//------------------------------// // Chapter #2 Don't Waste Energy! // Story: Techies Nights At Freddy's // by GodOfBBQ //------------------------------// As Techie sat in his seat and periodically checked on the tablet to see if the robots were still there, even though he didn't need to since they were turned off. "3:00 AM, and nothing to do for 3 full hours!" Techie rubbed his temples on account of getting a small migraine. "And I think I need an aspirin." He said with an annoyed tone. He would periodically check the hallways with the lights, check the tablet to see the cameras, and repeat. He did almost anything to pass the time, he even went as far to read a porno magazine. He checked the clock on the wall and it said 5:45. "Well, shift's almost over! That wasn't so bad." Techie said putting away his copy of Playcolt magazine. As he checked the hallways and tablet once more he heard a strange noise, he checked the tablet once more and saw something chilling. He saw Chica, Bonnie, and Freddy all looking towards the camera. "W-what the hell! Th-they weren't like that earlier!" He quickly put away the tablet but as he was doing so, he heard something very odd. It sounded like a deep voice going 'Dum dum dum' He quickly checked the tablet once again and saw something terrifying, it was Bonnie in the hallway near where Techie was. "What the fu-" before he could finish his sentence he heard another noise that sounded like knocking on glass. He turned on the hallway light to see Bonnie peeking in through the door. "Gah!" Techie screamed as he quickly shut the door. Leaving the robot to itself. He checked the tablet once more to see that Bonnie wasn't in its original place. Only Chica and Freddy were in their area, still staring. As he waited he saw on the cameras the door unlock from Camera Lens turning a key to open it. Techie then switched to the hallway camera to see if he could find Bonnie but he couldn't find it anywhere. He then switched to the stage camera where the robots stood. They were all there, still looking at the camera. As Techie was cleaning up Camera Lens knocked on the glass to let Techie know to let him in. "Hey buddy, you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost or something." He said casually as he set his saddle and lunchbox on the table in front of them. "Camera, um is it normal to have the robots wonder around at night?" Camera Lens's head quickly shot up, he thought of a little fib to tell the new employee. "Uh... Yeah, see it wasn't long ago when the robots got a new software update, since it's known to glitch up sometimes they tend to turn on by themselves and wonder a bit is all. Sorry if the boss forgot to tell ya about that." Camera said as he pulled out some magazines and his breakfast. "Yeah, th-that's fine, it's just that it kinda spooked me a bit." Techie said packing up his things, it didn't take him long however, he didn't pack much so he was out the doors in less than five minutes. Techie was still thinking of what happened earlier that morning, but he was too tired to continue thinking about it, so he went straight home. As he entered the entrance to the apartments he stayed in, he ran into Nectar. "Oh, hey Nectar." Techie said yawning a small yawn. "Hello Techie!" She said in her usual chipper voice, how Techie loved that voice. "So how was your first night at Freddy's?" Techie got very serious but he didn't want to sound annoyed so he disguised his attitude as a tired one. "Hey, Nectar... I'm real tired and I just need some sleep, okay?" He said looking her in the eyes. She did look a bit disappointed but she quickly shook it off with her regular mood. "Oh, okay Techie! Just let me know when you want to do something. Okay?" This surprised Techie, could the girl of his dreams really be asking him out? "Oh, sure thing Nectar!" Techie replied sounding more energized at this point. He rushed upstairs to his door. He opened it to see everything as he left it, boxes and everything else scattered around. He was known to be a bit unorganized back in college. He plopped his saddlebag on the floor and slumped on his couch. He rested his eyes and doing so, ending up falling asleep. Two hours later Techie woke up with his gaze locked onto the stack of papers that his old friend gave him. He reached his arm over and grabbed the stack shifting through them. He finally found the last page but this one was completely different from the other ones. Techie read aloud, "1987, child is found with fatal injuries in the famous Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. The accident occurred when one of the robotic mascots bit the child's muzzle off, the child is in critical condition and was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. The restaurant is scheduled for a safety inspection tomorrow morning." This made Techie gasp at the news, how could this have happened and the place is still open? Many more thoughts ran through Techies mind. He didn't want to go to work that night, especially after learning what happened long ago. But he knew that he only had a few days to go, if he played it safe and cool, he would be out of Manehatten faster than you could say 'Damn'. "Ugh, 9:00 PM. Three more hours to go." Techie said as he looked at a near clock, he figured that maybe he had enough time to work on his personal invention that he built in his parents honer. It was a small black case that had buttons on one side and a screen that showed the numbers in a digital font. Techie called it a phone and what he hoped for it to do is for it to help ponies all around the world talk to each other and not be in the same room. He used his magic to connect two small blue wires and one small red wire together. He wasn't making this thing just to become famous or be very wealthy, he just wanted to have his fathers dream live on. The time really passed, he realized that it was 11:30. He had to go, even though he didn't want to. As he walked the streets of Manehatten he saw what you would usually see at this time of night. Homeless ponies, drug dealers, and shady ponies altogether. Finally he made it to the pizzeria. "11:50, I made it." Techie said checking his watch. He rushed to the doors and used his employee key to open the two doors. He passed the stage with all the robotic mascots still in their original positions. He walked down the hallways and reached the small security room where he saw Camera Lens reading a book. Techie knocked on the glass getting Cameras attention. "Hey buddy!" Camera said putting his book away. "Hey Camera, how was the shift for ya?" Techie said setting a small bag down. "Eh, nothing special. That's for sure." Camera said laughing a bit. "Yeah, so any weird things happen with the robots?" Techie asked. "Uh, no. Not that I'm aware of. Oh, hey listen due to engineering problems there is now an energy limit. It is set to 99% full, but the problem is, is that it runs out faster depending how long you keep the doors down, and using the tablet a lot. So in short, don't waste energy kid." Camera said as he started walking out the door of the small room. Techie understood the problem, things like energy problems can happen it wasn't rare. It didn't take Camera Lens to pack his things and leave. Five minutes later once again, Techie was alone in the dimly lit room. "Celestia help me." Techie said under his breath. Like the night before he checked the tablet and the hallways periodically, but when he checked the pirate cove camera it nearly made him jump out of his seat. He saw a mascot he's never seen before. It looked like a fox, but it had an eye patch and a hook for a hand. It was peaking right at the camera while it parted the curtains and stared at the camera. He quickly glanced at the power icon on the lower bottom of the screen. "84%, so far so good." Techie said trying to calm himself down. But when he checked pirate cove again, he nearly had a panic attack. The fox robot was in an arched position looking like it was ready start running a marathon. "What the hell!" Techie said with a nervous and angry tone. He quickly closed both doors, fearing that the fox would advance on both sides. He checked the camera once more, the robot wasn't in pirate cove anymore, Techie scrambled to find where the fox went until he checked the hallway camera where he saw the fox running, not just jogging but sprinting to the security door. Techie then heard loud bangs on the metal door. Techie was trying his best to stay out of sight of the fox who was trying to peak through the glass window, that was another thing that worried Techie. If that window was just glass then what if the robot could smash through it? He was breathing heavily, he could hear the gears grinding and turning in the bot. A few minutes passed until Techie thought it was safe to peek his head up, he checked the tablet to see the curtains closed with the fox's eye peeking through. He put his hoof over his chest trying to feel his pulse, he checked the bottom to the energy bar, it read 42%. Techie got worried, it was only 4:54 and he had a little but of power left, but he didn't feel safe lifting the doors. He was too worried the fox might return. "5:55, almost over." Techie said with a very worried tone, but he didn't bother to check the power bar. 2% of power was left, Techie had no choice to to lift one of the doors but he sill kept the left door closed. Suddenly everything shut off and Techie was caught off guard. The doors lifted, the light turned off and he could check the tablet. Then he heard something very chilling. It sounded like carousel music or like a music box tune. Techie then noticed a glowing face in the doorway. Techie was frozen, he had no idea what the face was coming from or why the face was there. The music kept going ad the face kept staring, Techie was whispering a prier under his breath. "Hey! Techie!" A voiced called out. It sounded like Camera Lens, Techie then saw the face quickly vanish as he heard rapid sounding stepping down the hall. Techie checked his watch. 6:01, he had made it.
