//------------------------------// // Rainbow luncheon save and plan // Story: FlutterSoar // by JackleBee //------------------------------// Rainbow luncheon save and plan Rainbowdash heard a small squeak, she turned away from the wide eyed tortoise. Whirling, she saw her dear friend Fluttershy, squished and slumped under her racing friend, Soarin. A tiny "help" was heard. She froze, and her eye pupils shrunk ten fold, she crouched angrily, nose puffing. Soarin saw this and achingly craned his neck towards the dumbstruck rainbow maned pony. He gave out a sheepish giggle as he stumbled to get off the fair frozen pastel pony. "Ahh.. heh heh... heh! We are-" Soarin slipped and his head landed on Fluttershy's belly. He cursed himself for his own stupidity: Argh! Soarin, you fool, you pie-loving-fluttershy-admirer idiot! It wasn't we, it was me! Now I'm dead for sure! Soarin then in a spark of light, placed his hooves behind himself and catapulted himself up into the air, he continued to ramble helplessly to the still shocked Rainbowdash. "R-R-Rainbowdash- I didn't mean anything- it was nothing" he scratched his head and he fluttered slowly to the ground, gingerly he mumbled "i-i-it was an accident" his hooves touched the ground and raised them towards Rainbowdash to calm her shock. "I stepped on a puddle and I just couldn't do anything- I tried to fly but then I crashed into Fluttershy after I walked into that puddle!" He pointed at the area where the puddle was. It was gone. Soarin looked at the puddle then at the slowly stalking Rainbowdash that was beckoning on him. He kept looking back and forth in a frantic frenzy, a thought raced through his mind: It was there! I promise it was there! Soarin then heard a small 'eep!' and both Rainbowdash and Soarin straightened up and looked at the messy yet fragile pink maned pony. Unknowingly, Soarin flew towards her, heat rising to his cheeks, he knew how silly it was that there were less than two meters apart. He picked her up by the shoulders. The frail pony pressed her chin towards her chest. "Fluttershy! Are you okay? I didn't mean it on purpose! Your not hurt are you?" Rainbowdash frowned at him and pushed him aside. "Soarin, you-" she shook her head, "I have never seen you as klutzy as this- you usually would just jump and quickly apologize." She pet the cowering Fluttershy, "not look like you have never seen a pony in your entire life!" Soarin shrunk, I can't believe I hurt Fluttershy for my stupidity- there goes my chances... he gave her a worried eye and retorted. "I-I-It was an accident Rainbowdash! I didn't mean to!" He looked at her earnestly as he pawed the ground with his hoof, "well, you know how it is, remember the Olympics- I broke my wing- I'm a klutz" he paused, and flexed his muscles, he waggled his eyebrows and hissed, "I'm a manly klutz!" Rainbowdash hoof palmed herself. Soarin walked towards the shaking pony, her hair had draped itself over the pretty pony. He slowly moved a shaking hoof towards her face, and parted her hair gingerly. His heart thumped as he saw the soft cyan eyes appear from behind the cotton-pink silk-like hair. He looked into the deep black pools of her pupils, it felt like a millenia before she answered in a whispery voice: "I-I-I'm okay... I'm fine.. Soarin'" Soarin inched towards her. "Y-You know my name?" Rainbowdash exasperated, scowled. "Ugh, Soarin, come on! Fluttershy isn't as pie-headed as you! Of course she remembers you from the Olympics! In fact" Rainbowdash rolled eyes in annoyance, "she commented on your" she raised her hooves, "bravery for your racing!" Crossing her forelegs, she added in triumphantly, "but that's just Fluttershy, we all know I was faster anyway!" And with that, the Rainbow maned pegasus fell to the ground laughing. Soarin rolled his eyes, he turned back to the pastel colored pony. Fluttershy's hair glimmered in the sun like polished and well groomed silk, and her eyes crystalline pools of cyan-turquoise hues. Soarin scratched his head, and thought: Well, I might as well make up to things so at least we can be on good terms... he looked forlornly to the side. At least that's where it will always be... not after what I did. He brushed his hooves through his mane lightly, tightly closed his eyes and burst with a genuine smile. Soarin raised a hoof towards the frail pony whom he adored. "Listen... I'm sorry we may not have had a good start-" he looked away, he remembered something: this wasn't the first time I met her! I saw at the wedding and Olympics! he returned his gaze at the patiently smiling pony, and his heart fluttered joyously. "Well, we did meet- but not like, in person...so-" he ushered a small laugh, "I guess it's only fair that we get on good terms- sorry for crashing into you and scaring you like that..." he turned his head away dramatically, "I understand that you still hold a grudge on me... but" he veered up to her, eyes wide and teary, "will you forgive me?" Fluttershy's mouth was open slightly, she thought quietly to herself, oh... how could I ever hold a grudge for him or anybody! She placed a gentle hoof on his, her smile bright and rejuvenating. "Oh Soarin, I could never hold a grudge against you or anybody for that matter!" she looked at him with understanding, and continued, "I know it was an accident- and I'm glad you thought kindly enough to apologize." Soarin smiled, he felt his heart grow wings, and his joy was fluttering in his chest. Oh.. why is she so sweet! Fluttershy looked at him smiling at her with caring eyes. She blushed and cowered to the depths of her long wavy fair hair. Rainbowdash saw the two, she looked at them with narrow eyes, in quick speed she took quick steps backward towards Soarin. She looked at the two's glued gaze. This is weird. Really weird. Rainbowdash pushed a hard smile, putting an arm around Soarin she excused them both, "well... since this whole problem is finished..." she dragged Soarin away from the confused, yet wide innocently wide eyed Fluttershy. Her rainbow friend continued, " it's only safe to say that this has been a great meeting for you two, and we both have to get something for supper-" she shook her heard, "I mean lunch!" Soarin struggled against hair, head turned back green eyes looking at Fluttershy wonderingly. Rainbowdash gave a forced smile again, "so.. bye-bye!" and with a quick wave, to Fluttershy, she and Soarin were gone, leaving a rainbow trail behind them. Fluttershy sighed to herself and thought dreamily and sadly: Oh... he was such a sweet pony- I hope he and Rainbowdash have a fulfilling lunch... She looked forlornly to her evergreen cottage. They could have always had lunch with me... . . . Soarin was flying after her, his speed reeling the energy out of his wings, Soarin unable to call her, shouted at the small cyan-rainbow made figure above. "Rainbowdash! Why did you drag me away from her!" Rainbowdash looked back, she frowned while thinking, her eye pupils shrunk in fear of what to say. What to do! What to say, what to say! I can't ask Rarity! Not in front of him... Soarin isn't as dumb as I would suspect... Everybody knows the top gossip that she's the ultimate love master She looked back and gave an uneasy, wobbly smile. "I did it because you looked like you were... about to faint!" She flew farther towards the little town of Ponyville, the wooden houses and their soft colors glowing in the lime light of the sun, she looked back and a thought struck her head, she gave a cheeky smile as the confused eyes of Soarin, and jostled, "well, I also forgot to tell you that I had a meeting with Rares tomorrow so since that's the event, I thought we could give Fluttershy some time to prepare for her colt-sitting tomorrow." Rainbowdash somersaulted in the air and landed on a mushroom chair. Ponies looked at her in shock and awe, and the trees rustled in greeting as Soarin stormed after her, taking a seat across from her. Soarin inched his neck toward his friend, "you lied to me?" A butler looked at him quizzically, as he handed them the black embroiled menus. Soarin payed no attention, but Rainbowdash looked at the menu closely while scratching her chin, she turned back to Soarin, eyes curious. "Hey, so I'll explain later- let's get some grub for now. What do you want?" As she said this, she tossed him a menu that lay on the mushroom table. It bounced and landed on his face, he frowned and slowly sighed as he looked towards the sky. He opened the menu to look through it's contents. Heh, if Rainbow doesn't tell me after lunch- I'm going explode. But... let's see here... He traced the fancy words with his hooves. Morning Glory afternoon meal: Morning glory salad and sandwich with mint fondue Hay fries Daffodil and daisy sandwich Lemon tarts Onion-horse-shoe rings Lunch salad Caramelized apple slices with carrot cake Zap apple flambe (NOT IN SEASON) Oatmeal with raspberries Strawberry sorbet Lemon sorbet Blueberry sorbet Rainbowdash eyed the waiter, she handed him her menu and asked, "got anything special today?" she tapped her cheek, "like you know, the haystack sandwich-bread-burger?" The waiter looked up thoughtfully as he twirled his fine line mustache. "Well, we do have the hay-fries burger topped with baked beans and celery sides..." he looked down at her apologetically, " but we do not have the haystack sandwich-bread-burger, that you wish for." Rainbowdash slumped down. "Fine, well thanks anyway- I'll take it." Soarin looked at the waiter, he twirled his hooves and smiled sweetly. "Got any pie on the menu?" the waiter shook his head. "You can get pie at the Apple farm- that's their specialty- we only make culinary dishes from some of their top resources, apples. But their pie, is their trade mark, apologies, sir." Soarin huffed. "Well... I'll take one of those caramelized apple slices with that carrot cake." The waiter nodded, and repeated the orders. "We have the hay fries burger topped with baked beans and celery sides, and we have the caramelized apple slices with a slice of carrot cake," he looked at the both of them, "would like some appetizers of some sort- or salads?" The two shook their heads, the waiter smiled politely, "okay then, we will bring your order in shortly, should you need any needs with our catering, don't hesitate to ask." With that, the waiter walked away. Soarin turned back to Rainbowdash, his eyes in disbelief, "I don't believe you, you said you were free during my whole leave!" Rainbowdash scratched her head. "Well... Flutter-" Rainbowdash paused, maybe I should ask Twilight to analyze him first, she's single and she's probably read a lot of egg-headed books about love and psychology. Maybe do that, before I try to get me and Rarity to spy on them... she shook her head, "actually, Fluttershy I remembered is on busy animal business- as usual! So... you might have to just hang around with Twilight." She gave him a wide smile. Soarin looked down sadly. Aww... I really wanted to have lunch with Fluttershy. It would be nice to know her. He eyes drifted to the pebble on the ground. I guess, I can get to know her through her friends- she probably will be at ease and less shy if I know more about her! He smiled at the thought of a smiling Fluttershy. The platter of plates stopped his thoughts. He looked at the apple slices and the carrot cake, he sighed. I wonder what Fluttershy's cooking would taste like... He bit into the delectable- now tasteless cake. Rainbowdash eyed him, she tapped her hooves together. Gosh, I feel real guilty... But something in my Rainbow-senses tells me something is going on with Soarin- he's acting weird. But... I can't belive I'm going to do this... but I'm going ask Rares about this and send Soarin to Twi to see if he is... in some kind of ... spell.. They both ate in silence for the remaining moments of lunch.
