get ready for the ceremony. The one that she would steal away from that Wu bastard just as she did with this suite. This Wu character is nothing but a monkey of a fool. He doesn’t know what real leadership means, and by the time he does, he’ll be in the Spirit World either by my actions, or his own she thought as she changed into her official military uniform. Walking over to her paperwork desk on the right side of her bed, she noticed just one little folded slip of paper, beckoning for her to open it. She sighed why do I have official paper work on my day off? Can’t the President just for once let me have some damn peace? She thought, as she opened the slip. “Dear Great Uniter, it has come to my attention that there is a rebellion starting in my province of Rutatu. Some assistance from your troops would be much needed to bring all of these criminals to justice, either dead or alive.” The note was signed by Governor Ga’ku. Kuvira pounded on the desk with force.

“Why can’t the Kingdom just accept that I’m their leader now? It’s not too much to ask to be united as one Kingdom isn’t it?” She screamed, causing commotion outside of her door.

“Miss, is everything alright?” One of her guards said, entering the room vigorously.

“No! Everything’s not alright! There’s a rebellion happening right now in MY Kingdom, and I want it stopped!” She said, stomping her foot, which caused a huge hole in the groud.

“Um, um yes Miss. Do you want me to go fetch one of your advisors?” The guard said, stuttering around trying to find something to write on.

“As a matter of fact, there is. Write a note to Varrick and Bolin’s secretaries, as I want to see them ASAP. Tell them that this is a top priority meeting, and that they can’t be seen walking here, as I do not want this to get out to the public on the day of the coronation! Understood?”

“Top priority, can’t be seen… I think I have it all down for you Miss. I’ll send this note out right now!” The guard said, running as quickly as he could, almost running into the door. Kuvira rubbed her forehead again. This stupidity is getting annoying. Thank the Spirits when I am in charge of my new Earth Empire, I’ll make sure that none of these idiots are helping me run this country She walked over to her bed and sat cross-legged, waiting for the two to arrive. A little while later, when she was beginning to meditate, there was a knock on her door. Bouncing off the bed, she opened it to find two men.

One was a taller, leaner fellow with a pretty long mustache, that he was playing with. He had a big grin on his face, and Kuvira could only guess what could be in that insane mind of his. The other one on his right, was a bit shorter, yet more stocker. He was a master earthbender, that could even lavabend as well, something that she still hasn’t picked up, even with all of the lessons that he had with her. He was picking his nose when she opened the door, then quickly pulled that hand behind his head, rubbing it while he was blushing. How cute Kurvira thought, rolling her eyes at the sight.

“So Boss, what is this top secret mission that we’re both about to go on?” The taller one said, moving with swagger towards her, placing his arm around her shoulder.

“Well Verrick, how much do you value your life?”

“Very much so my dear. So it’s one of these missions I take it?”

“Why yes, it is. There is a rebellion happing in the province of Rutatu, on the day of Wu’s coronation no less. I am assigning you and Bolin to be generals of the army that is going to put down this rebellion. You two must leave right now.” Kuvira said, pointing towards the door.

“Take it easy their Kuvira. Can’t we hold off on the whole crushing the rebellion thingy until after the coronation?” Bolin said with a nervous chuckle.

“No can do Bolin. We need this taken care of BEFORE, or else Wu will look weak in the eyes of the world.”

“But he’s already weak! If he rules, there will be even more rebellions in the Earth Kingdom! Look at all the good that we’ve done for the people of the Earth Kingdom! I’d bet with a little convincing, that we could rule the Earth Kingdom, with you as its monarch.” Bolin said, trying to ease tension.

“Now that’s something that I can get behind kid! Empress Kuvira does have a nice ring to it as well!” Verrick said, putting a friendly hand on Bolin’s shoulder.

“Now that’s just an absurd thought Bolin. I was assigned to clean up the Earth Kingdom so that Wu could rule in peace. The best that I can do is try and delay the coronation until the rebellion is taken care of. There’s no possible way that the United Republic, or the world for that matter, would accept me just taking the throne from Wu without a reason!” Kuvira said, berating Bolin for his thinking.

“Well maybe the will after seeing what type of ruler that Wu will be. No matter how many advisors that they’ll bring in, the Earth Kingdom won’t thrive due to how irresponsible that he’ll be! The people of the Earth Kingdom need someone with strong leadership, and that someone is you!” Bolin said, throwing his hands up in the air defending his point.

“Again, I’ll see what I can do. But for right now, my job is to make the Kingdom safe for Wu to return. And you never know, maybe throwing the crown on him will shape him into becoming a competent ruler.”

“Let’s hope to the Spirits that come to be. Or else everyone will suffer.” Bolin said. They sat in silence for a few minutes, before Varrick broke the ice.

“Oh, I almost forgot something Boss. I remember you telling me yesterday that you wanted to see me in secret for something that’s very important?”

“That’s right, I did! Now Bolin, would you be so kind as to leave us two by ourselves for a while?”

“Sure thing boss!” Bolin said, walking out of the room in an orderly fashion.

“So, here’s the task that I have for you. I pardoned you, Verrick, because I found potential in your creativity as an inventor.” Verrick beamed at her compliment.

“Why thank you Boss. I have often been described as the smartest man since Chief Sokka.”

“Right. Well, I’ll let you back up those words by creating for me some superweapons.” Kuvira said, as Varrick’s face light up even more.

“What type of superweapons Boss?” Varrick asked, putting his hands together gleefully.

“I would like you to experiment on the Spirit Vines found here in Republic City to find out if we can harness their energy into something truly magnificent!”

“I’m already one step ahead of you there sweetie. During our run in with the Wild Band on the outskirts of this grand city, I noticed that they were harnessing the energy that the Vines provided made themselves a lot stronger. I’ve been working on a way to harness this energy for ourselves, just incase we needed to be called for duty.” Varick said, pacing around the room.
“That’s good and all, but what about the prototypes that I need to protect our country?”

“Well you see, for that type of power, what we have right now just doesn’t cut it. But, as you know I always like to think one step ahead, and have come up with a way for us to harness the energy found in different universes.”

“Go on. I’d love to see what crackpot theory you believe now.” Kuvira said, rolling her eyes. She was not one to believe these sort of theories without proper evidence, or by which they could find a means to actually get to other universes.

“This theory isn’t all that crazy my dear. You see, after the great Harmonic Convergence that took place a few years back, I was curious to see if we could use the Spirit Portals to create a bridge between worlds. For the first few months I was unsuccessful, but after the Spirit Vines became more commonplace amongst us, I began to gather more and more energy, and created a replica portal that allowed me to use the Spirit World to travel to different worlds.” Varrick said. Kuvira raised an eyebrow at the prospect.

“I’d lie to you if I said I wasn’t interested in what you’re saying right now. But before I can fund this project of yours, what proof do you have that you visited these other worlds?”

“Funny you should mention that, because I have proof right here!” Varrick said, reaching into his pocket. “It’s a horn from a unicorn that I killed from one of the two worlds that I visited.” Varrick then pulled out the unicorn horn, with a silent gasp from Kuvira.

“So this time you’ve actually given me something of interest from your theories. Tell me, do you know much about these horns?”

“It’s quite fascinating what they do. I was told by some of the locals that these horns are what gives the unicorns their magical abilities. And those abilities range anywhere from simple levitation all the way to teleportation and firing magic at enemies.”

“Very interesting. I’ve made up my mind that from now on, I am counting on you to provide as much magical energy that you can find. And do whatever it takes to get that magic. Do I make myself clear?”

“Yes sir Boss! I can provide you with all of the magical energy you need, and I know how to get it too.” Varrick said with a grin.

Twilight Sparkle yawned. It had been almost a full week since she and her friends defeated Tirek, and she was still tired from the fight. Never in her life had she used that much magic within one day, and that drained her. She got up from her bed, and looked at the clock. Damn! Almost five hours to go unitl the special meeting she thought, now sitting fully upright on her bed. This mission that princess Celestia was about to give her and her friends was undoubtedly very important, yet also very strange at the same time. She wondered why Celestia only called upon her five friends, and not herself for this mission. In previous times of crisis, it had been all six of them together, to solve whatever foe or problem that presented itself to Equestria.

Twilight scratched her head at the thought. She got up out of her bed, and tried to think of a way to occupy herself before the big mission. Her room was mostly empty with only the bed on the very back wall, her shelves of books occupying either side of her bed, and the clock hanging above her. She had plans to decorate the whole room to her liking with Rarity's help once they got settled in. She wandered out into the hallway leading to the others rooms. Not wanting to take any chances incase something went bad, she grabbed her crown, her Element, and continued on her way.

“If something bad happens to me I know that I am safe, as the other Elements can detect if shit hits the fan.” Twilight whispered to herself, as she walked down the seemingly endless hallway. Right as she was about to enter the main meeting room, she heard a noise. Instantly turning around, she was met by a small puppy. Curious, she walked towards it, assuming that it was friendly.

“Come here little doggy, I don’t bite.” Twilight said, inching closer to the dog. She was just in hooves reach when the pup sprinted away from her like it was a life or death situation.

"What, did I do something wrong?" She said out loud to herself, as she began to chase after the dog. While the dog was pretty fast for its size, it could not keep Twilight away from it for long, as she was coming up fast behind it. The dog then thought quickly as he turned the corner, causing Twilight to crash into the wall before she could turn around. Alright, this is getting pretty rediculous. I need to see why he's here, and I can't do that bumping into walls. Twilight thought, feeling for the dogs aura. She sat in silence for several minutes, before she picked up on his location.

Got ya! Now you're all mine dog! She thought, smiling as she teleported to him. The dog was by the front entrance to the castle by the time Twilight found him. He was sitting in the middle of the room fading the doors, having a blank expression on his face. This room was just as empty as the others, with no objects there except for two staircases that led to opposite sides of the castle. Twilight teleported herself that put her in a position between the dog and the two gold crested doors that led to the outside world.

"I have you now!" Twilight yelled, diving after the dog.

"And I have you!" It was a mans voice, that appeared was coming from behind Twilight. Before she could get out of the room, he put Twilight and the dog in a brown bag that he was carrying, and used the strange portal that was behind him to transport them out of Equestria.

"Hey! Let me go! You don't know who you're dealing with!" Twilight said, struggling to get out of the bag.

"No can do there little unicorn. You're going to be of great use for me." Verrick said, heaving the bag into the back of the truck.

"I'm now a unicorn, I'm an Alicorn! And what exactly are you going to do to me?" Twilight said, frightened. She sat there waiting for a response from the man, but she got none, at least not for a while. Verrick sighed. This creature was going to be much more of a challange than he was hoping for.

"All right little Alicorn, or whatever you call yourself, I'll tell you. We're going to be doing some experiments, and you're one of our leading test subjects."

"Experiments.... On me?" Twilight gulped. The only time that I've heard of expirments being used in that context was when the griffons were bringing in ponies and doing tests that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of ponies... Twilight sat in silence for a few minutes, frightened for her life. She began to breath heavily, and her horn started to charge.

"Oh come now lady, these experiments won't harm you. That is, if you comply of course." Verrick said. If I comply... Twilight thought for a moment while she sat in the dark, brown bag as the truck moved forward. She broke down in tears, not knowing what to do next. For the first time in her life, Twilight didn't fully have an answer for her situation. Her wail caused the whole truck to shake, almost knocking it off its foundation.

"Would you knock it off in there? It's really fucking hard to drive with your squeal!" Verrick yelled, banging on the back of the truck. Twilight still screamed, even to the point of crying herself to sleep. Vertical sighed. This is going to be a lot harder than I thought, isn't it. No wonder I'm being paid in millions, besides being the only one capable to manage spirit vines in not just one world, but two. I still don't get paid enough for this shit he thought, driving his truck with Twilight still asleep into his lab.
