//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: The Diary of Dinky Doo // by Eyvind //------------------------------// Sept. 23 Dear Diary, Today I got a diary for my birthday! It's so cool because it has the Wonder Bolts symbol on the front of it. My mom looked really happy when I opened it, too. A lot happier than I've seen her in months. I can't wait for my next birthday, because I'll get to see my mom smile like that again! Sept. 24 Dear Diary, I took my diary to school with me to show it to everyone for show and tell, but they all just laughed at me. Diamond Tiara said that diaries are for little foals. I would of knocked her lights out if Ms. Cheerilee didn't stop me. Mom wasn't very happy with me when she found out, either. At least Scootaloo thought my diary was cool. But maybe that was just because of the Wonder Bolts symbol. Sept. 26 Dear Diary, My mom thinks that I don't have enough friends, so she forced me to go to this strange pony's house and hang out with him for a while. His name was Button Mash, and he was soooooooo weird. All he wanted to do was play these weird games and he barely said anything. I was so happy when my mom picked me up. I don't think I'll be going over to Button's again any time soon. Sept. 27 Dear Diary, Something really weird happened today. Scootaloo came up to me at recess and asked if I wanted to play on the swings with her. I think her friends dared her to because I saw Applebloom and Sweetie Belle watching from across the school yard. Still, it was super scary when I saw her coming towards me. I thought she was going to punch me or something! The swings were fun, but I saw Scootaloo's friends laughing while they watched us. I wish someone would tell me what's going on. Sept. 28 Dear Diary, Scootaloo came up to me at recess again but this time she wanted to play tag. Nothing bad happened on the swings yesterday, so I said yes. Sweetie Belle and Applebloom were still watching us, but Sweetie ran away when Button Mash walked by. Why are they so strange? My mom is happy that I'm making friends, at least. She always smiles whenever I tell her how much fun recess was. Sept. 29 Dear Diary, Me and Scootaloo played together at recess for the third day in a row. Sweetie Belle and Applebloom finally decided to stop being weird and came over to play with us. We got a really big game of tag going, it was so much fun! But when I came home, there was a strange stallion in my living room. He was sitting on the couch like it was his house or something! My mom came in and said his name was Time Turner. She said that I might see him around the house more often. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean he seemed nice enough, but he's still a stranger. And why's he in our house, anyway? Oct. 2 Dear Diary, I woke up this morning and I had to go to the bathroom, but Time Turner was in there already. Why was he in our house so early? Did he sleep over? Scootaloo came over to my house really early and asked if I wanted to play. I thought that was kind of strange, but I didn't want to stay in the house with “him” so I said yes. That was the first time I ever rode on a scooter. It was kind of awkward, because I had to hold on to Scootaloo so I didn't fall off, and she kept complaining that I wasn't giving her wings enough space. We met up with Sweetie Belle and Applebloom and spent the rest of the day trying crazy things to get our cutie marks. I would never tell Scootaloo this, but that was the most fun Saturday I've ever had. Oct. 3 Dear Diary, They're dating!? My mom is dating that stallion, Time Turner!? They sat down and told me how it was today. I still can't believe it, though. I mean, what does my mom even see in that guy? He's obviously a total creep. I'm going to have to start locking my bedroom door at night. Scootaloo didn't come over today, but that's alright. I didn't feel like playing anyway after having that talk. Oct. 6 Dear Diary, Recess was pretty fun today. Me, Scootaloo, and Applebloom all played together. Sweetie Belle sat under a tree the whole time, though. She was playing on Button Mash's game thing while he shouted a bunch of nonsense about aliens and health bars at her. He's so weird, I don't get why she likes hanging out with him. After school, I saw my mom and Time Turner waiting at the school gate for me. They said they wanted to take me to see a movie with them. I knew it was a bribe, but how am I supposed to turn down a free movie? We saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Bunnies, and it was "super awesome!", as Scootaloo would say. I wanted to save the ticket stub, but I didn't have a special place to put it. My mom gave me one of her old jewelry boxes to use. Now, if I ever have anything I want to keep forever, I'll just put it in this box. I tried really hard to think of a good name for it, and I decided to call it my Memory Bank. Oct. 8 Dear Diary, The running of the leaves is happening this weekend! We usually don't go, because kids can't run in it and my mom was banned a few years ago. But this year, we have to show up and cheer for Time Turner. Scootaloo and Applebloom are coming too, to cheer for their sisters. They almost got in a fight at recess over who's sister could beat the other's. Sweetie's sister isn't running I guess, but she said she'll show up anyway if we're going to be there. This is the first time I'm actually kind of excited for the race. I didn't tell my mom this, but I don't think Time Turner even stands a chance. I'd put my bits on Rainbow Dash. Would mom be mad if I cheered for her instead of Time Turner? Oct. 9 Dear Diary, Best. Race. Ever! Rainbow Dash and Applejack actually tied for first! I heard that they both tied for last last year. I don't even know how that's possible. Time Turner finished right in the middle with an average time. My mom was cheering for him so loud I thought we might get kicked out. And it was super fun playing with Scoots, Sweetie and Applebloom, too. I found Time Turner's number he was wearing during the race. He threw it away, but I got it out of the trash when no one was looking. I just wanted something to keep from today so I would always remember how much fun I had. I put it in the Memory Bank when we got home, right next to my ticket stub. Oct. 12 Dear Diary, Today was a really bad day. I got in a fight at school, and my mom had to come get me. It wasn't even my fault, though! Scootaloo was trying to practice her flying by jumping off the swings, when Diamond Tiara came over and started telling her how pathetic she looked. She kept on teasing her about her flying and I just couldn't stop myself. I tackled her and hit her really hard in the nose. she started bleeding and crying, and I got in trouble. My mom told me that I'm grounded for two weeks, but she changed it to one when I told her why I did it. The only good thing was Scootaloo smiled and thanked me. I don't think Diamond Tiara will tease Scootaloo about her wings anymore, either. Oct. 13 Dear Diary, Time Turner made us a really good breakfast before school today. He's a lot better at cooking than my mom. He said it was my reward for sticking up for my friend, but I don't know how I can get a reward and be grounded for the same thing. Everyone stayed away from me at school except Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Applebloom. Scootaloo said it was because no one else wanted to get a bloody nose. That kind of made me sad. It's not like I'm a bully or anything. I had to go straight home after school because I was grounded. Scootaloo walked with me and kept me company, though. She's a really great friend. Oct. 18 Dear Diary, Only one more day of being grounded! It was so boring not being able to play with my friends, especially over the weekend. Scootaloo said that we have to do something big tomorrow to celebrate. Applebloom said she had an idea, but she wouldn't tell me any more. I can't wait to see what they have planned! Oct. 19 Dear Diary, Oh my GOSH! Today was definitely the best day of my life! Today, I joined the Cutie Mark Crusaders! Scootaloo took me to their clubhouse after school, where Applebloom and Sweetie Belle were waiting. Then I had to say a bunch of weird and random stuff, but after that they gave me my own cape! The only bad part was I kind of started crying a little bit, but they didn't make fun of me or anything. I was just so happy to become part of their group, like, officially. I just wish I had something from today to put in my Memory Bank, because I never want to forget this feeling.
