Part 6 [Griffin Hostility, planning and the Skirmish with Silverwing]
The Everfree Castle, the former home of the Princesses and their former capital lay in ruins, except for one room. A meeting hall, complete with a table with sturdy chairs, this room looks recently clean as its currently occupied by Twilight and her two friends on the side of the table, looking over to the two princesses seated at the chairs. Across them at the proper barren room stood at attention, both the Canterlot Royal guards and the Lunar Night Guards. "We all gather here today, because of a new threat to our ponies. A mere hour or so ago, the township of ponyville was attacked and put under seiged, it's ciitzen's held hostage. We will not stand this, we will fight back!" Luna proclaimed, slamming a hoof into the table, the men cheered, the elder princess cleared her throat.
"But we need a plan, and we first must know our enemy. Ah, here comes our scout now" she smiles as in cue the door slammed open to reveal a royal guard running into the room "Report princess, i had spied the enemy within the town." She smile at him "Go on." He cleared his throat and salutes "Griffins maam.. and their commanding officer seem to be Sargent Silverwing maam!"Luna reeled in shock so did Twilight, it was Twilight who spoke up
"But why?! That's inconceivable! The Griffins and Ponies are at peace for the last 400 years!" Celestia responded but with a serious expression "We were, it seems this fool broke the treaty and declared war on us. Attacking a town close to the capital, this Sargent must be a foolhardy tactician. But we will form our own plan, Sister if you please?"
Shaking hear head "of course, I had one in mind, to estimate our enemies' strength, a surprise Pincher attack. I'll lead my night guards to face Silverwing sister and a unit will lie in wait for my signal and attack him from his flank. He'll retreat like the bloody coward he is" she gives a smug grin in triumph.
"And pray tell who would lead that unit dear sister? me?" Celestia asked, Luna smile even wider "Twilight Sparkle of course." Twilight spoke up "Well tha- Wait.. WHAT?! Me?!" she looked up with shocked concern. "Why me? I don't know anything how to lead!" Luna scoff at that "You lead your friends, you lead the town too. And Think of it this way Twilight Sparkle, if ponyville see you thrusting the attack forward, you'll give them hope, your other friends will know you'll come through for them and they too will muster the courage to stand up.. And its only fitting, the one to lead to save this town is you. Ponyville needs you"
"I.. I.. i don't know.. w-what i-" Celestia cut her off "You will not fail, you have your friends.. they'll help you.. and our men will know you won't stir them wrong" she gulps as she muster up abit of her courage, her friends giving her supporting looks with rainbow flexing her fore hoof with a grin. "Of.. of course Princess.. I'l.. no.. we'll wait for your signal and outflank and attack Silverwing's main unit". "Good, everypony ready?" they gave a deafening shout. "Arlight. Let's move out, prepare yourselves and let us march out of there!!. Now any volunteers for Twilight's unit?"
Twilight went to her friends fidgeting nervously as the princess discuss further plans with their men. "I don't really know about this.. I don't know if i can handle leading an attack.." Rainbow flew over and wrap her wing around her re-assuringly "Don't sweat it egghead, you're not alone. We'll be there to make sure those guys don't fall back" AJ rolls her eyes "What she's trying to say that ya're not going on this alone, we're here for ya." earning a smile from the unicorn "Thanks girls." they hugged and separated, giving a confident look "ok Girls, ready?" they give a resounding Yeah! With a nod "Ok, lets do it!"
[The Skirmish with Silverwing]
The area is the wide open fields separating ponyville and Everfree forest, a large overhead view of the area. To the south some trees from the woodtail woods can be seen. Luna's voice rang softly "everypony in position? .. good. Let us make our move." and with that, Luna's unit appear alongside dark pegasi units unto the battlefield facing westward "Silverwing, by the Equestrian army. I command ye to yield!" 3 heavily armed griffon units appear on the west side facing her, the lead unit carrying the flag with the crest of the griffin kingdom. It's commander barked back, "Come faced us in battle have you petty princess? And here i thought you don't have nerve. Atleast now i can revel at the joy of taking your head." boasted Silverwing. "Come face me coward!" her unit then advanced forward "Come, I dare you!" the griffon chuckle "Verily well then Princess, I will." [Campaign start]
SIlverwing's main unit advances forward flying ahead and stopping, his other units stayed put. The Therstal units advances into positions behind their leader as Luna adjust her position by advancing to an adjacent spot, Luna whisper to her soldiers "wait, draw hiim closer and when i say so.. give the signal to Twilight." a soldier saluted "yes maam"
Silverwing's unit moved forward, nearing the forest and getting closer, Luna's therstal units move to the both side of her as Luna's own unit stay put and wait more,
When Silverwing's moved forward closer to lunas, she gave the go ahead. "Now!" a lone unicorn unit appear just south of Silverwings. From the unit Rainbow Dash spoke up "That's the signal, ok egghead, let him have it!" Twilight nodded "Ok everypony, We're a unicorn unit, we don't need to get to close, move out of the forest and cast a simple attack, spell. Go!" Her unit moved out the forest and targeted Silverwing, before he could even react. The unicorn soldiers in Twilight's unit aswell as herself cast a potent magic burst. Hitting Silverwing's men, 5-6 griffons were injured and fell down unconscious and wounded. Silverwing gawked "Wh-what?! an ambush? Impossible!" Griffon unit captain spoke up from the units that stayed behind "There is more of them, reinforcements, lets run away!" with that they both disappear from the field. "Come Back here cowards!" He boomed, but grunts and growls in annoyances "Damn you cursed ponies, you haven't won yet!" with that his own unit retreated, disappearing too. "Huzzah, victory!" Luna shouted as the men cheered. Twilight couldn't help but smile "I can't believe it, we won!"
Victory! - Enemy commander withdrawn
