//------------------------------// // Chapter 3: Asassination Failure // Story: Assassin in Equestria // by Pixel Berry //------------------------------// "Uh, mam'? Why are you starring at me like that?" Relay asked, snapping me out of my stunned trance. Kotonaru just brought her head down, showing that she was sorry for the starring. "Anyways!" Swift Wing got everyone's attention. "Let's take a seat, shall we." Kotonaru nodded in agreement. Sitting herself down and looking through the menu. She couldn't help but watch the colt next to her, seeing his 'condition' in real life. But she would always look away when she felt she was starring too long. "You know," Swift Wing spoke. "I still didn't get your name." He eyed Kotonaru. All Kotonaru did was zip her mouth shut, showing a playful smile. "Oh? Keeping it a secret shall we?" Swift said. "Oh well. I guess we need to get to know each other longer for that secret to come out." Kotonaru just returned to looking through the menu. ~ As the night continued, Swift told Kotonaru all about himself and Relay. How they live in Ponyville, what he does for a living, and even how he met the mare of his dreams. (Him being married) At first Kotonaru was confused at him inviting her for dinner, but she just assumed that he just wanted to be friends. Her assumptions being correct later on. When the dinner was finally over, they went there separate ways, Kotonaru returning back to the apartment building. When she changed back to her human self, she just stared into the broken mirror in her room. Thinking of what to do now. 'It's so confusing! Should I? Shouldn't I? Why did I have to accept that invite!? I'm so stupid! Your suppose to stay hidden from the crowd! Not go on some dumb get-together! Ugh! This is why Teacher told me to not do that!' Kotonaru jumped on her bed, making it squeak at the pressure. 'Of all nights, why tonight!?' Kotonaru groaned in anger. 'Ugh! Snap out of it! It was just a friendly dinner! I know that my Teacher would just do his job and forget about it. Keep moving foreword!' Kotonaru then got off her bed, getting ready to do her job. She only grabbed a necklace and her phone with her solar-charger from the dresser and went out the window, showing no emotion as she sneaked through the shadows. ~ "Hey Dad?" Relay asked, him being tucked in one of the hotel beds. "Yes?" Swift said. "Why do you think that mare was starring at me?" The colt asked. "I don't know. Maybe she wants to be your friend but is just too afraid to ask." Swift assumed. "Maybe next time I'll ask her instead. Maybe she's really nice." Relay said. "Yeah... maybe." Swift said. "Now get some rest. After my meeting we can return back to Ponyville. You can catch up with Scootaloo when we return." "Okay, Dad. Night!" Relay shouted. "Night." Swift then closed the door behind him, one of the royal guards in front of him. "He's going to sleep." Swift said to the guard. "Thank you, why don't you get some rest yourself." The guard said. "Okay, but you better promise that Relay won't be harmed. Got it?" Swift gave the guard a menacing glare, it not effecting the guard. "I swore on Celestia's sun that he won't be hurt in any way." The guard saluted. "Okay, I'm going to bed now." Swift then went to the other room, closing the door behind him as the darkness covered his equine body. ~ When Kotonaru finally reached the Black Stallion Hotel, she noted that most of the room lights were off, indicating that very few ponies are still awake. Kotonaru then located the window to room 69, ignoring the silly pun in her head. She looked through the window, seeing the sleeping colt on the bed, his messy mane all over the place. But before she could even open the window, she felt a huge wave of pain in one of her arms, she looked down to see that there was a throwing knife in her arm, thankfully not going through it. She turned her head to see an array of royal guards around her. 'How did I not see them!?' Kotonaru thought as she kept eye on the guards. "Ms. Kotonaru. Please cooperate and get off the Hotel!" One of the guards shouted. 'Not without a fight!' Kotonaru then jumped off the building, rolling onto a nearby buildings rooftop. The guards seeing her try to escape, the winged guards started giving chase. As Kotonaru continued running on the rooftops, the guards started gaining up on her, but at the last second, Kotonaru jumped in one of the alley's, shifting her hand to a knife and scraping down the brick wall. That caught the guards by surprise, making them stop and stumble upon each other. The guards behind of course followed Kotonaru, diving down the alleyway for her. When Kotonaru was close enough, she jumped off the wall into the pavement and started running once more. She turned her head just in time to see a pegasi dashing towards her, she ducked right when the pegasus flew past her, making Kotonaru turn a different direction. Kotonaru then kept on running, very few moments when she looked back to see if any would catch up to her. But she was so into losing the guards that she didn't see somepony far more powerful getting ready to cast a spell, but when she noticed, it was too late. The spell hit her directly on the face, at first she thought she was unaffected, but a huge wave of tiredness washed over her, making her slow down. Behind her the guards stopped giving chased and just watched the spell take effect. She then just stopped running, just standing in place, before she fell to her knees and making her face meet ground. Everything then just went dark. ~3rd Person P.O.V.~ When Kotonaru was finally knocked out, most of the guards showed smiles of joy, knowing that there most well-known criminal was finally caught. A white Alicorn, known as Celestia, flew down to where Kotonaru was laying. She used her magic to make restraints on her arms. She then levitated the unconscious human to her back and turned to her guards. "Gentlecolts." She called out, snapping everypony to attention. "I now report this operation a success!" That made everypony cheer. "Now if you don't mind, It is time to start Operation: Reformation." Celestia said. Then, without another word, she teleported out of the street, into her castle. She then gently placed the unconscious human in the cell. "I hope they may change your ways and make you see your errors within your life." Celestia said. She then summoned a quill and parchment, writing with her levitation, and then sending it off in a green wisp. "May Faust help this poor soul." Celestia said as she left the dungeon, the moonlight being the only source of light within the cell wall that Kotonaru is now resting in.
