Chapter 11: Starting school and a field trip

As dawn broke over the horizon of Equestria, the local Pokemon trainer of Ponyville, known solely as Will, was waking up to start his chores. As soon as he finished feeding all of his Pokemon, he went back into the ranch house to start on breakfast for him and Cindy, who was slowly making her way down stairs. "Good Morning Will," Cindy said with a yawn.

"Morning sis, just take your seat at the table and I'll have breakfast real soon," Will told her. True to his word, Will came over with two plates of pancakes and maple syrup.

"So, what's the plan for today?" Cindy asked her brother.

"Well, I was going to try and find the local schoolhouse and get you enrolled," Will explained.

"Oh, ok! I hope to see our friends there as well!" Cindy said, smiling a warm smile.

"GREAT! Once we're done with breakfast, you go and get your stuff ready," Will instructed, which Cindy nodded in understanding. After a few minutes, they heard a knocking at the door, "Huh, wonder who that is?" Will asked, going over to the door, and opened it to reveal the local school teacher, Cheerilee.

"OH Will! I was hoping to speak with you before I go and start school," Cheerilee said with a smile.

"Ok, right this way please Ms." Will said, inviting the mare in.

"Oh my name is Cheerilee, there's no need to call me miss," Cheerilee said, introducing herself, taking a seat on Wills couch, "Well, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind allowing me to take my school foals to your ranch so you could show us the various Pokemon creatures you have?" Cheerilee asked.

Putting his hand up to his chin to rub it, Will thought, "Well, if they don't cause trouble, then I guess you could," Will said before remembering something, "Now if you don't mind, I also have to ask you something, can you enroll my sister Cindy into your school?" Will asked the mulberry mare.

"Ok, now we're even, you let me bring my students to your ranch, and I can enroll Cindy into my roster, by the way, could I meet her, so I can find out what she's like?" Cheerilee asked.

"Sure, she's right over there," Will said, pointing towards the dining room table, where Cindy was gathering the dirty dishes, "Cindy, come over here once you're done with that, and meet your new teacher," Will asked his sister who nodded before going into the kitchen to drop off the dishes, before walking out to meet the mulberry mare, "Cindy, this is Cheerilee, your new teacher, Cheerilee, this young girl is my sister Cindy," Will introduced the two to each other.

"Hello Cindy, its nice to meet you, and I promise that you'll like your time at school, all of the fillies and some colts are really nice," Cheerilee said, putting a hoof on the young girls shoulder.

"It nice to meet you too Ms. Cheerilee, and I promise to be a good student," Cindy said, smiling at the mare.

"Ok Cindy, go and grab your stuff, and I can walk with you and Cheerilee to the schoolhouse," Will told his sister, who nodded and went to collect her stuff.

"My, she's a spirited one, isn't she?" Cheerilee asked with a giggle.

"Yeah, she's always excited to learn new things," Will told the earth mare, who nodded in understanding.

Just then, they saw Cindy coming back with her book bag, "Ok Will, I'm ready," Cindy said, smiling at her brother.

"Alright, lets go," Will said, motioning towards the door, with the mare and girl following him out the door. Once Will was out the door, he shut the door, and locked it, and three made their way to the schoolhouse. While they were walking. the two humans noticed ponies along the way waving and smiling at the trio as they made their way to the schoolhouse. After a while they arrived at the Ponyville schoolhouse, "Ok Cindy, I'll be back to pick you up after school ends," Will told his sister, who nodded in understanding. "What time does school here usually end?" Will asked the mulberry teacher.

"Three o'clock," Cheerilee replied with a smile. Will nodded in understanding, giving Cindy one last goodbye, before heading back to the ranch.

"Alright, lets get you settled into your new class," Cheerilee said, leading Cindy into the schoolhouse. Once inside, Cindy was amazed at the rows of desks and a nearby bookshelf, and a blackboard. "Just take a seat in the back for now," Cheerilee told Cindy, who nodded and went to the back row. After awhile, some fillies and colts were coming in and taking their seats, Cindy smiled seeing her friends all coming in and welcoming her.

"Howdy Cindy, looks like your gonna be part of our class huh?" Applebloom said, smiling at the new girl.

"Yes Applebloom, but it will take so time to adjust, seeing as this school is different from Mahogany Town," Cindy said, smiling nervously but warmly at her friends, who all smiled back.

Alright everyone, quiet down!" Cheerilee called to her class who all simmered down respectfully, "Now before we begin our lessons for the day, I have two things I would like to do, first, we have a new student, Cindy, would you kindly stand up and introduce yourself?" Cheerilee asked the new girl, who hesitantly stood up. "Everyone, this is Cindy, and I would very much appreciate it if you make her feel welcome," Cheerilee said, giving the students all warm smiles.

"Hello Everyone!" Cindy said cheerfully.

"HELLO CINDY!" the class chorused.

"And as for the second thing, I'm sure you all have heard about the ranch that appeared on the outskirts of Ponyville right? Well, the owner of said ranch has given me permission to bring you all to his ranch to see his Pokemon creatures," Cheerilee explained, "But if you all want to go, I need your parents to sign these permission slips first," Cheerilee said, passing out slips to the students, "Cindy, since the ranch owners your brother, I assume you don't need a permission slip," Cheerilee said, walking past the new girl, who nodded in understanding.

"I know, but its ok, I know the Pokemon my brother raises," Cindy said, smiling at the mulberry mare. As soon as Cheerilee finished passing out the permission slips, Cheerilee went back to the front of the room to begin the lessons for the day, which consisted of math equations. Class went on for a few hours until the bell rang, signaling recess.

"Have a good lunch and recess students!" Cheerilee called, going to collect her own lunch.

"Oh boy, that was brutal," Scootaloo commented, sighing a breath of relief.

"You don't like math?" Cindy asked the orange filly.

"Its not that I don't like it, its just that is so boring!" Scootaloo replied.

"Well, most equations and formulas are easy, once you get the hang of it," Toby reassured his big sister, who smiled at her brothers sweet nature.

"Well, at least we get a field trip tomorrow, right?" Josh asked his friends.

"Yeah, and I bet Wills Pokemon are going to be awesome!" Echo exclaimed.

"Oh, they will be!" Cindy assured her friend. After awhile, the bell rang, signaling the end of recess, which signaled the kids to go back into the class. Once inside, class went on like usual, and eventually the final bell rang, signaling the end of school.

"See you all tomorrow! And remember to get your permission slips signed!" Cheerilee called to her students, who all went their separate ways to go home.

"C'mon Cindy, lets get you home," Will said, taking his sister back to the ranch with him.

The next day,

"Ok, is everyone here?" Cheerilee asked her students, who were all accompanied by their parents, "Ok, we're leaving right now, but first give me the signed permission slips," Cheerilee asked, which each foal complied, giving her their permission slips which had their parents signature at the bottom. "Good! It looks like everyone has their permission slips signed, so now we can go," Cheerilee said, leading the large group to Will ranch.

After some walking, they could see the trainer standing on the front porch, smiling at the group, "Hey everyone, who wants to go see my Pokemon?" Will asked the school, which resulted in all the foals hooves(or in the case of humans, hands) going up, "Great! We'll start over in the rocky mountain habitat, where some of my Steel, Rock, and Dragon type pokemon are, along with some other mountain dwelling Pokemon," Will said, leading the group towards the mountains, "But before I forget, I want to give you all something that can give you information on the various Pokemon we'll see, and to activate it, just open it, and point it at the Pokemon," Will said, handing out little red boxes to each of the main six.

After some walking, one of the mares decided to ask Will a question, "Mr. Will, none of these Pokemon are dangerous, are they?" she asked, giving the trainer a stern look.

"Well, they used to be, but I tamed them so that they're friendly towards visitors, and don't worry, I'll make sure no one gets hurt," Will replied, reassuring the parents, who were wary of the strange new creatures. Just then, a shadow flew over them, "Oh, there's one of my dragon types, HEY SALAMENCE, COME DOWN HERE AND MEET OUR GUESTS!" Will called to the Pokemon. They saw the creature turning around and before the group, a large blue dragon Pokemon with big red wings stood before them. "Everyone, meet Salamence, one of my most faithful dragon Pokemon," Will said introducing his Pokemon to the ponies, who were all amazed at how calm he was.

"It is an honor to meet each and everyone of you," Salamence said in a calm tone, smiling at the guests.

"Wow, so that's a dragon type?" Twilight asked, pulling out a Pokedex that Will gave at the beginning of the tour.

"Salamence, the dragon Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Bagon. After realizing its dream for flight, the cells in its body allowed it to grow wings, giving it the fastest flying speed among all flying Pokemon. the Pokedex said, giving information on the dragon Pokemon before the group.

"Amazing!" Twilight commented. Just then, they heard a low pitch roar.

"Oh, that would be my Steelix," Will commented, looking around for his Iron Snake Pokemon, who burst out of the ground. Steelix was a large snake like Pokemon, with a grey body, shovel shaped head, and spikes on some of the boulders that made its body. The ponies were very surprised to see the iron snake Pokemon. "Hey Steelix, how's it going?" Will asked his largest steel type Pokemon.

"Wow, that's huge!" Pinkie said, opening her Pokedex, to get information on Steelix.

"Steelix, the iron snake pokemon, and the evolved form of Onix. Some say that if an Onix lives for more than a thousand years, its body can turn harder than diamonds, thus resulting in its evolution. the Pokedex said, giving data on Steelix.

"THATS HUGE!" said a small brown colt with a reddish brown mane and tail.

"Well, a fun fact about Steelix is that I caught it while in Kanto, on Mt. Hideaway," Will explained.

"What's Mt. Hideaway?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Its an area in the Kanto region that's home to Onix that are twice the size of normal Onix, some say it has to do with the fertile soil around the area," Will explained.

"I did not know that we were having guests," Steelix said, looking at the ponies.

"Well, you might not have paid attention when I told you yesterday," Will suggested.

"Huh, maybe, well, I'll let you get on with you tour," Steelix said, before burrowing through the ground again.

"Yeah I have to get going too, but its ben great meeting all of you!" Salamence said, taking flight.

"Right, so lets continue the tour!" Will said leading the group through the mountains again.
