//------------------------------// // ch. 2 belt (re-written) // Story: A New World, a Fearful Way // by Votederpycausemufins //------------------------------// In an alleyway, Lea was asleep as the sun rose. Eventually, the light from the sun rise fell upon her face, waking her up. When she first looked around, the Umbreon wasn’t sure where she had ended up. Nothing looked familiar and she wasn’t sure if anything was truly real. With nothing else to tell her the answer, Lea brought her paw up to her mouth and bit it as hard as she could. Lea quickly brought her paw away and shook it in pain. With her other paw, the umbreon put pressure on where she had bitten herself to stop the bleeding she had caused. When Lea finally felt a bit better she flopped onto her back. “We did it Matrix, we finally did it!” She turned to look at her adopted brother. He smiled at her and nodded. Lea turned her head back to the sky and continued to talk. “I promise I’ll find all of you soon. No matter how long it takes, I’ll look everywhere until I have you all together again.” Lea got back up and looked to where Matrix had been. The vision was no longer there, but now that she was free, she could find the real one. The Umbreon took a few steps until she realised she had no idea of what she actually needed to do. She started to pace around, her thoughts all over the place. Finally she shook her head and tried to make a verbal list. “Let’s see… I’m an Umbreon, I’m not in the Johto region anymore, and I’m apparently on a planet called Equus. Arceus brought a whole bunch of humans here and changed them into pokemon, though not all humans were brought over. Also, it seems that ponies are mainly like humans, and until I meet more, I can’t find out if all of them are as mean as the ones I’ve met so far. “Now, I don’t know where I am on this planet, I don’t know where anyone I know is, I don’t know how ponies will act towards me and I have no idea where I can live.” Lea felt something drip on one of her front paws. It was then she realised she was crying. All the pokemon she lived with were gone, but they were all she had. Her mother died when she was little, only around the age of two. She couldn’t remember her mother’s death, but her father told her about it if she asked, even though he was reluctant to. Later, when she was only eight, she woke up to find her father missing. In his room was a note from him saying to take a pokeball he left to help take care of her until she could contact his friends for their help. Before she could see the pokemon he had left, there was a knock at her door and a few people were there, asking for her dad or mom. They tried to take her when she said they were both gone, and kept coming back again and again. Over time, Lea caught a few pokemon that became her family. She had a Quilava named Kya, a shiny Umbreon named Matrix, an Absol named Angela, a Dunsparce named Sparks, and her father’s Linoone. Even though they had always been able to stay together, Lea had always feared she would lose them like she had lost her parents. Now, they were gone, and she had no idea when she would ever find any of them again. Lea kept thinking about before when she remembered something the ponies had taken from her that she happened to end up with. She had first arrived with a belt she had made herself and always wore. She never liked carrying around the few things she needed in a small bag, so she gave the belt pockets for the things she needed. It held a picture of all her pokemon with her on the day of her sixteenth birthday a year ago. It also had a key stone implanted in it to go with a mega stone she had finally been able to buy for Angela. There were a few other objects in it as well, but she had no idea if they would still be there, especially if the ponies had messed with her belt. Then, Lea had an idea. It always seemed to be dark when the ponies first arrived. It was day now, so they shouldn’t be there now. Not knowing exactly where she had been held captive the past week, Lea randomly searched the town. From where she had slept, the umbreon ran to the left of where she exited, and took the next left that lead to a main street. Running down it, she noticed a shop that looked familiar. She stopped for a second to look at it before continuing. As she ran, she smiled. Since she remembered it, she must have past it earlier. Eventually, Lea found her old prison, or what should have been. The area was surrounded in yellow caution tape. The roof of the building was gone and so were much of the walls. what was left of the building was charred from flames and the buildings near it were slightly scorched too. Not seeing any ponies around, Lea walked into the remains of the building. She made her way into what was the small room in between the front and back areas. She had only been taken to that room specifically once. That was shortly after Ire had found her in the back. The unicorn had taken her there and took off her belt putting it in a metal chest. Since the pony didn’t realize Lea was as sentient as her, the former human saw the combination on the lock of the box and memorised it as best she could. It took Lea forever to unlock the box with her paws, but eventually she was able to open it. There were tons of collars in the box along with her belt. She took her own item, but left the box wide open so others could find it. The umbreon looked through the belt to see if there was anything missing. The area for her pokeballs were empty, but they were before everyone was sent to Equus. Besides, she barely ever used them anyway. The keystone happened to still be there, which slightly relieved her. Lea had heard of rare occurrences where trainers could find their pokemon with a key stone if they were strongly bonded. She didn’t know if the stories were real or not, or if Angela had to have a mega stone as well, but there was still hope. The picture she had was gone but another pocket with her pokeblock and her mom’s last oran berry seed were still there. she also had a music player that came with her, though it was busted. With nothing else to do in the former building, Lea fumbled to put her belt back on before leaving. She continued in the direction she had been headed to find the building to explore the town. She eventually reached a part of town which seemed to have an area of hotels. Or was it one area of many buildings for one hotel? She couldn’t decide since there were so many in just one area. Nearby, she could see a pony walking around with a book held up in front of her. She seemed to be looking ahead every one and a while to make sure there was nopony in her path, so she quickly noticed Lea. Lea was going to ask the mare for something like food or maybe somewhere to stay, but she yelled out for the police. Lea was taken aback by the yell and wanted to run. Even if they were ponies, Lea still didn’t like police. The umbreon finally ran as she saw a pony with wings like a Woobat appear from nearby. She took one glimpse at his olive Persian like eyes before she turned a corner and quickly turned again into an alley. She quickly looked around for somewhere to hide before setting her eyes on a hole into an old building where part of the wall had been broken. She held her breath as best she could when the odd pony past her. When she couldn’t here him any longer, she took the biggest breath she could to satisfy her screeching lungs. Feeling tired from running so much, and the sun starting to set, Lea laid herself down on the ground on an old fallen curtain and fell asleep.
