//------------------------------// // Part 7: The Champion and The Passenger // Story: A Blind Delight // by MajorFrostwing //------------------------------// A Blind Delight Part 7: The Champion And The Passenger By: Major Frostwing Trevor awoke it had been a week since his talk with Luna both of the princesses have yet to give him any information on his predicament. He sighed moving his hand through his hair. "Come on Trevor big day today." He smiled sitting up in his bed. A knock came to the door making Trevor flinch. "Enter." The door opened to the familiar footsteps of one Cloudkicker. "Morning sleepy head." She said walking over to him grabbing his hand. "Come on let's hurry." She was very chipper and to Trevor it both made him smile and scowl at her being so chipper so early in the morning. "What's the rush Cloudkicker?" Trevor asked as he was ripped from the bed towards the door. "Isn't it obvious? Today is the sign ups for the swordsmanship tournament." Trevor was then the one pulling Cloudkicker along listening to everything around him and practically running through the halls. "Trevor slow down do you even know where you are going?" Trevor only smirked as he turned down a hallway moving past a guard patrol and out onto the streets of Canterlot. He continued to move through the groups of people he was excited which made his blood pump and his adrenaline to spike. He heard everything around him from the cobblestones crunching under his feet to the bit coins in peoples pockets. He suddenly came to a stop when he heard pencil on paper. "Hey Cloudkicker am I close to the sign up booth?" He was heaving and panting from all the running. "Yea you are how the hay did you know where it was?" Trevor only smiled. "I just knew." Cloudkicker deadpanned at him. "You just ran in a random direction didn't you?" "When you say it like that you take away all of the magic from it." He frowned at her which made her giggle. "Oh I need something before the first match comes up." They walked forward to the sign up booth. The man at the booth was finishing up some work on the last entrant. He glanced up to see Trevor and Cloudkicker. "Ahh Lieutenant Cloudkicker are you here to sign up for the tournament?." He pulled out a form ready to fill it out. "You going for the master level this time?" He asked smiling. "I'm going for advanced again need to polish my abilities before I take on the masters." She smiled looking to Trevor who was in deep thought. "But my friend Trevor is entering the tournament as well." Trevor broke out of his trance looking to her with a smirk. "Oh I will bring out a novice form." Trevor chuckled. "What are you saying you up to par with the higher ranks?" "Pull out a master entry form and begin filling it out I want a challenge." Cloudkicker was about to stop him when Trevor suddenly turned towards his right. "Well then I guess we have another challenger who wants to join the big leagues." Cloudkicker noticed who it was and saluted sharply. "Captain Shining Armor sir." Trevor raised an eyebrow to her before looking to the captain. "At ease Lieutenant." The Shining looked Trevor over he didn't seem impressed but something about this man scared him. "You do know the master level battles have no dulling enchantments on the blades. Not to mention magic is allowed do you think you have what it takes to deal with all that." Shining's tone was a challenge to Trevor. "I am sorry to have to kick you off your cloud captain but I don't lose." Trevor smirked turning towards the man at the booth. "The name is Trevor I dual wield and I use no magic only skill." The captain raised an eyebrow to the strange man in front of him. "Can you sign this form saying we are not to be held responsible for any injury." Trevor turned towards Cloudkicker who signed his name on it. "Um Lieutenant he needs to sign the paper." "Sadly I can't right now I had some eye surgery recently and I am unable to see right now she has been helping me with basic things." The judge nodded before taking back the form. "The tournament begins in one month at the Colosseum make sure you have all weapons at the ready and any gear you will be using for the tournament. If you do not have important gear before you enter you will not be able to leave the Colosseum until the tournament is over." Trevor nodded listening closely. "It allows us to monitor the contestants so no one can cheat during the tournament." "You can still back out it's not to late." Shining said smiling. "Don't insult me Captain or try to intimidate me all that matters is what you will see in the ring nothing else." Cloudkicker grabbed Trevor's hand gently. "Anyway I must get back to my training before the tournament hopefully our paths will cross in the tournament." Trevor bowed to Shining before motioning for Cloudkicker to help him leave. "That stallion won't last a single round." The judge said with a sigh. "It's a shame to see someone cut down at such a young age." "I don't think so." Shining said crossing his arms smiling. "What do you mean Captain?" "He shows no fear as if he couldn't see what horrors the world can show you." Shining shook his head. "He might make it to me if he plays his cards right." Shining turned to the judge signing his own waiver. ---------------------------------- Trevor and Cloudkicker made it back to the castle Cloudkicker was lecturing Trevor almost the entire time. "Do you have any idea what you have gotten yourself into? The group you will be fighting are all masters they would slaughter you." Trevor sat down in the center of his floor holding his cane in one hand. "Cloudkicker I am the last line of my sword style and I have mastered it making me the master." He heard the slight movement of the flower in front of him. "Now please I need you to help me prepare for this tournament and it starts with only two purchases one being a twin and the next being a flat mask designed for my face a few air holes at the mouth and 4 eyes painted on it in a cube formation." He quickly drew his blade and sheathed it in one swift motion. "And then I will be ready for the tournament." "Trevor how do you expect to pay for all of this?" Trevor sighed remembering he had no money. "God dammit I keep forgetting my money doesn't work here." He tapped the side of the flower in front of him as it fell to the table in pieces. "I need a job and make money before the tournament." He didn't know what he could do to make money he was blind after all. "How about this ask Rarity if she can help you with the mask and I will call in a favor with a friend of mine." Trevor nodded with a sigh. "Just be sure to pay me back with some of the prize money." She smiled happily crossing her arms. "If you can get me my twin I will give you all of the prize money." Trevor handed his cane to her. She took it holding the blade almost as if it would shatter at smallest movement. "I will go to my friend will you be alright without this for a few hours?" Trevor nodded seeming unnaturally calm. "I will be back soon Trevor stay out of trouble." Cloudkicker left the room being careful with Trevor's cane. Trevor sat in silence listening to his own thoughts he was going through his standard meditation to hear his surroundings and react to every sound accordingly. He heard something enter the room slowly which piqued his interest but he remained still as a statue. "Trevor are you in here?" Trevor remained still allowing the person to enter the room seeing where he sat the person sat down across from him. "Are you here to join me Princess Luna?" Trevor asked keeping his eyes closed. "I could but wouldn't that be distracting?" Trevor shook his head. "Understand to become a master swords man you have to have unbridled focus. You will not be able to disturb my meditation." Luna nodded letting her mind drift off into darkness she slumped forward almost the same time as Trevor. -------------- Trevor opened his eyes to see the darkness gone replaced by static. "Welcome back Trevor." A voice said close to his ear. Trevor turned to see a different version of himself instead of being surrounded in static he was a shadow. "And who are you?" Trevor asked crossing his arms disappointed. The shadow only smiled shrugging happily. "You know, I'm not quite sure so I am just going to say my name is Shade." Shade walked towards Trevor smiling. "Just here to find out if you can be of some use to me." Trevor turned away from Shade walking away. "Don't you even know what I want to use you for?" "Not really Shade I have better things to worry about like preparing." Shade grabbed Trevor by the shoulder yanking him backwards onto the ground. "I think you misunderstood my intentions Trevor I am going to use you how I see fit. Now then when I say bark you bark when I say fight you fight and when I say play dead you die are we clear?" Trevor tried to push Shade off but could not move. "I guess I will have to break you before you listen." Shade raised his fist about to strike Trevor when a blast of energy slammed into his side launching him away. Trevor turned to see Luna horn smoking from the discharge. "I'm glad I made it in time." Trevor nodded standing up staring down Shade. "Next time that thing won't be able to save you." Shade snapped his fingers as he disappeared into the static. "Who was that Trevor?" Luna asked to see Trevor shaking his head. "He calls himself Shade and to be honest I haven't a single thought of who or what he is." Trevor turned to look at her. "Oh I do have a favor to ask of you." Luna tilted her head in question. "Can you write up and send a letter to Rarity for me? I just need a mask made for the tournament no eye holes just a solid full face mask with 4 eyes painted on it nothing else." Luna nodded to him. "I can do this are you sure you are well enough to fight in the tournament." Trevor only smiled. "Trust me Princess it will be a few matches you will not want to miss." Trevor snapped his fingers engulfing the world in light. Trevor sat up straight taking a deep breath. Again the voice of Shade entered his mind. "I will make you my puppet boy just be ready for it." Just as quick as the voice came it left. The sound of scratching on paper alerted him to Luna's presence once again. "The letter has been sent Trevor and your specifications have been sent as well." Trevor nodded reaching for his cane before he noticed it was not in his possession. "I do have a little bit of good news and bad news." "I am listening Princess just tell me the bad news first." "Well we have no way of sending you back the magic that brought you here is a cross-dimensional magic designed as a one way ticket." "Damn that is some bad news." Trevor scratched his head thinking. "So what is the good news?" "We found out how you were brought here." Trevor face-palmed slightly annoyed. "Great so I'm stuck in this world till the end of my days." He stood stretching. "Well could be worse I guess. Thank you again Princess for informing me of how I was brought here." Luna smiled turning towards the door about to leave. "You'll come won't you?" "Excuse me?" She said looking back at him. "To the tournament are you going to see the fights?" "Of course the captain of my night guard is participating in the master level." "Then I apologize in advance Princess." A smile slowly crept on his face. "What for?" Her interest was piqued. "For embarrassing your guard with a crushing defeat." Luna looked at Trevor shocked but a creeping thought entered her mind. He can do just as he says. Luna chuckled turning back to the door. "Good luck in the tournament Trevor hopefully you are not cut down." Trevor nodded as Luna left the room leaving Trevor all alone.
