//------------------------------// // 10: Answers // Story: A Not So Magical Mystery Cure // by OfficialPinkaMenaX //------------------------------// Night Light looked around the train car. Twilight Velvet sat next to him starring out the window at Ponyville in the distance as sun began to set. Across from him Shining Armor was asleep with Cadence's wing around him. She was also asleep. The train went dark as it passed through the tunnel in the mountain. They would be arriving in Canterlot soon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When they arrived he walked over and woke up Shining and Cadence while Twilight Velvet quietly picked up their bags. There were only a few ponies out tonight so the walk home was quiet. No one said anything the whole way home. When they arrived they went straight to their rooms and went to sleep. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night Light felt exhausted. His wife had spent the night tossing and turning and kept him awake. After a long yawn he realized that his wife wasn't there. He looked around the room and saw his clock. It was already 11:30am. She probably already up, Night Light thought. ===================================================================== Luna paced around outside the hall for the doctor to finish talking with Celestia. She turned when she heard the door open. "So doctor what is thy prognosis?" said Luna walking over to him. Just as he was about to speak a guard came around the corner. "Princess Luna," he said taking a small bow," a pony named Twilight Velvet is demanding to see Princess Celestia." Luna took a moment before speaking. "Doctor leave us," said Luna. "I don't think you should..." said the doctor before Luna cut him off. "Geoffrey leave us," said Luna more forcefully. He sighed before turning to leave. Once around the corner Luna turned back to the guard. "Send her in," said Luna. "Right away Princess," said the guard with another bow and then ran off. Luna began to pace again. It was about a minute before she heard hoof steps. "Where is Celestia? Is she in there?" said Twilight Velvet in an angry tone pointing at the door. "Guard you are dismissed," said Luna. The guard gave a small bow before quickly walking away. "I demand to see Celestia," said Twilight Velvet who was now standing in front of Luna. "She is in there," said Luna stepping aside and pointing to the door. Twilight Velvet immediately walked toward it. I hope this is not a mistake, thought Luna as Twilight Velvet opened the door. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight Velvet opened the door and shocked by what she saw inside. Rubble and glass was everywhere along bits of metal. It was dim despite being open to the outside. Most of the columns in the room where destroyed along with several windows. At the end of the hallway Celestia sat next to a large pile of scrolls. Her mane sat along her back mostly motionless. As she got closer she noticed several drawings on the wall. They looked like drawings of Celestia and Twilight but she had never seen them before. When she finally got close enough she spoke. "How could you do this to my daughter?" said Twilight Velvet. She stood there for several seconds waiting for a reply but none came. "Why would you be so careless? My daughter is dead because of your mistake," said Twilight Velvet taking a small pause but Celestia still didn't speak," Even before she was accepted to your school she always talked about you. How great you were. How magically talented you were. How kind you were to everypony... She wanted to be just like you someday she told me." Twilight Velvet took a breath. Celestia still hadn't moved. "Only now do I see though that you never cared for my daughter," Celestia twitched but Twilight Velvet continued," You only do what suits your agenda or else why would you have done this to my daughter." Twilight Velvet was about to continue when Celestia spoke. "You don't think I cared about your daughter?" said Celestia standing up. "I was more of a mother to her then you ever were," she said turning around. She had bloodshot eyes and matted fur from where she had been crying. "I...," began Twilight Velvet but Celestia cut her off. "No. Shut up. It's my turn to speak. I was the one who taught her about the world, comforted her when she had nightmares, and inspired her to be greater. I was the first one she told about her first crush. I am the one she draws in pictures and the one she sends letters too. Tell me. When was the last time you got a letter from you daughter?" said Celestia raising an eyebrow. Twilight Velvet stared at Celestia trying to remember the last letter she got from her daughter. The longer it took the more watery her eyes got. "If you cared for her so much the why did you kill her?" said Twilight Velvet the first couple tears running down her face. "It wasn't supposed to happen," said Celestia. "Then what was?" said Twilight Velvet. "It was supposed to make her an alicorn so she would live forever because...," said Celestia mumbling at the end. "What was that?" said Twilight Velvet. "I... I loved her," said Celestia. "What?" said Twilight Velvet. "I loved her," repeated Celestia. "I you really loved her you wouldn't have put her in danger," said Twilight Velvet. "I don't think you understand what it's like to live as long as I have. To watch as everypony you know gets old and die. Then their children get old and die. Then their children and their children and so on. My only constants are Luna and Cadence. Two ponies for eternity just isn't enough. I loved Twilight and I wanted her to be with me forever," said Celestia taking a breath," I wish I could take back what happened so I could spend what little time we could have had together. Just about anything would be better than this..." Celestia turned around and sat down again. "Now that I've explained myself. Will you please leave?" said Celestia quietly. Twilight Velvet stood there for a moment before she turned around and walked towards the door. When she reached it she turned around. Celestia was still sitting there and the quiet sounds of crying could be heard. She pulled open the door and stepped out closing the door behind her. Luna was standing there waiting. "What did she say?" asked Luna stepping closer. "She loved her...," said Twilight Velvet quietly. "I see. You may go," said Luna. Luna watched as Twilight Velvet slowly walked away. Once she couldn't hear her hoof steps anymore she spoke. "Doctor you can come back in now," said Luna. The doctor came around the corner. "What do you think?" said Luna. "I think I may be time to use one of the special protocols," said the doctor. Luna sighed before speaking. "I agree," said Luna looking over at the door. "I'll get the potion started. Hopefully by this time tomorrow the princess will back to normal," said the doctor walking off to get to work. "I'm sorry sister, but you’re going to have to forget," said Luna quietly to herself.
