//------------------------------// // 1- A short prologue // Story: Switching lives for a day // by Gamer X //------------------------------// Chapter One: The Switch. The sun rose in the distance. Little bright colors of sunlight exploded from the darkness and served as a harsh wake up call for the Apple family. Applejack tossed and turned heavily within the covers of her bed sheets. She yawned softly as she felt strong rays of sunlight slap her face. The work pony finally mustered the strength to force both her eyes open. Her eyelids both struggled to remain open and they imeadiately clamped shut. Applejack had a feeling she had better find some way to wake herself before she stayed like this all morning. So she stood up and walked into the hallway that led into the bathroom. Applejack entered the restroom and the light source caused her to flinch and automatically shut her face away with her two fore-hooves. The bathroom light blinded her, but slightly woke the work pony up. She yawned and tiredly rubbed her eyes. She looked up and smacked her lips lazily. She expected to look into a mirror and see the sleepiness in her expression, but instead she saw the bottom of her bathroom sink. Confused, Applejack shook her head. She closed her eyes to wake herself up, then opened them again. When they opened she still saw the bottom of the sink, which was not possible due to her being a full-grown mare. "Applejack! What's takin so long!" Granny Smith spoke in her impatient morning voice. "A-Ahm almost done!" Applejack screamed, but her voce came out quieter than usual. A lot squeakier she had to admit, her voice mimicked a young filly's voice in fact. "Well. Then hurry it up, ya already missed half of breakfast--" But before the older mare could complete her sentence, Applejack slammed the bathroom door in her Granny's face and ran downstairs. "Ungrateful filly!" Granny muttered loudly, hoping Applejack had heard, but unfortunately the work pony hadn't. At the breakfast table sat two ponies. One was Macintosh, her older stallion brother. And the second one was a mare, she had a red mane and a yellow coat. The question that ran throughout her mind was who was this mare and what was she doing in their kitchen? Wait a minute... where's Apple Bloom? Applejack thought silently as she glanced up towards her older brother. She gave him a look, hoping he could give her a reassuring smile, but instead received nothing, but a sly smirk. It looked almost like he was laughing, but about what. "Mornin!" The mare exclaimed, Applejack could notice the joyfulness in the mare's voice. "Good morning... Ms..." Applejack replied with a fake smile. Big Macintosh burst out laughing. His face turned bright red, but thanks to his red coat, it hadn't been noticable. Big Macintosh pointed to Apple Bloom and smirked, then at Applejack and laughed some more. Apple Bloom and Applejack both gave Big Mac an annoyed look and then the two said. "Big Macintosh. Who is she?" They looked at each other. Apple Bloom scratched her head, trying to place a hoof on where she had seen this pony before. Applejack looked around, and found her hat sitting on her chair. She put the hat on her head and watched as it fell and covered the majority of her face. "APPLEJACK!" The mare shrieked, her voice recognizable to Applejack. It was Apple Bloom, only her voice was slightly deeper, and more mature sounding. "Apple Bloom!" Applejack screamed. "What the hay is goin' on here?" "BIG MACINTOSH!" They both screamed as they looked towards their older brother angrily. "Ah swear ah had nothin' to do with any of this..." He laughed, but his smile made his statement unbelievable. "Okay... Ah promise ah had nothin' to do with any of this." He replied in a more serious, and deep voice. Both Apple Bloom and Applejack exchanged glances. They sighed unhappily and sat down at the breakfast table. After Granny shortly joined the three they all began to eat and Apple Bloom broke the silence throughout the room. "So. What now Granny? What am ah supposed to do now? Ah am a full grown mare and Applejack's a little filly." Apple Bloom pointed out, causing Applejack to choke on her glass of apple juice. "I don't know, but maybe you too can have each other's life for a day..." Granny Smith suggested with a smile. "What do ya think Big Mac. Sound fair to ya?" The silent stallion replied with a simple spoken. "Eeyup." "So what do ya'll say?" Granny Smith asked the filly and mare that finished the remains of their breakfast. Applejack had a worried look on her face. She just had a feeling everything was going to go wrong, but eventually she had to give an answer and nodded. "Just for a day." She said shaking her older sister's hoof. Apple Bloom beamed happily and nearly jumped out of her seat, but instead she nodded and gave a simple smile that hid the new mare's excitement. "Oh boy. This most certainly can't go wrong at all..." Applejack thought as Apple Bloom took her sister's bow and followed Big Macintosh outside. The mare swayed her body gently, and smiled confidently. Her mane covered a small portion of her forehead just like Applejack's. She waved goodbye to her grandmother and younger sibling and departed into the many acres of apple trees. Applejack made her way to the door, but was stopped by a wrinkly hoof. Applejack looked up and saw her grandmother look down at her with a smile. "Where do ya think yer going missy!" Granny Smith asked eyeballing the filly. "Apple buckin of course. Mah job, remember?" Replied in her child-like voice. Granny Smith shook her head. "Oh no!" The wiser and older mare began. "There is much more to get done around here. And yer just the yellew belly for the job!" She grabbed Applejack's forearm and dragged her into the kitchen. Causing the filly to sigh, praying quietly that this would hopefully end soon.
