Chapter 1
In the unconscious mind of Kasper Makarov, all that could be seen was nothing and darkness. Not an unusual dream for Kasper nothing really happens at his lab station so his subconscious brain doesn't have much to work with while dreaming. But this night he had an actual dream. Out of darkness came light, from light came shapes, And from shapes came surroundings and an environment. He looked around his surroundings, he was on a large ice berg it was about 40 feet tall but with a flat top. Someone could easily mistaken the ice berg for an island, below he could see a storm accruing down on the ocean's surface but the ice berg he was on seamed to not be affected by the storm's wrath. On the ocean's surface he could see hundreds upon thousands of ice flows as far as the eye could see.
"Hey kiddo" Said a kind but adventurous voice.
Kasper spun around to see a woman sitting on one of the meany rocks that lay the ice berg's flat surface. Once Kasper saw the woman almost simultaneously thousands of happy memories started to flood back,but just for an instant. A once black void in his heart was filled with warmth and happiness, but just like the memories it vanished within an second.
"Mom" Said Kasper while trying to suppress his tears.
"Yup its me" Said Kasper's mother.
Kasper ran up to his mom and hugged her. She smelled of fresh cold water and sea salt. Her hair was smooth and silky. Her skin was soft but rough at the same time, she was cold but warm. Every thing he had remembered of her was still there.
"Mom...how did you ....I don't even?...." Stuttered Kasper.
"Kasper how I got here is not important, the reason I am here is" Said Kasper's mother lovingly.
Kasper pulled away and said,
"Mom why are you here, not to be mean or anything but....shouldn't you be in a better place?" Kasper looked around and then turn to his mother,
"Wheres dad?"
Kasper's mom look up into the sky and said,
"Your father is in a better place,he has no more duty's he must fulfill, unlike me."
"But mom your life was a happy one, why would you not be at peace?"
Kasper's mother looked back at him with ambitious eyes and said,
"Kasper, I have one more duty I must fulfill."
Kasper nit his eyebrows in confusion. He did not know why his mom wouldn't be in heaven or were ever spirits go to live forever. Was there something that she never did? Was it something she did do? Kasper then came up with a conclusion.
"Mom was the reason you did not rest in peace was that you died on that mountain range with out seeing me again?"
"No Kasper, I died doing what I loved and I was happy to see you to do what you loved no matter what" Said his mother
"Oh" Kasper said thoughtfully. He had had ran out of ideas of why his mother was here,but apparently those reasons did not matter to what the news his mother had.
"Kasper,son, I have news that will change your life forever, and it will put me at peace."
Once hearing this, he then turn his attention from his feet to his mother and said,
"What news, is it bad?, is it good?"
"To you yes it is good. But what you chose to do while fulfilling your destiny will affect two worlds drastically." Said his mother in a warningly tone.
"So what is it?" Said Kasper with eagerness in his voice.
"Come, sit, and I will tell you" Said his mom while she patted a spot next to her on the rock she was sitting on. Kasper walked over to the rock and sat down on it. His mother then started to speak of the news that he needed to know.
"Kasper, When you have dreams of Antarctica the dream means that in life no matter what it throws at you, you will over come it even if the odds are stacked against you. To dream of Antarctica, means you have and you will brave the harshest conditions the world has to offer."
"Your journey will be tough and ruthless,but no matter what happens never give in, never give up, NEVER."
"The fate of two worlds hang in the balance of your choices and actions,chose your path wisely."
Kasper then spoke up and said,
"What if I don't want to do the journey?"
His mom looked him in the eye and said sternly,
"You have no chose. You will take this journey its your destiny. Your the only one who can,the only one how is not evil or good. Your netrual you have no sides, no view points , you are the only person that can completely turn humanly good or evil."
"After you are sent to your journey's start, your path is what ever you chose."
Kasper was in shock. He never thought of himself as a someone. He always thought of himself as that internet meme "Forever Alone". His mother then touched his forehead and a sea-foam green color light encased his body and as quickly as it came it evaporated in to water particles. Kasper said in awe,
"What the heck was that?"
His mother smiled warmly and said,
"I have gifted you. The gift will ad you on your journey but do not abuse your power."
"Cool, what does it do?"Said Kasper.
"You'll find out in time my son.You must wake for your journey now,You will find everything you will need for the journey in your station."
Kasper then jumped up and protested,
"Wait! Mom,will I see you again? Will we talk again? Please don't leave!!"
"Once you fulfill your destiny I will be at peace,but remember I will always be with you in your heart."said his mother while she dissipated.
"Mom,MOM NO!!" He screamed but then every thing dissolved in to dust. He heard a sound like water being poured 50 feet from a large bucket and hitting the ground. Then he woke up.
He woke early in the morning but something was off, he did not see the sun through his windows. He looked at the clock on his nightstand, the clock showed that the time was 1:00 AM. He then heard a loud Thunk hit his station house,He now knew that his station was caught in a blizzard.He got dressed and walked into his kitchen then he saw something shiny and metallic on his table. He went over to his table to find a cobalt blue amour and helmet. But what really surprised him was a metal object that lay out of its sheath.It was a sword.
Kasper put on the amour that lay on the table, attached his sheath to his belt but before he sheathed his sword he picked it up and got a good look at it. The sword was a Navel Cutlass that had a slight curve to it, the thought of the sword being curved made him chuckle because he remembered a Skyrim meme "See those Warriors from Hammerfell, they got curved swords.CURVED.SWORDS." he then snapped out of is thoughts and turned his attention to the amour he was wearing and the Cutlass. The sword was balanced perfectly in his hand it felt like nothing and its hilt was made out of what looked like a narwhal's tusk. His amour was well fitted to his body and his helmet fit perfectly like it was apart of his head. The helmet did not move when he did so he could see everything with out the helmet obscuring his vision. His attention then turned to the flickering lights and a sudden temperature change. He then realized what caused the lights to flickering and the heat to turn off,his generators were shutting down from the blizzard.
"Crap"Said Kasper while turning to the door.
He faced the door and put on his snowboarding goggles under his helmet and stared at out the door's small port-hole window. He knew what he had to do,Kasper had to go out in to the blizzard and thaw out the generators.Then Kasper opened the door and stepped out in to the snow and ice.
