Chapter 20 - Lightning Strikes! (part 02)

With no way to stop it, Fluttershy took the full force of the attack. Her Life Points were reduced to 2600. However as it impacted she felt something was off. It felt as if her body was really being electrocuted. As she fell to the ground, subtle sparks of electricity expelled from her body.
Something's wrong...that shouldn't have hurt that much.
She struggled to get to her hooves as the electrical energy made it's way through her body. Once on her hooves, turned to her opponent.
“That was a pretty good move, Lightning,” she spoke, a little weary.
“And it won't be the last one. But for now, I'm gonna end my turn for now.”

----------------

On the sidelines, Star knew something was amiss.
Something's off. There's no way that attack should've done that much damage he thought.
Phantom looked to see that Star was concerned for his friend.
“Star, are you okay?” asked Phantom Heart.
“Huh? Oh, yeah I'm fine.”
“You don't have to lie, Star. I'm worried too.”
“What do you mean?”
She looked to Fluttershy.
“With the way the duel technology works, any damage dealt should be minimal at best. But I can see a strange aura permeating the field. It some how is making the damage dealt become real.”
“I see...”
“Do you think she'll be okay?”
To that, Star just chuckled.
“Okay? She'll be more than okay. 'Shy gonna dominate,” he spoke with a smug grin.

----------------

Back on the field, Fluttershy proceeded with her turn.
“Okay Lightning, it's my turn!” she declared, as she drew.
When she saw her card a faint smirk appeared.
Perfect! she cheered.
She then looked back to the field.
“I'll place this monster facedown and end my turn.”
A facedown card then appeared on the field.
“Trying to stall, Fluttershy? It won't work!” scoffed Lightning, as she drew her card.
Lightning looked at her card then proceeded with her turn.
“First, I summon 'Wattdragonfly to the field in Attack Mode!”

A large electrical bug then appeared on the field. It had huge light green eyes, a blue and yellow striped body, orange and light green appendages, four clear wings, and a midnight blue and yellow striped tail.
“And thanks to 'Wattcannon' you lose another 600 Life Points,” she grinned.
As before, the large cannon fired a small burst of electrical energy that caused Fluttershy to stumble a bit upon impact and her Life Points were reduced to 2000.
“Now, 'Wattdragonfly' attack the facedown monster with Thunder Tail!” ordered Lightning.
The electrical bug then gathered it's energy to the tip of it's tail. It then flew up high and dived down to the monster and struck it with it's tail. The hidden creature that was reveal was a large orange-brown squirrel.
“Many thanks, Lightning. You just destroyed my 'Nimble Momonga',” explained Fluttershy.

“When my 'Nimble Momonga' is destroyed I gain 1000 Life Points,” said Fluttershy.
Her Life Points were increased to 3000.
“And due to my monster's effect, I can summon two more 'Nimble Momonga' monsters to the field in facedown in Defense Mode.”
Two more facedown monsters appeared.
“Whatever, Zaborg take one of those facedown monsters with Thunder Fist!” ordered Lightning.
As before, the colossal monster gathered it's electrical energy and delivered her thunderous fist to the defending monster. Another one of Fluttershy's squirrels were destroyed.
“Thank you for the Life Points, Lightning,” Fluttershy smiled.
Her Life Points are increased to 4000.
“Err...I'll end my turn,” huffed Lightning.

----------------

In the shadows, Sombra looked on with a displeased glare.
“What is that fool doing?!” he seethed.
He then used his Millennium Rod, to communicate Lightning Dust. On the field, Lightning felt a numbing sensation on the back of her head.
SLAVE! he bellowed.
Y-Yes, master...
What are you doing?!
Don't worry, master. Everything is under-
You let her get back into this match!
A slight miscalculation, but nothing that I can't handle.
See that you don't fail. Or the consequences will be dire!
Y-Yes, master...
He then disconnected his connection, and continued to look on with great disdain.
“She must not win,” he brooded.

----------------

Back on the field, Fluttershy was ready to launch her counterattack.
“Okay, Lightning. Let's see what I can do,” she spoke.
When she looked at the card she drew, she knew her plan was coming together.
“First, I switch my facedown monster to face-up Attack Mode.”
The facedown monster flips up to reveal another large orange-brown squirrel.
“Then I activate my facedown Trap card 'Primal Stomp'!”

“What?!” spoke Lightning.
The large squirrel then slammed its paw on the ground, which caused a massive shockwave to expel and head toward the towering beast. As the shockwave hit Zaborg, the monarch was immediately destroyed.
“No, Zaborg!”
“And now, 'Nimble Momonga' attack her dragonfly with Furry Slash!” commanded Fluttershy.
The furry squirrel then charged the electric bug. With a powerful strike, the dragonfly was destroyed and Lightning's Life Points were reduced to 3900. Just then, Lightning Dust started to chuckle.
“Something amusing, Lightning?”queried Fluttershy.
“Nothing much. Just the fact that you played right into my hand,” she responded.
“What're you-”
“I'll let my card speak for me. You see when my 'Wattdragonfly' is destroyed I can summon 1 'Watt' monster from my deck.”
It was then, high above the field a large black cloud hovered over the field.
“What is-”
“And I'm bringing out my strongest beast! I Special Summon 'Wattaildragon'!”

It had tattered wings, razor sharp claws and fangs, and a tail that was engulfed by a ball of light blue electric energy.
“Whoa...” Fluttershy said in awe. “Umm, I'll end my turn by placing this monster facedown in Defense mode and this card facedown.”
“Good, now it's my turn,” Lightning spoke with a cocky grin as she drew her card.
With a brief glance at her card, she proceeded with her turn.

The thunderous dragon then began to gather its energy until it's tail was completely engulfed with electrical energy. It then dove for the defending creature, and with one swing of it's tail the squirrel was automatically destroyed.
“No, Nimble Momonga,” cried Fluttershy.
“And thanks to that you lose 2000 Life Points,” mentioned Lightning.
Fluttershy why then hit with a shockwave that cause her to stumble as her Life Point were reduced to 2000.
“That'll do it for now,” Lightning smuggly chuckled.

“And thanks to this card all the cards from our hands, field, and Graveyard go back to our decks. We then shuffle them and draw five cards.”
So, that's her plan. Restart everything and hope to get a good hand. That's pretty gutsy for a timid pony like her, thought Lightning.
The cards where then returned to their respective decks and where shuffled. After that the two drew their five cards. Fluttershy could barely hold back a squee as she saw her cards.
“Perfect, I summon 'Phoena, the Bird of Paradise' in Attack mode.”

The mythic bird then took to the air. Then with a flap of launch a gust of fire wind. Lightning slightly stumbled as the blazing wing struck her, causing her Life Points to be reduced to 2900.
“I'll set two cards facedown and end my turn.”

On the sidelines, Star was cheering loudly for his friend.
“Yeah, 'Shy! Way to turn it around!” he shouted.
“Ah'm impressed with how she turned it around,” noted Applejack.
“Indeed, darling. Quite impressive,” chimed Rarity.
“The dweeb just got lucky is all,” huffed Gilda.
“So, I guess that makes you 0-3. Eh, Gildie?” mocked Star.
“Bite me, loser,” she barked.
“You wish, Gildie,” scoffed Star.

--------

Back on the field, Lightning's turn had begun.
Okay this is just a small set back, she thought as she drew her card. But nothing that I can't handle.

Wattcobra's ATK was then increased to 1500.
“And thanks to it's effect, it can attack you directly,” explained Lightning.
“What?” gasped Fluttershy.
“Now, my beast. Attack her directly with Lightning Fang!”
As it gathered it's electrical energy in it's fangs, the snake then slithered past the mythical bird, and headed toward it's target. As it was about strike, Fluttershy prepared to counter.
“Not so fast, Lightning. I activate the Trap card 'Phoenix Shield'!”

At the moment, an aura shield in the shape of a phoenix appeared in front of Fluttershy and the electric viper's attack was deflected.
“Hmph, fine I set one card facedown and end my turn.”
“Okay then, it's time for me to step it up,” said Fluttershy, she drew her card.
Fluttershy saw her card and knew her victory was secured.
“This was just what I needed,” she grinned.
“Oh yeah, Flutters? You think you got this all wrapped up?” mocked Lightning.

As the mythic bird left the field, a fiery, humanoid maiden took it's place. She had light peach skin, flowing crimson hair, ethereal wing made of orange-red flames and piercing cyan eyes (which changed to goldenrod when attacking). She wore a decorative golden necklace with a ruby in the center of it, golden shoulder guards, light orange-red arm gloves with golden gauntlets, a red-orange backless shirt, a pleated with skirt with a red stripe along the hem, a golden yellow sash the draped to the side, light orange-red leggings with golden boots with decorative trim. The crowd was in awe of her beauty.
“Wow, she's pretty hot,” grinned Spike.
It's was then Spike felt an eerie chill. It was as if his Sweetie Belle were glaring at him at the exact moment.
I have a strange feeling I'm gonna regret saying that out loud later, he thought.
“Impressive, Flutters. But it's nowhere near enough to end this duel,” scoffed Lightning.
“We'll see, but first I activate one of her effects. On the turn she is summoned, I can look at your hand and for each monster she gains one 'Flame Counter,” informed Fluttershy.
Lightning Dust, then revealed her hand and it showed three monsters.
“And since you have three monsters, she gains three 'Flame Counters.”
At that moment, three red-orange orbs appeared above Phenx.
“Now Phenx, attack her 'Wattcobra' with Phoenix Arrow!”
The fiery maiden then gathered her flame energy to form an aura bow in the shape of phoenix. She then took aim, and after a few seconds fired a flame arrow at the defending cobra. The cobra was instantly destroyed, and Lightning's Life Points were reduced to 2000.
“Not bad, Flutters. But it's not enough to end this duel,” Lightning pointed out.
“It is when I activate my Trap card 'Phoenix Backfire', countered Fluttershy.

Phoenix Backfire

“You see thanks to this card, by sending my monster to the Graveyard, you lose 2400 Life Points.”
“What?!”
As the fiery maiden left the field, she expelled a shockwave. The force of the shockwave knocked Lightning off her hooves. As she fell to the ground, her Life Points were reduced to 0.
“And there you have it. The winner is Fluttershy,” declared Pegasus.
The crowd then erupted as the match concluded. On the field, Lightning looked at the ceiling in disbelief.
No...It's not possible... H-How could I lose? she thought.
SLAVE! bellowed Sombra.
M-Master! I can explain-
I do not care for your excuses! You warned you that failure wasn't an option! If there's one thing I will not tolerate it's failure!
Master, please I-
SILENCE! You shall pay for your failure
With fear for her life, Lightning Dust quickly ran off the stage and toward the main hall. Lightning moved at such a fast pace, that it caused a gust of wind that sent Applejack's stetson flying toward the same direction.
“Mah hat!” Applejack whined, as she chased after it.
“Okaay. What was that all about?” questioned Star.
“You got me? She looked like she was going to die or something,” mentioned Twilight.

--------

In the hallway, Lightning desperately tired to escape the punishment that had awaited her.
“I gotta get out of here,” she panted.
As she was running, she was then caught by a powerful violet aura. With was then Sombra appeared before her. She desperately tired to break freed but to no avail.
“You weren't foolish enough to think you could escape me, did you?” coldly spoke.
“M-Master...please...I-” Lightning begged.
“Your excuses will fall on deaf ears, child. Now, prepare for mind to join the infinite darkness known as the Abyss,” he spoke with a sinister glare.
“Master...no...please-” she pleaded.
With on swift motion, Sombra lifted his Millennium Rod and activated it's magic. In a bright flash, Lightning was transformed into a Duel Monsters card. As it fell to the ground, Sombra could see the lifeless expression on Lightning's face.
“Such is the price of failure,” he chuckled.
As he knelt down to pick the card, he saw a familiar stetson blow into the hallway.
Oh, no. That belongs the Element of Honesty.
“There ya are. Ah thought Ah'd never catch up to ya,” said Applejack, as she was about to enter the hallway.
Err...I can't be seen yet.
Before she entered the hallway, Sombra the disappeared in a flash. As she entered the hallway, she knelt down to pick up her stetson.
“Gotcha ya little rascal,” she chuckled.
Upon putting on her hat, she noticed the card on the floor.
“Huh? What's that?” she wondered.
She then walked over and picked up the card.
“Hmm, never seen this card before. It kinda looks like Lightning-”
“Miss Applejack, can you please return to the field,” spoke Pegasus through the intercom.
“Whoop better get back out there!”
She put the card in her back pocket and headed back to the field.

--------

Once Applejack is back on the sidelines, Pegasus was ready to continue.
“Now, let's keep the ball rolling and introduce the participants for the next match,” he declared.
The next two cards then flipped over to reveal Applejack and Princess Cadence.
“And our next match will be Applejack vs. Princess Cadence!”
