Chapter 8: Peaceful Fun

Three days have passed since the incident with Articuno and Icedevimon in Canterlot Castle, our four human friends: Daniel, Alyssa, Madison, and Ryan, have little progress in training. They were having a break day, as Twilight Sparkle was trying to figure out their next move. Ryan Chukareth, eight-year-old native American magic user, rested under an apple tree as his childish mind wandered.

Nearby, Guilmon rested as well. The dinosaur digital monster watching over the eight-year-old as his Digidestined partner did some work with Daniel. He knew that Daniel would protect Alyssa, and so he would protect Ryan as Madison had her own partner to defend her.

Ryan opened his eyes, yawning and stretching his arms out against the apple tree's trunk. The eight-year-old looked around and spotted Guilmon's form lying on the ground not to far away.

"Oh, hey Guilmon. I didn't notice you there." Ryan greeted.

Guilmon smiled, revealing a set of teeth, but Ryan had grown used to the digital dinosaur.

"Good afternoon Ryan!" He greeted warmly.

The native american child stood up, and went toward the Guilmon, "What are you doing here?"

"Napping, it's very relaxing," Guilmon answered.

"Well, of course, it is napping!" The eight-year-old replied. "But it gets kinda boring don't you think?"

Guilmon sat upright, shaking his head a bit to ease the drowsiness out of him. "Yeah, three days of no fighting. A bit suspicious. And with all the training for the last three days, it's getting repetitive."

"Besides the box ghost?" Ryan said with small giggles escaping his voice.

Guilmon chuckled, "Besides him, seriously, what's with the obsession with boxes?"

"Maybe he just really likes boxes?" The eight-year-old questionably said, "Yeah, the training gets so boring after a while, we need something to do! Something fun!"

"Got any ideas, Ryan?" Guilmon questioned.

"Mmh..." Ryan placed his fingers to his chin in a thoughtful matter, "Kick the can?"

"Don't think we got any cans around here."

"Good point... I know! We can help the Cutie Mark Crusaders!"

"Cutie Mark Crusaders?" Guilmon seems a bit puzzled, "Who are they?"

"They're three fillies that always go on crazy adventures in order to obtain their cutie marks, and so they always have something fun to do!"

The digital monster's face grew a wide smile, "If we can all have some fun, that'll be great! Where can we find them?"

"I think I know the way, follow me, Guilmon!" Ryan exclaimed happily as he jumped to his feet, and rushed toward a direction, the digimon coming after him.

The nine-year-old African-american girl skipped happily along the grass plains of Ponyville park, the small piece that was the Crest of Imagination dangled freely as she moved about. It was at this moment, at the pinnacle of the peaceful atmosphere, that Madison found herself pausing in mid-motion. She looked around her, the wind whistling through the slightly tall grass before a shift caught her attention.

She readied herself, or at least, as much readiness a child could muster bar some sort outside of half alien hybrids.

Out from the tall grass, came forth a small dog-like creature, covered in green color fur with yellow streaks around its ears, backside, and the tip of its tail.

"An Electrike!" Madison exclaimed with surprise, "Oh, I want it so bad! This is like a dream come true!" She said with overwhelming joy, practically hopping in place with excitement.

Quickly, Madison tossed forth her partner's pokeball, the device opening up and shooting forth a white energy that released the Charmander from its resting place.

"Char! Charmander!" The pokemon cried out its name, looking toward the Electrike and taking a battle stance of sorts.

The Electrike charged forward with great speed, before Madison knew it, the wild pokemon had tackled its body right into her Charmander.

"Hey, that's no fair!" Madison cried out, "Charmander, counter that with a flamethrower attack!"

The small fire-type pokemon reeled his head back, sputters of small flames forming inside its mouth. Charmander then opened its mouth and released a spewing line of heated, orange and red fire. The small dog-like pokemon rushed to the side, avoiding the sea of the flame that had threatened to incinerate it.

"Quickly, scratch it!" Madison shouted her command, her first ever pokemon charging with claws to bear.

The Electrike countered by attempting to tackle the standing lizard, it something out of a dramatic show, they hit each other at the same time, feet dragging briefly as they passed one another.

Madison held her breath, who would fall? No, what kind of question is that of course, Electrike would lose!

Indeed, the electric-type pokemon fell forward on the ground. Hastily, Madison reached to her back waist pulling out an empty pokeball and tossing it at the fainted creature.

The small girl did not realize she previously had no extra pokeballs, nor did she notice the crest hanging around her neck dimly glowing in response to the child's belief.

A flying red and white sphere hit home on the Electrike's body, opening up and absorbing the fainting pokemon in a display of red energy before closing back up when finished. The ball landed on the ground with a light thudding sound, wiggling left and right that caused the nine-year-old to hold her breathing once again in anxious anticipation.

It stopped, creating a familiar noise like something cooled at a heavy note.

"Yes! I can't believe I caught one!" Madison screamed in excitement, giggling loudly as she swooped up her new Pokemon's capture device and jumped up and down repeatedly. The Charmander besides her almost copying his trainer's actions as it felt the joy of the girl.

Madison turned to her starter pokemon, "Let's go show the others, return!" She said, bringing her joyful Pokemon into its home to rest. "I can't wait, I wonder what Ryan would think? Or Alyssa! Daniel would probably just ruffle my hair or something."

"Wait, they live in a tree house?" A certain red digimon said in surprise.

"No, no!" Ryan waved his hands in denial of that statement, "They just come here to think of new things to do!" The child explained.

Guilmon tapped a claw on his muzzle, "What kinds of things?"

"New ways to get their Cutie Marks of course, let's go!" Ryan said as he happily ran up to the entrance of the tall tree house.

"Why do I get the feeling this has been done before...?" Guilmon said, stopping short of the stairway. "I don't think I can fit through all that, I'm a growing digimon! I'm huge!"

Ryan paused in thought, already half way up the stairs. "Hm..."

"Hello!" A girlish voice with an accent similar to Applejack's greeted.

Both Ryan and Guilmon looked toward the opened doorway of the treehouse, revealing a set of three small fillies staring at them with huge eyes filled with curiosity.

"Hi! I'm Ryan!" The native american boy greeted.

The three ponies, one with a yellowish coat with a red bowtie on her hair, another with a white fur with a horn, and finally the last with an orange coat, purple hair, and miniature wings.

The unicorn greeted first, "I'm Sweetie Bell."

The small farmer filly replied next, "And I'm Applebloom!"

"Of course, I'm the awesome one, Scootaloo!" The pegasus finished it.

Ryan's eyes widened as he saw the three fillies take in deep breaths, quickly he covered his eyes, leaving Guilmon at the mercy of the following deaf causing scream.

"AND WE'RE THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!"

Guilmon fell backward, eyes swirling as his batwing ears rang like someone threw a flash grenade. "I'm dying... Help... What kind of attack is it... Is it a digimon...?"

Ryan uncovered his ears, "No, just the Cutie Mark Crusaders."

"Um, sorry about that," Sweetie Bell said to the dinosaur before.

This caught the young boy's attention, "You aren't scared of Guilmon?" Ryan asked.

"Pff, no, he looks kinda like Spike, but bigger and red." Scootaloo waved a hoof off.

Applebloom rubbed a hoof across her chin, "I keep getting a sense of Deja vu for some reason..."

"Just ignore it," Scootaloo replied to her friend. "Are you here to help us get out Cutie Marks? We'll make you an honorary member!"

"Of course!" Ryan said with excitement, "I'll be glad to help get your Cutie Marks!" He glanced back to the recovering Guilmon, "Get up Guilmon!"

"Ringing..." The digimon trailed off.

The eight-year-old chuckled, "Ignore him, he'll be just fine! So what's the plan for today?"

The three fillies grinned.
