//------------------------------// // Chapter 2 // Story: A Hoof Heights Story: Sapphire Shores and Jill Jewel // by lyra_lover777 //------------------------------// The second Fashion Forward said those words, everything became quiet and awkward. Star Dust raised her hoof and waved shyly. "Hi," was all she had to say. After introductions, the trio trotted to the dining room. Fashion took the head of the table, while Sapphire and Star sat on opposite sides of her. They started taking food, idle conversation starting up. Half way through the meal the awkwardness started to dissipate. That was until Star gave Fashion a quick peck on the cheek. The conversation died and they ate quietly for a minute. Star looked shamed that she had ruined the conversation. After another minute Star Dust got up to put her empty plate in the kitchen and to fetch dessert. At this time Fashion looked right at Sapphire. "Please don't make this to awkward. She feels very bad about ruining the conversation for you." "Why didn't you at least warn me so I could prep myself? Anyways, how long have you been together?" Fashion smiled at Sapphire's softening. "Six months." Sapphire nodded as Star walked in, a plate of carrot cake and three dessert plates held in her pink aura. "I'll go take both our plates Sapphire." Fashion said. She whisked the empty plates away in her light green magic aura and walked out of the room. They sat in silence as they listened to Fashion humming one of Sapphire's songs as she cleaned the dishes. "She's really amazing, isn't she," said Star. It was more a statement than a question. "Yeah, she is. Sorry I made tonight so awkward. Its just she never told me until you were standing in the doorway, waving your hoof at me and saying hi." "She is weird about our relationship. She feels insecure about telling everypony. Well, I still love her. All better?" "All better," said Sapphire. Sapphire realized she hadn't been using her fancy, sassy voice around Star. Just then Fashion walked in to see her friend and fillyfriend smiling and talking comfortably. They finished their carrot cake and Star Dust went home while the two friends talked a bit more and went to bed. Sapphire had a comfortable sleep dreaming of dolphins swimming around the dining table in Fashion's house as she talked to Star Dust and Fashion Forward. She awoke in the morning to the sounds of Fashion making breakfast. Sapphire streched and put on a teal dress with rubies encrusting the flanks of the dress. She walked into the kitchen to see Fashion flip oat pancakes with her magic. Hash browns sat steaming on a plate, and orange juice was in two cups on the kitchen table. Sapphire grabbed a plate and Fashion floated two pancakes and a hash brown onto her plate while doing the same with her own plate. They sat down and ate quietly. When they were washing the dishes, Fashion Forward told Sapphire something. "I would like it if you came to the shop this afternoon." "I'd love too!!" was her reaction. They walked down the street, passing a store with common pony clothes in it called "Lacy Macy's Clothes." On the other side of the street was two houses. One had a black roof and navy walls, while the other had a pink roof and yellow walls. In the black and blue house a older light blue unicorn stallion with a greased black mane sat playing a lute, which was enveloped in his aura, which was the blue of his body. His horn was the color of his hair instead of his coat. The next house was lived in but the owner had already left. The porch was filled with cacti of all shapes and sizes. They stopped at an intersection of Unicorn way and another street, Mane Street. While Unicorn Lane was primarily homes for the unicorns of the city, Mane Street held mostly shops and only a few homes. They turned onto Mane Street and passed another house on the right side with a red roof and green walls, whose owners had also left for work. Also on the right side was a furniture store and a craft store. On the left side was an animal shelter and another house, this one with a magenta roof and brown walls. They crossed the intersection of Mane Street and Earth Pony Street, where all the earth ponies of the town lived. And on the left side of the street after the intersection was "Fashion Forward's Boutique." Her friends store was two stories and had a purple roof and pink walls. In the windows were dresses of all colors and sizes. Sapphire particularly liked one number that was pink with purple dolphins on each side. They entered the store and Fashion flipped the closed sign so that it read open. They walked behind the counter where a silver unfinished dress lay. They spent the next 20 minutes attaching rubies to the dress. When they were finished, Fashion quickly sewed on a zipper and cleaned up the edges. Then she floated an empty mannequin over and slid the dress onto it and floated the newly dressed mannequin onto the floor towards the front of the store. Then she set to work designing another dress, this one green with turquoise along the spine. The shimmery blue-green unicorn that Sapphire had seen yesterday walked in. Sapphire quickly retreated behind the counter. The unicorn mare, who was named Poetful Parchment, bought a simple red dress with small rubies dotting the collar. As she floated the doors open, Fashion suggested that she should walk around town as she started on the new dress. Sapphire nodded and donned her fedora and trench coat and walked out the door while Fashion ran around, gathering materials for the dress. On the left side of the street, directly next to Fashion's boutique, was two stores, one for jousting and the other for archery. On the right side of the street there was three shops, a shish-ka-bob restaurant, a pickle store, and a bait shop. Then she came to the intersection of Mane Street and Mare Way. Down the left side of the street stood an amphitheater. Down the right side was more shops. She crossed the intersection and saw a shop on the left side of the street called "Jill Jewel's Jewelry." She thought it looked interesting and went inside. And that is when she saw the most beautiful unicorn mare ever to grace Equestria with her beauty.
