A Pro-Postor-Ous Discovery

The sound ceased and Star Swirl turned around to face Private Poster. “Well now that they’ve left, I can deal with you Private.” Star Swirl said firmly.

“Me, sir?” Poster asked. “Why me?”

“Because you’re not Private Poster.” Star Swirl replied.

“I’m sorry sir, but I think the stress is getting to you.” Poster said.

“Oh, really?” Star Swirl implied. “Well then, let’s start with this: Five weeks ago, when we were placed in Fort From, you went missing for five days. When you returned, you acted very different, sarcastic, and chaotic. Since then you have said you have read the Royal Pony Sister’s files, even though no such files exist. You have also stated that you have read Discord’s files, even when there are no files on him. Basically, your disguise is not as great as it you thought it was, isn’t it, Discord?”

Poster smiled, as his eyes turned yellow and red, following everypony, except Star Swirl to vanish. The sky filled with dark clouds as a voice spoke through the air. “Well, Star Swirl, it seems you have seen through my little trick.” Star Swirl recognized the voice. Discord.

“Show yourself, Discord!” Star Swirl shouted. Suddenly, there was a poof of smoke, and a laughing Draconaquus stood in front of Star Swirl.

“What’s the matter, Star Swirl?” Discord asked. “Not enjoying my little game?”

“This game of yours, involved eliminating other ponies to suit your own interest!” Star Swirl responded.

“Come now, being a pony wasn’t all that fun, after all, no opposable digits.” Discord said.

“Don’t mess with me, Discord!” Star Swirl yelled. “I will protect the Royal Sisters, to my last breath!”

“Let’s say you did defeat me, casting me put of Equestria for all eternity,” Discord began, “How would you be rewarded? They would say, ‘good job! You get a cookie!’ and that’s about it, isn’t it? With how much work you put in for them, you should get your own castle, isn’t that right?”

Star Swirls eyes began to be hypnotized, swirl different colors. “Yes, I should get my own castle.” He said wearily. Then he came to his senses and shook his head violently back and forth, and then created a shockwave spell sending Discord flying into a wall. “Your little tricks will not work on me, Discord.” Star Swirl said, with a sly smile on his face.

“I guess you are as powerful as they say, Star Swirl.” Discord said surprisingly. “But I know why you want to protect the Royal Sisters.”

“I protect from you!” Star Swirl shouted.

“No, that isn’t the reason.” Discord implied. “In fact I know you want to see them right now, don’t you? I have magic that will show you what they’re doing right now.”

Star Swirl was skeptical. But he figured if he and Discord saw the sisters, they might be able to defeat him. "No tricks Discord.” He said.

“Why I wouldn’t dream of it.” Discord chuckled and snapped his eagle talons. Suddenly him, and Star Swirl were standing in the castle looking upon Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.

“Mind you they can’t see or hear you.” Discord explained. “We’re in a void of sorts, living as ghosts. And only I have the magic to go between them. You could watch them for all eternity if you wanted too.” There went Star Swirl's plan.

“I guess someone could if they wanted to.” Star Swirl replied.

“And you want to protect them for all eternity, don’t you?” Discord implied.

“Yes, I do wish to protect them.” Star Swirl said.

“Very well, I’ll leave you to that.” Discord said. “Ta-ta.” Discord snapped his talons and disappeared, leaving Star Swirl behind in the void.

“Discord!” Star Swirl shouted his voice filled with rage. He tried teleporting to his room in the castle, and succeeded, but remained in the void. He was unable to touch anything; his hoof just traveled right through the objects.

He was a ghost now, cut from the rest of the world. Thus the great Star Swirl the Bearded was doomed to travel all of Equestria, never to rest until his time came, in 1300 years.
