Teach me how to fly

Soaring through the light blue sky, leaving a beautiful trail of rainbow, was the cyan Pegasus. The mare chuckled as she felt the wind dance in her mouth and ruffle her feathers.

She felt the clouds embrace her and tickle the tips of her feathers when she flew by or into them. Except for storm clouds. They give a threating but thrilling scare which usually exited the dare devil. Other times the storm clouds would be mean and ruff. Rain clouds would usually wrap the pony in a thin layer of water droplets, which was always amazingly refreshing.

The giant balls of floating fluff spun as the Pegasus flew past, tickling her wings.

Rainbow Dash settled onto a pure white cloud and looked below her. The sight which might scare fearful ponies took her breath away. She was so high up and so free.

As the cyan mare soaked up the warm rays of Celestia's sun and closed her eyes to take a quick nap she heard a high pitched giggle.

Rainbow shot her eyes open and glanced next to her to see the random, pink, crazy maned pony, Pinkie Pie.

Tied around the mares waist was a bunch of multi coloured balloons which lifted her from the ground.

Rainbow pondered on how Pinkie knew she was on this exact cloud and in this exact place in the sky.

"Hi Dashie!" The mare said gleefully, snapping Dash out of her thoughts.

"You are so random." Rainbow replied with a chuckle.

After a moment the pink mare placed her hooves on the cloud surface.

"I didn't know that walk-on-cloud spell still works, I mean, shouldn't it have worn off by now?" Dash asked with a confused look on her face.

"Oh, it has. I think. Well you don't see our friends walking around on clouds so I guess we will never know." Pinkie replied, still beaming.

The multi-coloured mare passed it off as 'Pinkie being Pinkie'.

After a few moments silence, Pinkie spoke.

"Rainbow Dash can I ask you something?" Pinkie asked, walking over and lying down next to her.

"Of course Pinks, anything."

"Dashie......can you teach me how to fly?"

The rainbow Pegasus sat up straight and looked at the pink pony with confusion. After a moment of awkward silence Pinkie's smile turned to mirror Dash's confused expression and the Pegasus fished for something to say.

"Uhm...What?" the mare replied, breaking the ever lasting silence.

"Can you teach me how to fly? Please, please please, please, please?" The mare pleaded, pushing her snout into the pegasi's.

After the optimistic party pony settled down Rainbow Dash looked down at her wings and gave them a flap.

"Uhh, wings?"

The hopeful smile deflated into a miserable frown and the colour vanished from her face.

"Oh..."

"Sorry. I wish I could Pinks." Dash replied and gave Pinkie Pie a squeeze.

"Well, can I ask you something else then?" Pinkie said.

Rainbow replied with a "sure", biting her lip for failing to conceal her uncertainty.

"What is it like to fly?" She asked, looking up with icy blue eyes full of hope and curiosity.

Rainbow Dash beamed. "It is like, the most amazing thing ever!" The cyan pony explained, throwing her hooves into the air.

"So like, Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Party's all in one?"

"Better."

"Imagine spreading your huge feathered wings and tasting the wind in your mouth as you float above everything around you!" The mare explained, galloping around the cloud with her wings spread wide as Pinkie copied her, giggling the whole time.

"Then the wind pushes your hair back and you feel this unbelievable sensation of all the best things of your life all suddenly happening all at once."

Rainbow stopped and flapped her wings, mimicking the wind.

"This is amazing!" Pinkie squealed as the flapping of Rainbow's powerful wings blew breeze through her mane.

"That isn't even the start of it!" Dash chuckled.

"As you fly by the clouds, they tickle your wings and embrace you." Pausing, the Pegasus shot Pinkie Pie an evil grin before tickling her, sending the pink mare into a fit of giggles.

"When you look down you see the world below you and the sensation of freedom overwhelms you. It's awesome!"

The pink mare beamed and gasped with wonder.

The two peeked over the edge of the fluffy cloud and awed at the sight.

"When you fly high enough, into the right spot, you can see all of Equestria, right under your hooves and wings." Dash said lightly into Pinkie's ear which made her giggle and awe all over again.

"Thank sounds so FAB-MAZINLY-AWESOMELY- COOL CAKES!!" The party mare squealed and started jumping around the cloud.

"And the beds!" Rainbow added before falling onto her back and giggling as Pinkie fell down next to her.

"Can you imagine sleeping on fluff for a bed, hovering high in the sky?!"

The exited, pink mare let out a squee and pulled the Pegasus into a bear hug.

"Thank you Rainbow Dash!" Pinkie whispered and wiped a tear from her eye.

Rainbow Dash didn't understand.

"Your welcome but what did I do?"

The pink mare looked deep into her magenta eyes and smiled thankfully.

"You taught me how to fly silly!" Pinkie laughed and stood at the edge of the cloud. With a chuckle, she closed her eyes and felt the breeze flow in her mane and imaginary wings.

"You know, flying is different from floating from balloons and popping up in random places at random times during random moments."

"I can only imagine." Dash chuckled.

The two embraced each other in a long, thankful hug before they sat watching the world below them.

"Hey Pinkie, can I ask you something?" Rainbow said nervously and wrapped a comforting wing around the mare which put a light blush on both their faces.

"Sure!"

Rainbows blush grew harder and she exhaled heavily.

"Since I taught you how to fly....do you think you can teach me how to cook?"

"Of course!"
