The Rescue

Chapter Two:

Prince Blueblood, one of the snootiest ponies to ever live. Lies all lies. Prince Blueblood really didn’t mean to seem rude at the Grand Galloping Gala, he just was in a really bad mood that day. Just a day before, he had found out his fiancé, Vanessa, cheated on him with Hoity Toity. He was absolutely furious that when the Gala came around he decided that he would be rude to anyone who tried to speak to him. Most ponies got the message that he wanted to be left alone, except for this one mare. Rarity was her name, she was probably one of the most persistent mare he had ever met. Every time he would try to show that he uninterested in talking to her the more she seemed to want to talk to him. At the end of the Gala she had crossed the line and he added her to one of the ponies he should avoid forever.

Prince Blueblood life hadn’t been very eventful since that day. His aunts had tried to get him dating again, but every mare he went on a date with rather wanted to marry into royalty, or just didn’t want to be there. He had met this one mare called Fluttershy, but that date ended with her yelling at him to give that crazy mare Rarity a chance. The guards had banned her from entering Canterlot for a week. There was also other mare called Lyra but she was just as crazy as Fluttershy, blabbing on about these creatures called ‘homans’ and how they watch everypony on Saturday. The guards didn’t ban her from Canterlot, they put her in a mental asylum for a year.

Celestia and Luna had the brilliant idea about what to do with the mopping prince. They hired some of Equestrias best sailors to take Blueblood out from a bit of sailing.

“Men, where are we going exactly,” the prince asked.

“Well, Captain, we’re not going anywhere. We are just going to sail the seas for a while,” an orange sailor pony said.

“Well as your, Captain, I demand we set sail this instant!”

“Your highness, we haven’t check the ship. Little thing like that could cause lives!” another sailor added.

“What! Are you boys afraid of a little water? The seas are as calm as a spring morning. If anything was to go wrong we could swim back to shore,” the sailors looked unsure but climbed aboard the ship either way. An elderly stallion who was sitting on the dock stood from his chair and unattached the rope holding the boat. Just under the water of the sailing boat something fishy was going on.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Ariel, where are you going?” Attina yelled from her room.
“Out!” Ariel said as she grabbed her orange bag.
“Ariel, remember what father said?”
“Yes, yes. You may collect all the trinkets you want, but no going up to the surface,” Ariel swam from the hallway and into the throne room. Sitting on the throne was her father King Triton. The royal stallion’s coat was as white as sea foam and his mane was grey. He had a buff upper body, and a strange lower one. He had a long and strong looking turquoise tail with green fins. He wore a large golden crown with five spike sticking out on his head.
“Ariel, please be careful out there,” her father said worriedly.
“Of course daddy,” Ariel gave her father a kiss on his cheek. Triton put his hooves around Ariel and gave her a hug.
“You’re looking more like your mother every day,” he kissed his daughter cream coloured head, minding the horn in her head, and let her swim off. Ariel left the throne room and out of the palace, her salt damaged red hair floating freely behind her. Ariel swam to her friends rooms in the palace. She first knocked for Sebastian and then Flounder. They exchanged greetings and set off for the day.
“Sebastian, can you go ask Scuttle for some news?” she asked.
“Oh course dear. I’ll be back before you can say, she sells sea shells on the sea shore,” Sebastian swam up to the surface and waited by Scuttle’s rock. It wasn’t very good weather up on the surface, the wind and the rain were beating down on his shell, this was one of the reason why he hated the surface. After a few seconds Scuttle perched on his rock and started telling Sebastian a story.
“Well a little birdie told me that, Prince Blueblood is sailing the seas for a bit. His girlfriend was cheating on him, so he needed to get out. Funny things happen up on the shore you know, you should visit more often,”
“Well I’m sure, Ariel would love to hear about a silly little prince,” he said sarcastically, ignoring Scuttles comment about the shore.
“Oh come on of course she would be interested! She, Ariel she loves anything to do with the pony world,” Scuttle exclaimed “Well in other news, Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends have been sent to Sunny Sands Beach. Something about ponies going missing, they seem to be just partying right now,”
Sebastian looked worried. He thanked Scuttle as she flew off his rock and swam back to Ariel.
“Ariel, has anymermaid been seen taking ponies lately,” Sebastian asked as he swam. Unsurprisingly she wasn’t there.
“Ariel! Ariel! Ariel!” Sebastian yelled. He noticed Ariel’s turquoise tail swimming towards the opens sea. Sebastian sighed and followed the adventurous mermare.
Ariel continued swimming with her friend Flounder for an hour or so, Sebastian following hurriedly behind. Sometimes she stopped to listen to the ocean, but then started swimming jut as quick as she did before. Sebastian was used to Ariel swimming off for whatever reason, but today she didn’t look excited or curious, she seemed worried. Her swimming pace picked up the more she swam out from sea. Sebastian tried to get Ariel and Flounders attention but they just seemed to ignore him.
“Ariel, come back this instant! King Triton said you must do as you’re told. Ariel are you listening?” Sebastian face was red hot with furry, which was hard to see. Ariel stopped for a moment to let Sebastian catch up.
“Shhh, can’t you hear something?” she whispered.
“Oh I can hear something. The sound of your father yelling!”
“No, no listen,” Ariel put her hooves to her ears and started swimming again.
“Someone is in trouble, Sebastian, we have to go!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The seas was as mysterious as what Luna does in the day. Small waves crashed against Princes Blueblood’s ship, rocking it slightly. The wind was fairly strong, making the ship move faster. The crew were busy cleaning the ship, hoisting sails and doing whatever crews did. Blueblood was manning the wheel, gliding the ship with ease across the sea. It was going fine until grey clouds started to loom overhead. The wind picked up, and the waves began to beat down harder on the ship. At first it seemed like a small storm had passed through, but the more the ship rocked, they crew knew this was no passing storm. The sky turned grey, and clouds blocked out the bright rays of the sun. Blueblood was trying to stay calm, if he started to panic so would his crew, which would end in more disaster. He was trying hard to sail to ship out of the storm, but when a lightning bolt struck, he had jumped and lost control of the wheel. He tried to stop the wheel, put his hooves were pushed away.

“Bring down the sails it will slow the ship down!” Blueblood ordered. The sailors saluted as grabbed the ropes and pulled them down. Bringing the sails down did slow the ship down, but the storm was getting wilder.

“If you would have let us check the girl before we left, this could have been prevented!” one of the sailors yelled.

“I am Celestia damned sure that a check up on the boat wouldn’t stop a storm!” the captain argued.

“Yes, but the ship would have been sturdier,”

A sudden gust of wind pushed the ship towards a group of rocks. The ships side scraped against the rocks, making a giant hole at the side of the ship. The ship tilted on its side and it began sinking. The crew tried to grab onto something, but the downwards force and the weight of the ponies was too much for the wood to handle and it snapped. The sailors one by one fell into the treacherous waters and started to be pulled downward. The last thing they saw was their ship being dragged down to the bottom of the ocean.

Down at the ocean, Prince Blueblood was struggling to breath. His hooves were failing as he tried to swim back to the top that was gather farther by the second. Blueblood started reflecting on his life choices. Like that time he and Luna pranked Celestia, and the one where he went to the Canterlot garden party and saw that annoying mare Rarity get all the attention. He sighed and let his hooves fall to his sides. He had lived a pretty good, and all he needed to do is close his eyes and let the calm voices of death take him.

~~~~~~
Ariel was swimming into the part of the ocean that was forbidden. King Triton once used this place for vacations but after Ursula took over he had forgotten all about it. Once Ursula was taken care of Triton never bother to fix up this place, afraid if anymore villains would be here. Ariel slowed down her speed and waiting for Sebastian and Flounder to get to her.
“The sound goes through here. Are you ready?” she asked.
“Wait just a second, Ariel we can’t go through here it too scary. Can’t we go around?” Flounder asked, his fins shaking.
“No it’ll take too long, we have to go through,”
“Woah, Ariel don’t you thin–“ Sebastian was cut off by Ariel turquoise tail in his face.
“No time!” Ariel began swimming straight through the area, being very observant of her surroundings. Little fish eyes peeked through the seaweed making Ariel paranoid. She felt the cold water run against her scales. Ariel brushed off the feeling and swam through fairly quick. She put her hooves over her ears and listened well. Her eyes went bright when she saw a figure in the distance. She put herself into an angle that she was facing the figure and started moving her fin back and forth. As soon as she build up enough speed she pushed herself forward, sending her rocketing towards to shadow. Ariel red hair flung to the back of her head with such speed, that it whip her directly in the face leaving a small mark.
“Don’t worry,” she mumbled. “I’ll save you,”
